heh, i wanna see my ship.

Done. Battleships forever sometimes messes up the colour with lighting and shadows and all that, so it's more dark brownish than black. Oh well.

I spy a plot piece if you wan't it Asheron!
Perhaps! Perhaps not... Perhaps!

PRAY! Seriously, two words. Different. Alphabet.

I was in an after school class for it in fifth grade.
The different alphabet isn't that bad, honestly, it's just a matter of getting used to it. As an added bonus, you'll be able to recognize a few greek letters if you learn cyrillic.

The Roleplaying Let's Play Version of Battleships Forever!

EDIT: NOBODY CAN JOIN ANYMORE. NOPE.

There we have it. The space version of the pirate game I abandoned due to the sheer horrors of grids. This RPLP ( Roleplaying Let's Play, woohoo ) has no grids, so everything should be just fine!
First of all, what game are we playing? Battleships Forever, of course. This cool freeware space real time tactics game is excellent for what I'm planning.

How are we playing?

This wouldn't be a let's play/roleplaying game without you guys playing along. We will be playing Battleships Forever in this universe I made up. We start off with one ship and a small squadron of "fighters". Those fighters would be piloted by you. You can customise these a bit, we'll get to that later. We move around our universe with our ship, encountering baddies, goodies, and random events on our way, hopefully creating some interesting storyline. We decide on what to do, and in the case of a battle, I shall use the handy sandbox mode of Battleships Forever to see what happens. On the way, I'll be doing a little bit of roleplaying and background fluff.

Let's get going!

So, you've decided to be a space pirate. Well, unfortunately, we all have to start low. You left home for whatever reason, and decided to be a pirate. Not being rich enough to afford your own ship, you had no other choice then to find someone who was.
Cap'n Asheron is. He's a rather shady bloke you encountered somewhere in an even more shady pub, and he offered you to join his ship, the 12th Bay, and to venture out with him together! Seeing this as the opportunity, you accepted.

The 12th Bay, armed with some deflectors, guns and deployment facilities to launch a squadron of fighters, is a decent ship, but it is certainly not a top tier one. It will take skill, luck and a bit of gold to become a true and feared space pirate!

I'm in!

Good to have you in the team. First of all you'll be wanting to customise your fighter.

Every fighter has the same chassis, the T-001 fighter. However, some spare parts and paint are lying around and there is no reason you couldn't tweak your fighter with them.

The backside has two empty spaces. Each of these spaces can either be outfitted with a deflector ( allows you to protect a part of your ship from a small amount of damage every now and then ) or a thruster, which increases speed and turning rate.
The front also has two empty spaces. These can be outfitted with either a missile launcher, which shoots high velocity rockets from a good range that cause a nice amount of damage, but these can be shot down by interceptor turrets, a blaster, which fires hot plasma bolts at the enemy ( average damage, good speed, good range but less than missile launcher, the best average turret ), or with a DOMINATOR 1-T turret, which does incredible damage with a good speed but is has a very small range.

You can change the fighter to any colour you want. I'm expecting atleast one pink one.

This is the universe we're pirating in. It's full of references to bay12 and other things, a cookie in you find them all.

Alright. I seem to have underestimated this entire grid and getting everything right thing. I might restart this at some point, with proper rules, but for the time being I don't think this'll work ( even if I start I think I'd abandon after two turns or so ).
Instead, I might think of a LP Battleships forever. Uhuh. Space pirates!
Basically, we hang around and rob people while praying we don't get blown to shit by plasma guns.

I admire your effort, but to be as bluntly honest as I can be, In fact, it's quite terrible. You suck at life and everything. I sincerely hope you die.
Hehe, I suspected you'd reply something like that. I know, it's a pretty shallow story, but I just came up with it and was interested in what you were going to say about it. Might have another go at it later.

Setting: Inside an appartement or house, preferably a bland urban one. The more rundown the better.

A man, preferably one who looks a bit depressed, tired and dirty, knocks on a door ( preferably, in the case that he is at a house, while it's morning ).
A cheerful looking ( until she sees the man ) woman opens the door. The two stare at eachother for a few seconds before embracing eachother.
The man enters. Both sit down and start to talk. Out of the discussion, the viewer can derive that the man is the ex boyfriend of the woman. He ended the relationship for a career in a far away city/country/... but he never stopped loving her. Because of unfortunate events, he has lost all what he chose above her and now he has returned. He asks if she can forgive him for giving up their relationship, perhaps hinting at starting anew. The women makes it clear that she is in love with another man now, and that she cannot start anew. She pities him and gives him back a trinket/jewel ( a fake one seeing you have that budget ) he once gave her. The man is clearly shaken and leaves the appartment almost bursting out in tears.
He wanders around in a park ( it's getting late ). Possibly have him carrying a empty bottle of booze to imply he has been drinking between the conversation and this scene. He comes across a bench. A flashback can be seen in which the man and the women can be seen flirting with eachother on said bench. He sits upon the bench while holding the trinket in his palms. You can hear him crying. Possibly, teardrops falling upon the trinket/jewel for dramatic effect. The screen becomes black. A shot of the ground now. The trinket is lying on the flour/ground. Slowly, the camera goes up and you can see the man's feet hanging motionlessly in the air ( so that the viewer gains the impression that he hanged himself, but does not get any tangible confirmation ). The end!

Time frame is a day. With the encounter between man and women happening at day, the park scene at night.

This might be too much written out already, too stereotypical or just plain bad, I don't know, but in any case I hope you are something with it.

Yes. There will be one battle merely to see if the other rules ( the combat ones ) work. After that, I'm going to make a new nice and tidy thread with all the rules in one nice and tidy post and everyone will have the chance the modify their ship or start-over with their design ( of course, if they stay within the boundaries and limitations I will have set for gameplay balance ).
