Quick plant modding question: I'm trying to add saffron and I almost have it right but for some reason when the dwarves harvest it from a field they grab both the plant (crocus) and the "leaves" (saffron threads). I basically copied the Quarry Bush raws so I thought it would behave like a quarry bush, where they harvest ONLY the plant and then use up the plant processing the leaves to a bag. Does anyone know how I can make them not produce "leaves" when they harvest the plant? (the biome being underground is just to make them easier to test)

Would I have to create a special reaction if I wanted fruit that can be turned into thread? I'm assuming sticking this into a tree's raws won't work

CORPSEPIECE gives "cannot create item of that type". But FISH_RAW NAUTILUS:MALE worked. That's probably the way to go.

Does "SHELL CREATURE_MAT:(creature):SHELL" work?

No, the problem is the item field at the beginning. It doesn't recognize SHELL. I guess I could also try making raw mussels or something but I'm not sure how to do that either.

What do I have to type to make a shell, let's say from a turtle, appear? I can't get the createitem syntax right.

More cloth questions. Is there a way to make sure a reaction only uses a specific category (silk/cotton/wool) of thread? These two reagents are supposed to be silk and cotton respectively but they just end up taking any thread.

Is there any way for me to make cloth chairs called cushions? Or is the coffin/casket/sarcophagus type stuff hardcoded?

Making a cloth chair is simple enough:

Get rid of the material info and try using the [ANY_STRAND_TISSUE] tag.

Thanks, I actually used that tag while keeping my reagent info and it worked perfectly.

Is there any way to make a reaction use the raw hair you get from butchering rather than hair that has been spun into thread? I'm trying

I think it's just ignoring the first line because I can use any of the products from butchering an animal.

So I have a Duke, and in order for the King to arrive, all I need is 7500 worth of roads. However, with basic stone roads being cheap as hell, I'm at loss of how to satisfy that requirement other than build some roads out of solid gold. Is that the way to do it?


A road made from one bar of masterpiece dragon tallow soap will be worth twice that much. The easy way is to just build it out of platinum bars or something.

10 value per goblet x 40x multiplier for platinum x 3 goblets = 1200 total

Not to mention a possible quality multiplier.
☼Platinum goblet☼ = 10☼ * 40 * 12 = 4800☼ for a single goblet. So 3*4800☼ = 14400☼ from a single platinum bar.

All in all, soap's not really worth the effort. :)

A piece of masterpiece Dragon tallow soap is worth 15000. 25*50*12

Also you can't build roads and constructions out of goblets.

I believe you need a barrel of lye.  At least that's my experience.

How do I get the lye into a barrel?

edit: nevermind, finally got it. Also the base value of unicorn soap is 250, 25% more than a platinum bar.

That might have been true at one point but I don't think it is anymore. I've had several baronies but I don't think any of them satisfied those requirements.
