My dwarves use unicorns like the plains Indians used buffalo so in the interest of using every part of the animal I want to turn their fat into soap and build roads out of it.

I didn't forbid the lye or the bucket so that's not it. I've actually tried this once before awhile ago and had the same problem.

So I've got a ton of unicorn tallow and a bucket of lye ready. The lye is in a bucket in a stockpile right next to my alchemy lab, but whenever I try and make soap I get the message "cannot make soap, need lye bearing item".

Make Demons EVIL and turtlemen and seamonsters GOOD.

That worked, although I'd rather have them be evil and worship the wrong thing to be honest. Good to know for future reference though.

No, I mean that custom civ's entity entry. So, he'll have [SPHERE_ALIGNMENT:OCEAN:10000] and [SPHERE_ALIGNMENT:FIRE:0], so it makes it far more likely that his race will worship a [POWER] with [SPHERE:OCEAN] than [SPHERE:FIRE].

Tried this and it still didn't work. I guess I'll just have to deal with them worshipping the wrong power.

I tried it with 20000 and then with 100000 and didn't seem to get any noticable result.

Ok, I tried giving the
turtle entity

and the goblins and turtles still seem to pick the one to worship at random. I'll generate worlds where they both worship one or the other, or they both worship the opposite power.

I'm trying to get a race of turtle men I made to worship sea monsters. They do, but the other half of the time they worship demons. Likewise goblins now sometimes worship sea monsters. I've tried messing around with the spheres in the entity file and the worshipped creatures' files but that hasn't stopped it from happening.

They also don't build roads despite having the tag. Heres the code for the turtle men entity and creature, and the sea monster creature. Goblins and demons are default.

You can find the caves in fortress mode if you set them to be visible on the world map. They're still there, but 95% of the cave dwellers are just milling around on the surface.

I've noticed this happening alot. I'll get ambushed, kill whatever attacked me and not be able to travel. I'll look around for more enemies, not see any, then walk in one direction for five minutes and still not be able to travel. Something like 80% of the new adventurers I've made have just given in to starvation because I can't figure out how to travel.

On the item is an image of a dwarf and a kobold in Tower-cap. The dwarf is
making a plaintive gesture. The kobold is laughing.

This was back when creators held on to their artifacts forever. It was filled with goblin blood after the creator beat a theif to death with it.

This isn't a super-important aspect of the game, but I think it would be a good idea to add something like a [COOKED_TEXT:] tag to cookable items so you don't end up with roasts made of finely minced cave wheat flour and exceptionally minced strawberry wine. You could have "chopped" instead of "minced" vegetables, "sifted" sugar, "kneaded" flour and that sort of thing.
