The man took a moment to breath and then explained, "The river sir, they were crossing the river. Was only a few now, but more will surely come. My gran lives outside the walls, I'm mighty worried for her safety, please help."

Although the trio chatted peacefully, trouble was already brewing. A young man, barely more than a boy, ran up to them. "Lord Hagen!" he cried out, clearly in a panic, "Bandits sir! Please, help!"

The boy's outburst swiftly spawned a small crowd of onlookers, all curious to see what the noble in their midst would do.

OOC

Having set off for the kingdom of Balthar, Hagen Albin and his two trusted companions must first cross the treacherous lands of Renmar. They stay the night at a village on the border, resting in a bed for what may be the last time before their journey reaches its end. Although their travels are sure to be difficult, their mission is of the utmost importance, leaving no time to waste...

"He was perfectly behaved, you must have an excellent trainer back home." the stable hand complimented Astrid as he handed her the reins.

Retrieving Astrid's horse was the last bit of preparation the three travelers had to do before setting out. The next leg of their journey would take them into Renmar, only a small river lay in their way. Once their, things would become much more dangerous, so they were taking their time packing up.

Eilyth

"I don't think we should just head right for the end." Jane objected, "I'm all for saving the world from that monster, but we need everything in place to do that, we can't just rush there."

"We have to rush." Allia said, "Things are coming to a head whether we're ready or not. Even if we can't find someone to fix everything, I have to at least win the game. I shouldn't have let Kallisto get away with winning over and over again for so long."

"We still need a better plan than just hoping we find someone along the way. Surely you must have at least one idea?" Jane insisted. She glanced around at Eilyth and Patty as well, open to just about any suggestions.

Patty shook her head, "I don't know. But if we're going to beat that thing then we're going to need some help. What about heavy hitters? Anyone know who would have our backs for something insane like this?"

Silvia

Mirala shook her head. "Nowhere here, we need to get this back to Katria as soon as possible." She frowned, "But we also have a lot more to learn here." Her eyes lit up as she remembered, "Oh right, what was it you found?"

They would need to find a way to relay this important information back to Katria, but rushing out in a hurry would cause trouble. For the moment, the best they could do was focus on consolidating information and searching for a way to pass a message discretely.

Lunete

With the hapless Shinko KO'd on her shoulder, Lunete was able to stealthily creep after the Katrians. The stares she got from the sparse passerby didn't impede her stealthiness, and she was able to sneak up on the Katrians just in time to hear the one with the fancy cloak that made her look like a wizard ask what her apprentice had found.

Monika and Kirari

Faith waved her hand at Kirari, "Bosslady has me looking at reports, so I can help you out Miss Spookems." she seemed to perk up a little at the idea of having help with the task.

Cay shook her head at Monika. "There's absolutely no way we can beat Saro Ven. Emmery says she could win, but that she'll be 'busy with the steward'."

"Yes." Emmery confirmed, "I will hold back the Lightning long enough for you to defeat Arrow."

"Emmery..." Cay chided softly.

"No, I will not speak more clearly." Emmery said firmly, "Not for you, anyways. Those who should know can already understand."

Yava

Malakai guffawed loudly. "That's what we like ta hear!" she announced. Siren giggled a bit as well. "Why don't ye start by keepin' me little girl company fer a bit? I'll go fetch tha quartermaster ta make arrangements. Tha two o' ya can even start tryin' ta work out where yer target be."

Astarte

Teya smiled. "You're no ordinary woman, are you?" she said cryptically, "Very well, I'll help you out. I don't know Ambrosia's current whereabouts, but I know who to ask. How do you feel about taking a trip to Perdition?"

Danger stirs within the High Kingdom of Talstas. The power hungry Kingdom of Enfir has attacked it’s militant neighbor Balthar, seeking to lay its claim to Balthar’s rich resources. Though powerful, Balthar proves incapable of standing alone against the mighty Enfirian magic. In a desperate attempt to fight back, Balthar begs the aid of its peaceful ally, Alketh. A young noble, the king of Alketh’s nephew, is dispatched to meet with the King of Balthar and discuss an alliance.

