@Neonivek: Hm, maybe I'm just not observent (a possibility as I never had many bugs when playing Oblivion or Skyrim) but I haven't had many bugs. The one that I remember the most was a bug where loading a save game caused queued buildings to instantly be built for the computer but that's been fixed now. Stardock has released two patches since it came out late October that have fixed most of the major issues.

Copied from Steam page. It'll give you an idea of the bugs that have been fixed.

As for the game itself, I like it. It's got a lot of mechanics that give a nice sense of power to magic beyond casting spells in combat. I can enchant cities with Bless to quell unrest or curse enemy cities to increase unrest, I can cast a volcano on an enemy town to obliterate it off the map or summon a meteor to strike a specific area. I can enchant heroes with permanent buffs to give them increased armour and resistances at the cost of a mana upkeep.
One of the selling points was the ability to make custom units and the mechanic is sound, though sometimes there seems to be little reason why I would give a unit anything but the best equipment available beyond the build time being high.

If you've played Master of Magic, it is quite a worthy successor though lacking in the racial differences. So there's no choosing Dark Elves for increased mana generation or Halflings for slingers or Klackons for xenophobia.

Ooo, heh heh. Sorry about that. I've been adding the image links by copy pasting one and changing the number.

@Sheb: I haev trained some militia to watch over the town while my heroes are away in response to that attack. Though, as it stands the animals I have with me are usually better in some way, be it faster or special abilities. All units gain experience and this includes my wolves and spiders, so they steadily gain more health and attack.

@Stworca: Thanks, I like the challanging nature of the monsters, though having a powerful spell or unit to aim for that helps level the playing field makes the struggle much more enjoyable for me.

I'm still having a few issues with image screenshotting and editing. It's been a while since I did my Sims 3 one so I've forgotten the process I used. Blah blah blah excuses.

Onto the game!

There wasn't much substance to the first update what with it being all introductionary and all, so here's another lot.

I apologise for all spelling mistakes, I'm a stickler for proper spelling but things just slip through.

I actually preferred Ele : WoM to Ele : FE. They have made the game annoying with new camera controls and weird map layout

Good luck, nonetheless.

Thanks! Do you mean how the camera can't be moved by mouse scrolling sometimes, and how do you mean the map layout?

You are right, but I've played more Heroes of Might and Magic than Master of Magic (I haven't played Age of Wonders) so that was the connection that jumped to my mind first.

Play With Your Buddies / Let's Read Along: Elemental: Fallen Enchantress.
« on: November 25, 2012, 04:07:32 am »
Welcome, I've been thinking about doing another let's play and I'm proud to add to the mass. :P

Now, while I haven't played Elemental, it's pseudo sequal Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is a ball of fun. I've seen that people have done Let's Play's of Master of Magic in the past and Civilization IV. It's really a combination of both, along with Heroes of Might and Magic style combat. The big feature of Fallen Enchantress is the customisation. Throughout the game you research new items, weapons and armour. These can be used by your heroes and you can also design your own troops and equip them with the same items to a degree as they cannot use items you find in the game world. So no giving them weapons of +10 arse whupping.

From the outset, I'm not that experienced with 4x games. While I have played Civilization IV and V, Galactic Civilizations II as well as Master of Magic (briefly) I tend to not have any definite long term goals aside from win and forget things while playing. Now, my excuses aside...

I shall continue playing and have another update soonish. I have to order notes, files and folders as well as remember to resize images after I've added text. Any opinions so far on the format?

See you next time!

I thought about mentioning Space Jam, but it had live action in it, though it's in the same style as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". I liked it, even though it's rather marketing then anything, the nerdlucks are still some of my favorite characters.

I do prefer Civilization V's combat system over Civilization IV's, percentage chances doesn't appeal to me in such a setting.
