Just tested on my current fort. An enormous corkscrew took 1 bar of copper to make, and when I melted two back down, I get three copper bars. I am assuming that with other metals it has remained the same, so should the bug be updated to this release as well?
This bug is still outstanding:

Try to fix it in the next release if you can.
"Is the active world worth having way less FPS in the first place?"
I just wanted to express my thanks again for all the quick bug fixes - really very much appreciated. One balancing issue that would be great to have fixed though would be the melting exploits... Its just too easy to find yourself duplicating metal when your short, rather than going at it the hard way...
As many I'm sure have said before me - please keep up the good work!
Will (Decorate item with X) and (Stud item with X) have any effect on the item apart from increasing it's value? I think studding a shield with steel spikes ought to improve shield bash and giving an iron hammer platinum studs should increase it's force on impact.
Quote from: LemundeThere's been some discussion about studded weapons since the big update earlier this year. Specifically I'm wondering if, for example, a silver mace studded with lead would do more damage than a normal silver mace due to the added weight?
Improvements to items don't do anything weight/damage-wise yet, but we'd hope to have it matter at some point.
Toady, is there a particular reason why this bug has not been fixed in the 2014 releases although you mentioned it as fixed in 2013? Not trying to bother you, just curious if it's an oversight or something. (And actually I haven't tested in the new version, just going by the dev log info.)
Back in the 90s, one of Japans tech schools got ahold of an unnamed Katana from the state after it was recovered from the bottom of the Tokyo river, they polished off the rust, edged it, strapped it to a hydraulic press, and tried to crush it, the blade SPLIT THE TEMPERED STEEL BLOCK IN HALF.
Toady did you see my question on page 3 of Dwarf Fortress 0.40.10 Released about the animals in cages graphics?
I think there were some annoyances with it until I get to item graphics, so I skipped it at the time. Not sure when I'll get to that.
