Can items inside a depot be swept away? I'm guessing no... I suspect the depot's item is inside the depot, like in the workshops.

But please try it and tell us the results, for the name of science. ;)

Oh, it gives you a discount on all item identification? That makes sense. I just realized that all the shops are giving me the same prices. It's just that the identification guys are charging more than 98 gold per ID.

Yes. I read somewhere that's supposed to be the ID guy in the Fighter's guild only, but in all versions the discount applies for all ID service.

I never keep track of shop prices... but I do know reputation has an effect on services. Also Fighter's Guild gives you a big discount on item ID. That's a big enough reason for me to stay in it... after getting/stealing what I need from the other guilds of course.

Any tips for melee?

I can use all bots one-on-one okay now, but got owned when I duel with Cymbidium vs Cymbidium. I have absolutely no idea how to get close enough to start my attacks without being attacked first on closing.

Keeping the opponent from running away is another big problem. The AI Cymbidium just flies away.

There is one thing that has not been mentioned. 

Use Dwarf Foreman.
Its an external program but it will save you HOURS of tedious job changes.

You can find it by going to the thread on my sig or using google for "Dwarf foreman"

I know about Dwarf Foreman for a long time... but I am not too sure about it, because it says it is prone to crash sometimes... I'd hate to repeat something I did 20 minutes ago because of a crash.

It does crash on occasion, but only dwarf foreman crashes, every instance so far my fortress has not lost a second of its 6 FPS plodding time.

Oh?!

So the crash is not in DF... not caused by Dwarf Foreman messing with Dwarf Fortress' memory, instead it's just a bug in Foreman itself?

I'll go check it out then... thanks for the news.

Also the performance of that game is a bad bad joke  ;D

If you are talking about Blitz mode, or Interception mode in server, it's because of those summon power-ups.

It seems your AI friends do not go for those, but AI enemies do. After a while your enemies would be swelling in number and your FPS will drop like a stone.

I hope there is a way to turn those off, or put a cap to team size...

If you want lots of fun, try playing as Battleship Genocide.

Tried that already... I read about in the the guide. Doesn't feel really really really powerful though... that behemoth is not easy to maneuver, and I was expecting Marcross-like main cannon :P

I'd have to test if that works;

Most RPGs do not factor in item bonuses that affect stats that are only relevant on level up.
 
Somewhere on the wiki I read it is no longer possible to read a certain scroll to get more skillpoints on level up or something.

No clue what about the rubies.

Elona isn't most RPG. ;)

I just tested, wielding a rubynus sword (it gives +3 Life) boosted my health from 498 to 510.

I have to say I suck at this game. I tried a 1-on-1 with Selena, fighting an AI 98. I almost got killed... defeated it at the last moment with a lucky shot. Those grenades are really annoying, and AI is really good at blocking.

I kept at most two pages of animals as breeders... any more than that I will put into cages or slaughter for meat/leather. I create an inside/light area for the butchery and tanner's workshop so I have no trouble with the fat/meat rotting.

Sounds like a nice deal there, but how exactly do you manage those pets? Keep the number around 2 pages and only execute the ones you want. Do chained animals breed or something?

I recently started killing all the cats... I hate them for leaving all those pest corpses around.

Since cats are out, I just don't assign any animals to be available for adopt. If an immigrant comes with a non-cat pet, I let them move around freely... and let them act as breeders and die of old age or accidents.

Or spend a lot of change material scrolls on your items... but that might change some properties you want to keep though.

It does? I guess I'll fiddle with the controls more... maybe I wasn't playing the correct game type.

Edit: I was playing "Interception"... for 1v1 practice, it should be survival. Then add an AI and assign it to another team.

BTW, do you notice some of the attacks are not accurate? For example,

Anthurium's super laser is a bit off to the left (since she's holding it with her left hand?). I know you're supposed to swing it around, but when you're shooting at a single target from far away, even one slight tap to the right will miss the target.

Many all range attacks are also useless when used in close quarters.

XP-B's attacks misses horribly (lands behind target) when used in medium range.

Edit 2: How do you control 2K's pitch when in plane mode (hold guard after double tap booster)? I found myself driving the nose into the ground no matter which key I press.

Also I wonder about Pet management and Construction management, what are your takes on those.

I personally just shove all my pets in one cage until I know what I do with them, but the problem I run into is I don't know what to do with them.

I kill all cats with the lever+spike trap. I let immigrants with a cat hang around for a bit to get happy, then I kill the cat(s).

The construction I just make a bunch of numbers in work management and hope 90 ROCK CRAFT or whatever is a good number for the year.

I usually start a fort already with something in mind that I'll export. Before I have things setup properly, I make rock crafts...
