Another video has been released showcasing the campaign map as well as another of the notable figures of the period, "Sun Jian".

The campaign map fly-over doesn't give you and idea of the layout of provinces or settlement locations but it does look very nice, showing mountains, rivers, plains and the coastline.

You want a real abherration? Something as simple as "what is that thing" (qu'est-ce que c'est que cette chose) literraly translates as "what is it that it is (than) that thing". And it's not like "qu'est cette chose" doesn't exist, nah it's just too litterary of an expression for vulgar people to be using on a daily basis  ???.

I now realise something that I thought was just an oddity in writing. I used to watch a cartoon called "Victor and Hugo", about two bungling french thieves, and Hugo would often say "what is it that it is". Now I know it was actually a direct translation of a french wording quirk. Thanks for that.

I did enjoy playing through Black and White, though that was limited because the game had no skirmish/free play maps so you had to play one of the 6-ish campaign maps over and over again for that.
There was also the expansion Creature Isle but I don't remember too much of that. It had more creature species and I think the maps had small mini-games set up to mess around with.
Black and White 2 was an interesting continuation. I remember the armies being fun to use but it also had no skirmish maps so you had to play through campaign maps with their objectives over and over again, limiting your experimentation with the later spells and tools.

As for the Fable series, I've played through 1 and 3 and enjoyed them both. I never played through Fable 2 since it was on XBox. The Movies I didn't play as much even though I was looking forward to it before release. It had a lot of detail and fun mechanics but I think it was a bit too easy similar to more recent Tropico games where the mechanics don't impact gameplay as much as they should.

I remember Spores space age being fun to explore but as soon as you met up with multiple alien races they'd all start asking you to do tasks for them. Not doing so meant they'd get angry with you and eventually go to war. I've only played the base Spore game.

My favorite god game is still Populous: The Beginning. Summoning volcanos and meteor storms, sinking buildings into the ocean with erosion and earthquakes. The game has so much to do with what it gives you.

Oh man, for once Youtube's sidebar videos did me something good; it reminded me that these new Disney shorts exist, and apparently are still being made. I could make recommendations, but honestly they're all worth watching, and they're nice and short too so it's not a huge commitment to watch a few every now and then. Art and animation style is kind of a hybrid between old school and modern, and it's really fucking well done if you ask me. Top notch animation and humour that hits all the right notes for me, what else could a man wish for? :v

Thanks for this, I've been enjoying them as well. They do have a nice amount of detail put into them as well as lots of small reference. I've been watching some of the older episodes as well and, while I do still prefer the hand-drawn ones, these newer shorts seem to have a faster tempo and better timing on jokes. The backgrounds are also really nice, looking like watercolour paintings.

Time to be surprise Iceni again. I like to make big armies in Britain, then sail to Egypt and stuff, to start EXTREME long range wars.

Have you, by chance, read the "A Scotsmen in Egypt" let's play?

New patch coming out within the next day or so (21st June 15:00 BST).

It also reveals the new unit for the Queen and the Crone DLC that was being hinted at, the Kharibdyss.
Creative Assembly description: "Excelling at munching on other monsters, the Kharibdyss may be slow and lumbering but its poisonous armour-piercing attacks are some of the hardest hitting in the game. Its terrifying presence and abyssal howl reduce the most courageous leaders to mere shadows of their former selves, and even dragons may end up reduced to little more than a mid-battle snack by one of its many mouths."

Patch notes on Creative Assembly's blog.

Spoiler: Patch Notes (click to show/hide)

Things of note in the patch are;
- All Bretonnian peasant units gaining Expendable.
- Empire Halbadiers gaining Expert Charge Defense instead of Charge Defense vs Large.
- Rogue Armies should spawn normally
- Bone Giant is now a construct and not undead.
- Crone Hellebron's Cursed Blade ability is no longer bugged to deal large amounts of damage over time.

Hotdamn, that's affordable. If I want a single ticket to Amsterdam (no retour), which is about 1h and 10 minutes travel, it costs me 25-30 euros.
It is possible however to get a rail membership card for about 100 euros per year, which takes off 40% of all prices outside of rush hours.

Train network map for Melbourne.