Yet something more sinister waits beneath the surface. A deep power has been raising the dead across the land, villagers are being attacked frequently by both bandit and monster alike, and entire tribes of beastkin have vanished into thin air. Faced with these challenges and more, the young noble must gather a group of powerful allies to his side if he hopes to protect the home he loves from the evil that surrounds it.

What’s This?
This is a test of my Simplified Fire Emblem on the Forums system, AKA SimpFEF. The manual talks a bit more about that, so I’m going to focus on the story here. This story is meant to be a very straightforward and basic FE story about a hapless lordlet who finds himself caught up in a clash for the fate of the continent. There will be spooky monsters, mysterious sages, a scheming sorcerer, and possibly even an evil dragon.

The other players will take on roles in the story around the noble, playing roles such as loyal friends, helpful guides, or stiff warriors. Through a healthy dose of teamwork and friendship, they will help the young noble pave the way towards heroism.

Specific Rules/Testing Expectations
The game will be played in casual format with 3 wounds. EXP will be gained based on the damage calculation with pity levels when 5 levels behind. Growths will be random. I'll be expecting active map participants to post extremely regularly to help keep up a good pace through maps. You'll also be expected to actively discuss turns in the Discord. So before placing yourself in the active group, please ensure you'll be available to converse, not just post a move when prompted.

Due to the heavily experimental nature of this RP, I expect to be actively balancing as I go. This will make things fairly unstable, and even the weapons in your inventory (especially those) may change between maps.

Casting Call
The following are the roles to be filled before the story can begin. Extras are welcome once these roles are filled, although I’ll be a bit choosy about what goes through (If six performers wanted the Special Friend slot, I am not going to suddenly let them all in). I’m not putting down a hard maximum for players, but individual maps may have a limit on how many extras I allow.

Classes do not have a ton of associated lore, but your primary base class and intended final class should at the very least not contradict your role in the story.

Map 1
Lord (Unique class, will discuss)
The child of the Duke of Vitra and the main protagonist of the story. Someone who cares about injustice and is willing to fight to make a stand.

Knight Archetype (Cav, Knight, Archer, etc)
A close retainer of the Duke and childhood friend of the main Lord.

Healer (Cleric, Troubadour, or Nurse)
A healer in the employ of the Duke, entrusted with the Lord’s wellbeing.

Map 2
An Unexpected Friend (Basically any physical foot unit)
An unlikely ally willing to assist in a time of need. Has a reason for why they’re traveling through the forests of Renmar.

Map 3
Obligatory Magic User (Mage, Monk, Dark Mage, Tactician)
A mage of any kind traveling for their own reasons. Willing to fight monsters.

Obligatory Flier (Peg. Knight, Peg. Scout, Wyv. Rider)
A flier of any kind, sent by a friend of the Duke or as a messenger from Balthar (discuss for the latter).

Map 4
Lovable Scoundrel (Thief, Hunter, Pirate, etc)
Someone who isn’t exactly on the up-and-up, but still willing to help out with their roguish charm.  May or may not actually be up to something (can discuss).

A Special Friend (Performer, Villager, Beastkin, Manakete)
A person of unusual origin caught up in the events of the story (must discuss).

Main Cast
Hagen (Lord)
Astrid (Knight Archetype)
Valerie (Healer)
Cadence (Unexpected Friend)
Benedict (Obligatory Magic User)
Judith (Obligatory Flier)
Lulu (Lovable Scoundrel)
Nima (Special Friend)

Important NPCs
Amara (Battle Granny)

Aquarius

Aquarius moved stiffly as they traveled through the slums. He may have voted for it over public transport, but that didn't mean he was anything than disgusted by his surroundings. Whenever one of the vile creatures attempted to draw near to the group, he bared his teeth at them in warning. A couple nervously attempted to smile back, apparently misjudging his expression, although he neither noticed nor cared.

Noticing the interaction between Ea and the boss, Aquarius intervened to assist. "She's sayin' she wants to check on somethin'." he translated. He didn't quite catch everything Ea said, but his line of thinking was similar, "Might be someone followin' us?" He half-translated, half asked Ea.

278
Aquarius

Aquarius winced a bit at both suggestions. Mingling with the infected was a disgusting prospect, as was the idea of being crammed into a crowded bus. If he absolutely had to choose, "I vvote for the slums as well."

