Name: Lee Ito

Personality: Lee is as easy going as a man fighting for the lives of everyone he knows can be, deciding to enjoy the little things knowing that they can be gone at any moment. Keeps a cool head even when under fire. Prefers to spend off-time lazing in the shade (or warm sun, depending on the day), will accept working in the sun/shade as a close second.

Appearance: (We're going super anime with this, right?) Finger-length purple hair in a messy style. Violet eyes slightly less purple than his hair, with a kind-looking face. He's on the smaller size of those living on Mount Sanctum, but just to the point of being below-average rather than tiny. If allowed to choose the color of his uniform he'll stick with his color scheme and wear more purple.

Level 1 (0 EXP)

Miner: [Reduces the AP cost of digging for resources]
Inventor: [Reduces the AP cost of crafting new items]
Mechanic: [Reduces the AP cost of repairing]
Researcher: [Reduces the AP cost of studying artifacts]
    Psychic: [Has an unknown effect]
Yo at level 1 you have 1 skill point

Mecha Name: Zaqiel

Mecha Appearance: This mecha appears to be a modified version of the standard design, with comparatively thinner armor leading to a slightly smaller overall profile. Despite what you may think this design change was performed to allow more mass to be diverted to weaponry, its comparatively small girth only serving to make the large weapons attached to it look even larger. Replacing the pseudo-pauldron is a box resembling a battleship turret with three medium-caliber barrels, going over the shoulder to protect roughly the same area. Armor color is white with black detailing.
There should not be any weaponry inherent in your base mecha unless it's your trait. This also seems large enough that it would potentially get in the way of larger backpacks. I might be misinterpreting and this is meant to be your attachment from down below, but in that case you should leave it out of the mecha description and exclusively note it in the attachment. Attachments are not part of the mecha, they're made to detach too.

Trait: Heavy Weapon Specialist: Zagiel has been down-armored and up-muscled allowing it to effectively wield large (or multiple) weapons easier than the average mecha. To this effect it becomes a glass cannon, focusing on firepower above all else.
Power Source: Power Core
Infrastructure: Steel
Armor: Intractium

Equipped Attachments:

Name (Type): Watcher Cannon Battery (Back)
Description: A built-in weapon system consisting of six medium-sized cannons attached the the shoulder as in Mecha Appearance. While capable of a powerful burst of long-range explosive shells, this weapon system is slow to reload and best used with a second weapon system or a companion who can keep the enemy occupied during off-time.
"Your initial attachment should be extremely simple." While you can have this sort of attachment as a long (or possibly even short) term goal, it's too complicated for a starter attachment. given your trait, I am fine with a slightly more complex heavy weapon system than I might otherwise allow, but it needs to be a good deal simpler than this.

Damage:
[Any damage sustained should be noted here. Damage to specific attachments should instead be noted with those attachments]
Overall, this is a good sheet and I'll be happy to accept it once the errors noted above are cleaned up.

Name: Milly Cook
I would really prefer if you stuck to the naming conventions of the RP. I know they're given as a suggestion, but that's only to leave openings for people who have a good reason to break them, you should consider them the default. Since your sheet is otherwise empty, I can't be certain that you do not have such a reason, so I won't say you can't have this name. But if you don't have such a reason, please use a name that fits the provided naming convention.

I assume Discord is mandatory for this one. I like what I see, but am hesitant since I personally prefer to keep forum roleplays to the forums. But if nothing else, the game, fluff and rules are very well laid out and clear. PTW at the very least.
Yes, Discord is a requirement. If you're really interested then I highly encourage you at least drop by the Discord and give it a chance

IC

A generation has come and gone since I and the other members of Saint Mecha drove off the Enemy invasion at the Battle of Tenchii Bridge. Since then the Enemy has remained silent, biding its time and preparing to march once more. Saint Mecha kept a vigilant watch for the day the enemy would reemerge. I alone now stand watch over our tenuous peace. And regrettably, I must now drag others into the battle that Saint Mecha and I were never able to finish.

The Enemy is stirring, the time has come for them to once again seek the eradication of all human life on Mount Sanctum. I cannot stop them alone, and that is why I called on each of you.