I think it costs around $15 AUD (9.64 EUR) to get a train from Melbourne to Ballarat (1h 40m trip NW of Melbourne. Price is for 2h rail usage. All day is $30 AUD) With about half that for concession. A longer trip to Horsham (a town further NW) would take about 4h 30m and booking a ticket would cost around $40 AUD (25 EUR) for 1 adult, full fare, economy. The Myki ticket service extends outwards from Melbourne but further you have to book tickets on the V-Line service.

I think this is all correct. I don't make trips further out of the city so I'm using their fare calculator here.

Myki fee for Metro Train/tram/bus costs $4.30 AUD (2.75 EUR, 3.19 USD, 2.40 GBP) for all travel for 2 hours. There's also free tram services throughout the Melbourne CBD. Trips using the V-Line rail or coach varies depending on location and distance.

The train system in Melbourne is well used to get in and out of the city.
Overall I think it's maintained fairly well but stations could do with better cleaning and facilities. One of the bigger issues I think is the need for new stations since the suburbs have expanded quite a lot since the 80s - 90s. Several stations reaching further out to the south east into the country were closed around 1993 but with larger populations out there having them reopened would be beneficial. Though more lines would be needed leading into the city as it does get crowded during peak hours.

Camberwell Station in Eastern Suburbs.
Richmond Station. Major station leading out to eastern/southern suburbs.

I'm trying to look for a game where you explore while inside a mobile base of some kind. I don't really mind the setting, whether it's space, underwater, on land, as long as I can modify the base and it's mobile and exploration is involved. A great example is Subnautica with the submarine Cyclops.

Anyone have any ideas?

Space Engineers lets you build a spaceship that can be large enough to be a base.

I think Starmade also can be played like this. Though I haven't played it recently to know to what degree. Resource gathering was kind of tedious with large amounts required from what I remember.

Seeing as we're getting more details on their upcoming title, a thread specifically for Total War: Three Kingdoms should serve us well.

"Total War: Three Kingdoms" is planned to be released come March - May 2019. Based on the period of rebellion and unrest between 169 - 220A.D, starting near the end of the Han Dynasty.

Total War: Three Kingdoms E3 Gameplay Reveal.

I am quite interested in the new setting Creative Assembly have chosen for their next game. While I know there is quite a lot of games based on this setting, specifically from the japaneses developer Koei Tecmo with the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" series and "Dynasty Warriors" it'll be interesting to see another companies take of the setting.
I must mention that I know very little of this period myself. I do own the book, as monolithic as it is, and should get around to reading it sometime, though it seems like the setting is complicated enough that I'd have to do multiple readings.

Things of note from details so far:
- Game will have two modes: Hero and Historical mode.
- Heroes will be able to duel each other during battles.
- Heroes have items that can be looted from them if they're defeated. (I assume this will be similar to how it's done in Warhammer: Total War).
- Cities can be set on fire like in Attila: Total War.
- Different leader focuses (Combat, Strategy).
- Cities are the fully on the battle map, unlike Warhammer: Total War where they're a single wall.
- Modding support with the Assembly Kit is planned, like in previous Total War games.

I suppose, more then anything, I'm looking forward to seeing the cities designed and modeled. The architecture of chinese cities at the time is very impressive and I'll get a lot of enjoyment just from zooming around looking at the buildings.

The dueling system seems interesting. The gameplay video shows one and it seems that the heroes will dismount each other then fight on foot. A bar shows which hero is winning with a lot of choreographed animations that's nice to see.
Though, such dueling systems reminds me somewhat of what was in Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. In that game duels could be held between lords but you had to click buttons for abilities. It was tedious and often a choice between winning with your lord and losing your army or winning with your army and losing your lord. I'm sure it won't be as annoying in this.

The next patch is in the works, a beta has been put up on Steam as well as a list of things we can expect to be fixed.

Spoiler: Copied from Blog Post (click to show/hide)

The major things amongst this is Crone Hellebron's ability from her swords working as it should, as well as rogue armies spawning during campaigns correctly.

Also, friggin Surtha Ek.

They ruled against the methodology of the initial prosecution rather than anything to do with cakes or hot, sweaty, homosexual relations, in a continuation of SCOTUS's proud tradition of dodging the question as hard as possible.

To be faire, in complex cases like this one, ruling narrowly when possible isn't a bad principle to have. You don't want the court to rule the country.

I remember watching this a while ago about it, if people are interested. Video by Leonard French back in December.