Yava

Siren looked as if the ship's anchor had just crushed her. Her mother moved quickly, placing a reassuring hand on the girl's shoulder. It didn't seem to help much.

"Aye, we can find a way ta use ye." Theresa said dramatically, prompting a slight giggle from Siren. "But arr ya sure ya want ta be signin' on with a group o' no-good scallywags like meself? We won't be takin' it easy on ye just because yer polite."

Theresa grinned and winked at Yava, making sure Siren didn't catch the gesture. Her antics seemed to work, Siren was struggling to hold back laughter. An odd sight to say the least: A terrifying pirate lord playing the part of an overworked single mother.

Yava

Siren shook her head. "My dreams are never that specific." she explained, "A hooded woman brings a one-armed woman here. They're looking for someone. In return for our help they offer to help us with something important."

Jessie

Iyeseteru finally gave Jessie some of her attention. "One who world steal away knowledge cannot be seen as a haven." she said cryptically.

Brhind Jessie, Farore hadn't budged. Also, Hellia had been quiet. Hopefully that meant the tinkerer was up to something.

"It's alright, Iyeseteru, I'm going with Alice because she's safe." Farore said, "Please let me go."

"I can't, these thieves are set to sell you to the Neridan government." Iyeseteru said, "Perhaps this one has promised you safety, but can she speak for her comrades?"

Monika and Kirari

"Nothing you haven't already heard." Cay informed Monika, "Flying vehicle, Saro Ven, and the entire southern army brought to bear. It looks bleak and brass has it on our shoulders to save the day. I don't think anyone really knows what to do."

Yava

Siren looked confused. "Um, you're supposed to know that." she said, "Maybe you need to find the one-armed woman first?"

Monika and Kirari

Cay nodded politely to Kirari, showing no apparent reaction beyond that. "Once more, welcome to you both." she said, "I'm Captain Caylan Hutton, Cay for short. That's Warrant Officer Faith Carralie, the tank out back is hers."

Cay pointed to a very young girl sitting in the corner and looking extremely bored. The way she was dressed made her look like a mechanic straight out of the slums. Faith's bright blue eyes and fire-colored hair stood starkly against her charcoal black skin. She didn't seem too far out of the ordinary, beyond apparently being a child soldier, until she turned to look at the new arrivals, revealing her missing arm.

Before Cay had a chance, the next woman introduced herself. The blonde girl jumped forward to dramatically salute Monika, nearly stumbling and falling in the process. "Sally Furlough." she announced cheerfully. She bounced with ceaseless energy, her green eyes flitting about to every facet of Monika and Kirari. She was definitely going to be a handful.

By process of elimination, the last was Emmery. That process wasn't necessary, Emmery stood out more than Faith's eyes. She was laying on the ground motionless, her eyes open but unseeing. "First Lieutenant Emmery Canniba." Cay introduced her, "She's resting right now, so try not to get in her range without letting her know first." Cay pointed to a ring or rope placed to indicate the safe distance.

Unexpectedly, mostly because she didn't move beforehand, Emmery spoke. "Fate, it's nice to meet you." she said, "The Master has many good things to say about you. I'm looking forward to the short time we'll have together."

Jessie

Iyeseteru ignored Jessie, focusing on Farore. Farore didn't say anything, just stared. She didn't seem to know anything about her "loyal knight."

"Mission complete, we've got the girl." Lali announced over comms, "Interloper is still a problem, get away from her without causing a scene if you can. Mack says she can handle it if you can get to her. She's a couple miles north in an empty lot."

"Steward, please." Iyeseteru pleaded, "You may not recognize me, but you must trust me. I owe you my life, you can entrust me with yours."

Farore shook her head in the stubborn way that only children can. "No, I'm going with Alice."

Yava

Siren's confusion deeped. "You're supposed to have a one-armed woman with you." she said, "Two women arrive together, one with a hood, the other missing an arm. They're looking for someone, we can help them, but only if they help us first."

Monika and Kirari

Monika and Kirari had been a part of larger battles before, but the force gathered to fight Neridus was absolutely massive. The main camp could hardly be called that anymore, now edging on the size of a small city. Their new unit was set up near the center, emphasizing how important it was despite its small size. This would be their first time meeting their new allies. With war ready to break out at any moment, getting acquainted would have to be done fast. Of course, Monika had been given files on each of their new members, so she knew what their weapons did, but what kind of people they were was still mostly unknown.

