DF General Discussion / Re: Post your animated GIFs depicting DF scenes!!!
« on: February 10, 2014, 04:37:41 pm »

The result of a tantrum spiral. Notice the vampire walled up on the left.

Also, here is how i took the gif file: http://blog.bahraniapps.com/?page_id=21

You can clean that mess with ease.

Can he continue the fortress with just a vampire?

No need for food, drink or sleep. He can build the most awesome fortress with just a single dwarf. If any new migrants come along, let the vamp feed on them.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Trading a named war animal?
« on: February 02, 2014, 06:49:25 am »
It makes perfect sense. I somehow feel that it might be a slight possibility that the animal is treated as a entity and it actually will work. If the animal just ceases to exist, I would like to know what kind of legends entry there will be about the situation. I'm guessing that it will be same as with legendary or masterwork items being traded, but it seems interesting enough for me to try it out while waiting for the next release.

I guess this thread is nothing more than a general thread asking for masterwork items/named animals to still exist in legends while being traded of the fort. Which there are plenty of, by now.

I will bump this thread when I have tested it.

DF Gameplay Questions / Trading a named war animal?
« on: February 02, 2014, 05:45:29 am »
What happens if you trade a named war animal, for instance a war polar bear? Will they show up in legends? Will they have a history after the life in the fortress? Have anyone tried?

If the answer is that they wont have any continued history of importance, anyone know if toady has considered fixing this in some future release?

Why do you want to burn them in the first place?

Toady, will you make it so that dragons can breed in fortress mode, in the next release, without modding?

DF General Discussion / Re: We all hate elves...

But I don't hate elves. ???

Likewise. That is now less a running gag than a limping gag, especially now that the elves bring stuff that's actually useful.

Mind you, I learned to appreciate them back in 40d when I discovered how ridiculously profitable the clothing industry is.

I'M SO MAD YOU HAVE NO IDEA

I always kill Elves. Every time, since they're the weakest and easiest race to kill, they have good loot, like animals and wood, it can take a really long while for them to actually declare war on you, and when they do, their ambushes add a healthy amount of challenge to the game. Plus, they provide good training for your militia, and I've always hated elves in general, and letting them get chopped up is very satisfying.

I kill them to start a war, I don't care about the loot.

I can't wait til the next release. I got so many ideas for adventures and fortresses to build... But I have been reading so much about the next release that I can't stand going back to the latest release...

Any hints on when we can expect the next release?

If a let all dwarves sleep in a huge barrack and have a meeting area in the same room, will that stop any attacks from happening? Since he will be spotted if he does

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Prioritizing within a stockpile?
« on: February 21, 2012, 08:02:38 am »
You can make one small stockpile with it, and a bigger stockpile without it. That way you can make one third of the collected stone be shpalerite. That way you can solve your problem.

To actually prioritize to have a third in one stockpile is not possible.

But if you have a problem with ore and stone in your mining shaft you can make a one-scare garbage zone and then dump all your stone. Your dwarves can move all of the stone there. Then you can reclaim it afterwards.

2) The room is big for the death of dozens of future dwarves, but should the room have anything else besides the coffins?
3) Would it serve any purpose to do more then toss dead dwarves into the coffins?

I know tombs are special glitter rooms for nobles.  And memorial halls increase happy thoughts.

You can make a room from the coffin and assign a dwarf to it. It creates a happy thought knowing they have a place to rest after death. The more stuff in a tomb the happier dwarf. Some nobles may demand nice tombs (Who can blame them, they know they just come to the fortress to get killed anyway)

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How To Farm in 0.31.x (DF2010)
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:48:38 am »
The same thing happens to me, too. Whenever I try to place an above-ground Farm Plot (like I always do, I like making my Dwarves live like Humans), it says in yellow lettering, "No mud or soil for farm". But it always lets me place a plot there. I think this is a bug.

no, it isnt.
If the text is RED it really doesnt have it

If it says it isn't there but there is there anyway it seems like a bug to me..

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: large gems stuck on the ground
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:38:32 am »
"Claim option exists"

well, did you use it.. because if you claim them the "Claim"-option will go away and you will get a forbid option instead.

Or maybe they are marked for dumping, if you don't have a garbage pile they wont touch them then.

MOST LIKELY: You said they moved the stones around... Well stones go to stone stockpile, large gems go to finished goods stockpile (If I remember correctly, I usually don't touch gems),heck if you have one or if it is full.

Rough gems and cut gems go to a gem stockpile. Gems never go to stone stockpiles.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How come you guys don't bring the wagons?
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:37:00 am »
There are boulders in the ground that wagons can not cross, those needs to be smoothed.

Well, there is ramps in the rivers now, maybe they tried to walk to the other side and got caught in the water?

Sounds unbelievable though since dwarf have never tried to do so in earlier versions even if you had ramps.
