DF Modding / Some help with containers requested

Sorry to post it here, but ModdersWorkshop have thread-advancing-too-fast problem.

So. I'm trying to port alchemy bits from CivForge into .19 utilizing super-container-powers.
Main question. Can I specify more than one liquid-in-a-jar-o  as reagents or products?
I.e. can I do this:

DF Gameplay Questions / ASQ: how to take things out of bin

ASQ stands for Another Simple Question
So, I've made artifact vault, but forgot to disable bins in stockpile. Now I have three artifact level crafts in one bin and I can't get them out.
I've made another stockpile, I've tried dumping crafts, I've tried forbidding bin, I don't have any more ideas.

DF Gameplay Questions / Ambushes, caravans, starving cats... wait, what?

Suddenly I saw kitten corpse. Looked it in messages and found out that it starved.
Ok, I haven't touched DF in a few months and it seems I don't know about some new additions. Sorry for asking here, couldn't found that in wiki.
So. a) since what version animals require food?
     b) How much food/vermins required for a cat in season?
     c) Any other information.


... or it is because of inattentive modding?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Ice farming?

So I have aquifer and magma in freezing climate. What is the simplest and safest way to to farm ice?
I already see a possibility of unfreezing aquifer with magma, but my fortress isn't ready for massive magma engineering. Any techniques without using magma?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / How to find abandoned fortress?

Okay, so I am a noob for adv. mode. I built a pretty large fortress, but I am bored, so I want to tantrum spiral it or just abandon. Also made nice artifact vault. Question - how do I find it in adventure mode? I don't remember even where in world map it was. Thankfully world size is SMALLER.

Umm, I know this is cheating, but did anyone devised a tool for editing starting supplies? I think someone mentioned something like that. I want to experiment with some submegaprojects without bothering with setting up entire food industry.

DF Gameplay Questions / Some problems with dumping

So, I usually wait for first migrants to show up, and then designate every stone in fortress to dumping, creating quantum stockpiles. Now, in last game I noticed, that some stones aren't dumped. For 2 years. They are not unreachable, they aren't forbidden, they are marked for dumping... They just lie around, doing nothing... Ok, last one is normal, I s'pose, but still. Is this a sort of bug?

So, another dwarf withdraws from society. OK, so he is Weaver without any other skills.

Now, you see this is third time, two moods before ended tragically - I hadn't "thread... cloth..." or silk, so I bricked them up and left starving... cruel, I know... So I do not want third going mad.

Well? I built loom? but he doesn't react. What workshop he request?

Oh-kay, so
1) Well, what about building bauxite floodgate and connecting it to lever with a slate mechanisms? Wiki says that

I forgot about it, but it seems that floodgates are all OK.Or melting stone takes so much time?
2) can anybody give me some guidelines about military/defence? When should I start worrying about it?
3) I want to grow some outside plants. I build plot on grass without trees/ plot built? but nobody works on it/ Wassup&
4) just for fun - what about stuff made from ice (aka water in winter)?
+5) another fun recently - made outside of fortress somewhat high tower. At top I'm going to build quarters for nobles. anything special to note.

As it said above. IMHO the best forever is retractable bridge over magma... or chasm. You see, I didn't do any of this, these are my ideas. Is there any tricks I should know?

DF Gameplay Questions / a few questions about farming/food/water

oh-kay. Well, I found a somewhat fine place on map, with everything I wanted (well, besides magma). So there are questions.

First, does fertility level of soil depends on its type? for example, silt vs sand vs mud ?
Second, what can you say about water resources:
a) Will fish replenish in lakes from zero? It seems that rivers/brooks are infinite sources of fish.
b) Will water in lakes replenish in spring? And if lake was dried?
c) Am I understand correctly that _one_ dwarf with _one_ bucket carries _one_ water level from _one_ tile?
d) How much water dwarf drinks? Because I once constructed well site like this:

X is floodgate, + is artifical wall(stupid dwarf entered tunnel and put floodgate behind nimself, effectively locking himself.)
And for about two years water level never decreased. Or artifical walls doesn't hold water?

Well, that;s all for now.

AND just another question before I forget about it - I'm currently using "The Mike Mayday graphics edition", and encountered a problem - I have to press 'enter' twice. All other keys working normally. Is this a bug or a feature?

DF Gameplay Questions / and another small question about barracks

Well, as I can see, I don't fully understand game mechanics.

OK, so I desided to make life of my dwarves a bit happier and built a lot of small rooms - 3X3 with bed in center, with door. Next I tried to discover military thoings and built barracks - a somewhat large room, about 6X10, with a weapon/ammo stack, two armor stands and two weapon racks and _one_ bed, which made barracks room.

Well, now HALF of my dwarves sllep in that room on a rough floor. What's up?


More stupidity I seen just once - when without any food/drink they continued to make parties... <dwarf>, Woodcutter cancels Attend Party: Hunt vermin for food...

Well, my Metalsmith went into a fey mood, and made artifact Iron Throne. Just for fun I wanted to put it into my mayor office, but i can't find it.
