DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Today I learned what regal bearing means.

From the googled description, I think that maybe some of my dwarves wants this guy in the fortress. After all, my fortress consists of only women except for two dwarves, wheres both of them is already married.

What I googled: "Have you even seen a guy walk into a room and all the women turn and look? Have you noticed that it’s not always the pretty boys who get that treatment?

The secret is one of the key components of Charisma, namely: Regal Bearing."

"Regal Bearing may be broken down into two fundamentals: Posture, and Body Language.

According to the wiki, caged creates, which gets stuck in an obsidian caste, wont get damaged. Will they still need food or anything, or will I be able to freeze my dwarf, like in a cryotube, using obsidian?

I really want to start an elven fortress, make enough food for one elf to live for some hundred years, put away all other elves in tubes, then turn of all pop-ups and automatic pauses. And just let the years go by, as I go to work. Effectively skipping forward in history for a couple hundred years.

DF Modding / Starting Adventure mode with a syndrom

Couldn't find any other entries about this.

Title probably says it all.. Start as a vampire outsider in adventure mode. Is it possible? how do I mod it?



While we are at it, is it possible to change adventure mode so that you get the ability change your starting equipment (I mean, it would probably be changed from the same starting screen anyway).

Is it possible to find a local map that entirely consists of a small island, you can get a local map, where all the edges are ocean, making it impossible for any caravan or migrants to enter above ground?

Or has it been programmed to stop that small islands from ever happen, it certainly seems like it..

DF Gameplay Questions / Trading a named war animal?

What happens if you trade a named war animal, for instance a war polar bear? Will they show up in legends? Will they have a history after the life in the fortress? Have anyone tried?

If the answer is that they wont have any continued history of importance, anyone know if toady has considered fixing this in some future release?

DF Suggestions / Skip years

I usually play some sort of role-playing games as an adventurer. When I play dwarf mode I usually do it to progress the world history some way. Either just trying to skip some years fast by making a fortress that can substain 400 fps and just wait, or sometimes I try to change diplomacy such as starting wars with the elves etc.

So for me it would be very convenient if you could skip for a year or maybe then years. Such as you can retire as a peasant, wait ten years and then continue on your adventure.

On a side note, it would be very helpful if you could get civilization information in adventure mode, such as flags in towns telling what civilization the town belongs to.

DF Modding / Custom Necromancer and mage towers questions.

So, now that we all have magic in the form of necromancers, how do we mod other forms of magic in there?

What I would like to do is add a similar tower, but mages should be training fire magic instead, and by reading books you should learn spells such as fire breath and throw a fire ball. And you should be able to learn one book per spell etc.

So, I have been searching around a little but can't really find out how to do it. Anyone got some good ideas or knows where to start?

DF Bug Reports / 38a Dining room..

I dont know i someone has posted this  before...

My dining room doesn't work as a dining room anymore. They just refuses to eat in it.

This world was generated in 33g and I created the dining room before getting 38a. I have resized the room several times but my dwarves are still not using it. I have created several other rooms after getting 38a but all of them work fine.
