Keep searching. Monsters have a tendancy to wander around the place.
And go get a party of drunks. They'll help you in locating monsters.

And I think that save/load problem was fixed in a recent version.

Yeah. By that time, they were already so soaked that even the fire had no effect.

Just a thought, but couldn't I create a locked door right at the front of the chasm, then fill it with magma? That way, the enemy's wont even be able to get onto land!

Just to point out, I'm a person that loves setting loads of traps instead of forming a military.
1: I'm at the chasm in the game now. Do you think I'd be better off to fill the chasm straight away with magma and thus kill all the chasmcreatures, or should I put up with the chasm as it is, until I reach the magma normally?
2: If I do fill up the chasm, will magmamonsters then be able to come out of the chasm?
3: What would be the best way to fill up the chasm?

I already did this yesterday, actually. 20-storeys high, which is as tall as I could make it.

The worst part was finding out wooden walls and floors are unburnable.

One less-than-cool discovery I made was that wooden walls, wooden floors, and wooden 20-storey oddly-shaped towers are unburnable. Aw.

Also, where do you find Adamantite and demon-pits?