You are our future. Bright minded young psychics who can pilot the mecha that will defend us all from the Enemy. You are our freedom. Our chance to finally push the Enemy back and make this mountain live up to its name. You are our hope. The wings on which we will soar to greater and greater heights, carving the name of humanity into the annals of history as the ones who refused to give up in the face of insurmountable odds.

You are Saint Mecha X.

Discord

Setting

Hidden within the nooks and crannies of the fractured Mount Sanctum lie thirty villages. Their origins long-forgotten, the residents of these villages seek only to survive. But the mountain is a treacherous place. Across the Great Fracture there is an immense danger: The Enemy, a seemingly endless swarm of attackers whose goal seems to be the eradication of humanity. The only thing that stands in their way is the seemingly endless network of bridges that cross the Fracture.

The Enemy side of the mountain is covered with strange black machinery, giving it a deeply ominous feeling.

The mountain is a mysterious place full of long-lost secrets and ancient technologies. The origins of both the Enemy and humanity have been long forgotten, and rediscovering them has always taken a backseat to survival.

Escaping the mountain is generally considered impossible due to the treacherous jungle at its base that spans far and wide in every direction. A few have attempted to explore in flying mecha, soaring to the other mountains in the distance. But as they have never returned, it is impossible to say if they succeeded and chose to flee or simply perished.

Combat

Combat will be done in a guided freeform manner. Everything will be RP’d out without any direct interference from mechanical systems, however what is possible will be defined--and in some cases heavily limited--by a mechanical system beneath.

The Enemy will attack like clockwork, giving the players a week between assaults. During this week the mechanical side of the RP will come into play to govern what the players can do to prepare.

The goal of the players will be to prevent the Enemy forces from reaching and destroying a target, usually a village full of innocent people. Some combats may have multiple targets or multiple waves of attackers. A layout of relevant bridges and potential attackers will be provided immediately before each combat. More info here.

Fights will take place on a system of bridges between the two halves of the mountain, simultaneously restricting and encouraging mobility. They will primarily focus on whatever attachments the involved mecha have equipped and their unique traits, but things such as pilot skill, previous damage, and even the weather will come into play.

Speaking of damage, damage will be sustained in two forms: major and minor damage. Despite the names, these are not measures of severity, but rather situation. Any damage dealt directly by an opponent is major damage and will potentially impact the mecha throughout the rest of the fight. Minor damage, on the other hand, is not immediately noticeable and will only be revealed at the end of combat, impacting the next if it is not repaired.

In addition to sustaining damage, mecha can fail entirely, forcing a pilot to eject. Players will only die if their ejection system is damaged prior to mecha failure, and ejection damage can only be taken as minor damage, meaning a minimum of two fights are required to die. Further, you will rarely experience a total failure without already having a damaged mecha before combat, leaving plenty of time to recover.

When a mecha is destroyed, the pilot will have to find some way to construct a new one and will be unable to participate in combat again until they do.

At the end of combat all players are semi-arbitrarily rewarded EXP based on their performance and Enemy mecha are automatically salvaged for materials and technology.

Mecha

Mecha are large mechanical suits that are designed to traverse rough terrain more freely than traditional vehicles. They’re generally around 18ft (5.5m) tall.

The standard design has a simple T-shaped torso frame. The legs make up about half the height of the mecha and have their knees about 2/3rds of the way up, making for rather short upper legs. The feet are sturdy but flexible boot-like constructs that can easily find stability on rough surfaces. The arms reach halfway down the legs and have the elbows right at halfway. They have large hands made for easily grasping tools.

Armor is primarily placed around the lower legs and arms, as protecting the entire mecha would be heavy. This armor is wide and slanted to make it better at deflecting attacks away from the mecha. There is also a bit of armor placed along the top of the torso, to protect the core and any back attachments, which extends over the shoulders in a pseudo-pauldron.

The pilot is harnessed onto the front of the torso, with a variety of levels, buttons, and pedals protruding around them to allow control of the mecha. A large windscreen covers them from the front, protecting against the elements and enemy attacks both. This windscreen can be retracted to make space for a ladder, allowing the pilot to easily mount or dismount the mecha.

Basic mecha as described above typically have three colors. An infrastructure color, usually greyscale as painting the infrastructure is inefficient and doesn’t add much. A primary color, which is used for the main armor plating and some larger pieces of infrastructure. And a secondary color which is used for detailing and decals.