Upon entering their tent, Monika and Kirari were immediately greeted by exactly one salute. "Major." the dark-haired woman greeted Monika stiffly, "Welcome to the Wrath of God. We've already received word that you'll be taking command, and I've already handled the paperwork on this end. Given the time crunch we're in, I think it would be best to skip any further formalities and move directly to introductions."

Yava

"Well, um." Theresa hesitated.

"We ain't figured that bit out yet." Cordelia explained.

"We were hoping you might have some ideas." Theresa said, scratching her head sheepishly, "You're here for the future seer I've supposedly got on payroll, right? Come on, I'll show you. Benni, can you hold down the fort?"

"I'll handle it Riza, good luck." Benni answered.

Theresa led Yava to a room deeper in the ship. Inside was a young adult woman who looked like a younger, less piratey version of the captain. A nasty-looking scar crept over the low neckline of her shirt, the kind that came from wounds you weren't supposed to survive.

"Siren, how're ye feelin'?" Theresa asked.

"I'm fine mom, did you need something?" the girl asked.

"We found tha cloaked girl ye've been dreamin' of."

Siren glanced around Theresa's larger-than-life figure to spot Yava's more miniscule self. "Hi there." she said to Yava, "It's nice to finally meet you." her brow furrowed a bit, "But... where's the woman with the missing arm?"

Yava

"Aye, ye've heard true." Captain Malakai confirmed, "I s'pose ye were hoping fer a taste o' tha future. Ye don't be the first." She grinned maliciously. The room seemed to darken with a malignant fog as Yava was faced down by the mighty sea captain. Her life hung by a mere thread, one wrong step and she would b-

"Lay off Riza, we want her help don't we?" The blonde cut through the atmosphere with precision and ease.

"Awww, why'd you have to go and say that. I was having fun." Theresa pouted.

The blonde ignored her. "Benni Cutthroat," she introduced herself to Yava, "I'm the quartermaster, which means I run the ship while thunder thighs here roleplays that she's in charge."

"Hey!" Theresa protested, "I am in charge." she looked at Yava, "Don't listen to Ben, she's just a killjoy. I do be tha cap'n," she grinned again, "I just also like to put on a show."

Yava

Yava was able to glean a lot of information from her observations. For starters, One-Eye was called Cordelia. She also noted that most of the pirates were wearing fairly normal clothes, save for a few patrolling where they would be visible from the shore. Meisters seemed relatively common, Yava counted about ten total, including Spackle and Cordelia. Every one of them seemed to have their weapon as a prosthetic of some kind. She didn't catch why the crew was partying, but she could tell they were going hard.

Cordelia's direction brought Yava to the bridge, currently occupied by only two women. One was a tall, skinny woman who looked rather boyish with her pale blonde hair haphazardly cut short. The other could only be the captain.

Though not as tall as the blonde, Theresa Malakai managed to make everyone in her presence feel small. Everything about her seemed to stand out. Her violet eyes set with confidence and power. Her curly dark brown hair adorned with tassels and beads. The scramble of scars and disfigured nose on her tawny brown face. Her magnificent bosom struggling to be restrained by her oversized rust red coat. The oversized hat that cast a shadow over all in her presence. And of course, the ridiculous quad-barrel shotgun set so casually beside her that could only be a holy weapon.

Aside from the hat and coat, she worse a nice dress shirt, skirt, and brown leather boots. Though height-wise her stature wasn't worth commenting on, her muscular limbs were of definite note. She was a strong woman who carried herself like a leader, an image that had surely helped her survive in the cutthroat world of piracy.

"Cap'n, you've got a guest." Cordelia announced.

The captain and the blonde both looked towards the door. On spotting Yava, the captain grinned, revealing a golden tooth nestled among the rest. "Ah, tha girl with tha cloak. Welcome aboard." she said jovially, "Cap'n Theresa Malakai o' tha Promise o' tha Profaned Oyster, at yer service." She made a mock bow, clearly enjoying herself. "Why don't ye introduce yerself?"