Mecha always have a power source, infrastructure type, and armor type. No mecha can be constructed without all three of these components.

Each mecha also has a unique trait that sets it apart from the others. This trait can be virtually anything, from a general design philosophy to a specific piece of technology. For example, a mecha intended to be better for aerial combat might have a general design of having thinner armor and fins attached to its arms and legs, or it might have a pair of large air intakes attached to each shoulder. The possibilities are fairly limitless, although mecha traits are not usually massively impactful. Traits are there to give mecha specialization and a sense of uniqueness, not to massively strengthen the mecha.

Levels, AP, and Skills

Between combats, players will be given time to perform a variety of actions that cost AP. For convenience, these may be done at any time between combats. Actions may be posted immediately and RP’d out after, posted as they are RP’d, posted after being RP’d, or posted at any time and not RP’d at all. AP is refreshed after each combat and cannot be stored, any unused AP will be scrapped.

Players may use their AP to do tasks for other players as well, and in fact it’s expected and will generally be more efficient than everyone doing all actions for themselves.

Each mechanical action will have an AP cost tied to it, and each type of action has a connected skill that reduces the cost of actions of that type by 1 AP per stat point, to a minimum of 1. One skill point is gained per level, and may be allocated freely to any skill. Each action type will be covered on its own later.

Players gain a level every time they reach 100 EXP. EXP will be granted after each battle based on performance, and exactly how much is gained will be somewhat arbitrary. Ejecting will immediately cost one full level and half of your current EXP, as well as preventing you from gaining any EXP for the battle in which it happens.

Max AP is equal to 2*level, although RP events may result in arbitrary reductions or increases to max AP at the GM’s discretion. Your total number of skill points is always equivalent to your level. The maximum level is 15.

Kirari

Trissy took the smallest sign of affection as license to do as she pleased. The briefest of scratching was all it took for her to jump up on the bed. She wasn't quite as aggressive as she had been with Doc, sparing Kirari the slobbery face bath. She just laid down with her front half pinning Kirari's legs. She wasn't super heavy, but she also wasn't a small dog, so Kirari's chance of escape was minimal. She was left with no choice but to pet the dog.

Doc and Renee had settled into their own conversation. It was just small talk, so Kirari could safely tune it out. It was a bit curious to listen to though, showing a very different side of Doc than what Kirari had come to know.

Verna, for her part, seemed to be glowering at the dog. For whatever reason, she clearly had something against the animal. Perhaps she was just a cat person. It was impossible to tell.

Kirari

"You have a wife?" Verna asked Doc, "But don't you get really mad when people try to ask you out?"

"There's a reason for that." Doc said flatly.

Meanwhile, Trissy had made her way over to the bed and was gingerly sniffing in Kirari's direction. Eventually she settled on setting her head on the edge of the bed and giving Kirari a pleading look.

Renee smiled at Kirari. "You're the Katrian girl, right? The one Eudokia has been in a tizzy over the past few days? I don't know what's wrong, but I wish you the best."

Eilyth

It was in the last seconds that Eilyth faltered. It didn't matter how attentive she was, lowering the beast to the floor was simply too difficult. It began to tip back, and she alone couldn't stop it. But she wasn't alone. Sensing the danger, Leah and Laurie jumped forward, bracing the cake with their bodies and preventing its collapse in the final moments. All breathed a sigh of relief, the worst was over.

Gingerly, Leah opened the box. Miraculously, the cake was largely intact. The icing had melted, certainly, but it had only drooped slightly, not formed a pool at the base of the box. It wasn't perfect, but it could have been much worse.

Yava

Solamon raised an eyebrow. "I appreciate you informing me of this." she said, sounding impressed, "In thanks for your kindness I'd like to extend another offer. After you've earned your freedom, how would you feel about a job? Surely you can't be living on the street by choice. I am more than equipped to provide you with whatever you need. In return, I would make use of your talents and weapon. But more importantly..." She seemed embarrassed to continue, but Yava had already seen that this wasn't a woman who backed down.

"More importantly," she continued firmly, "I am a total nonce when it comes to the ways of common folk and lowlives. My childhood was far too sheltered, I cannot fulfill my duty as a guardian of the people. I would like you to become my teacher in this regard."

Kirari

"What?" Verna cocked her head curiously, "Why wouldn't I want to go?"

Kirari didn't have the time to answer as the door burst open and a grey blur attacked Doc. An unfathomable sound like nothing either Kirari or Verna had ever heard erupted from Doc.

"Trissy, no, stop it!" Doc laughed as she halfheartedly attempted to prevent the dog from licking her face.

A dark brown skinned woman with long white curls was standing in the doorway. Her arms were crossed and she was doing her best to keep from joining in the laughter, but it was clearly a struggle for her. "Hon, did you actually instate an emergency code just to let your dog into a hospital? That has got to be an abuse of power." she scolded.

"Of course not!" Doc protested between giggles, "I made Camilla do it."

The woman who could be assumed to be Renee rolled her eyes. "Because that's so much better." Despite her sarcastic tone, she was smiling.

Doc finally managed to get Trissy down from her face and sitting on the floor, although the dog's tongue could not be sated and she continued attacking Doc's hand. "Thanks for bringing her, I really needed the support."

"You know I can give you support too." Renee feigned a pout, "Who're they?" she nodded in the direction of Verna and Kirari.

"The one in the bed is Kirari Arceneaux, she's the patient I mentioned. The standing girl is Verna Hembright."

"The Verna? The one you always talk about?" She smiled at Verna, "It's nice to finally meet you. I'm Renee Alabaster, thank you for taking such good care of my wife."

She mulled over the map in front of her. The pieces were finally falling into place, it would soon be time. She carried the weight of a hundred lifetimes on her shoulders, if she were to fail here it would be a hundred more before another chance arose. This was, of course, why she felt so miserable. Without even a glimpse of memory, it was impossible to achieve her goal. Her family had spent years passing down stories in the hopes that one day they might inherit that memory, but without success. But it was impossible for the memory to be forgotten. Even if it didn't belong to her yet, she could still find it and take control. That had been her plan, but now even that was beginning to seem impossible. She had even begun to doubt. What if her family was wrong? What if the memory could end?

No, she couldn't accept that. Her family's stories might not have carried the true memory, but she refused to believe that her entire life and the lives of those who came before were wasted. A true memory had to exist, and she had to find it.

As she contemplated her life's work, a prickling at the back of her neck beckoned her attention back to the map. What she saw drove her another step towards despair. One of the figures was moving. Vague though her power was, it had been easy to solve the identity of the erratic ball of yarn. Each piece represented either a key piece of the puzzle or a major threat. This one represented both. Currently it was looking to focus on its role as the latter. It was on a direct course to interfere with the piece shaped like the sun. It was an important piece, but she didn't yet know its identity. Protecting it would be difficult, but she had to try.

Kirari

Doc might have asked who Zoey was, if not for the fact that Kirari had managed to push exactly the right buttons on her heart to convince her that she had actually done the right thing. "You really mean that?" she said. She was genuinely touched to have made such a difference in Kirari's life. "Right well..." she tried to pretend she was still being tough on Kirari, "I can't exactly ignore the past, but I suppose I can trust you then."

Verna came back into the room. "She says she'll be here in a couple of minutes." she said, "But she's not sure she can get Trissy in here. This is a military facility, after all."

"I already got permission from the front desk, it'll be fine." Doc told her, "Did Renee sound alright?"

"I think so?" Verna said, "How should I know? I've never met her. Who is she anyways?"

" " Doc didn't say anything. Her expression was as impenetrable as always, but she seemed more surprised than annoyed. "Huh. I guess I haven't brought her up before, have I? I'll let her introduce herself then, since she's already on her way."

"Okay sure." Verna shrugged the odd interaction off and turned her attention to Kirari. "So where do you want to go for our date?" she asked.

Silvia and L

Cay listened intently to L's report. She noted Terra's absence, but chose not to mention it. If L didn't want to share, then there must have been a good reason.

In response to Silvia's question she said, "My apologies, Lieutenant, I should have led with that. Emmery's weapon is fused into her brain. She can perfectly analyze everything in her surroundings and manipulate it at its most fundamental level. No one is really sure exactly how it works, I'm told our best scientists can't make heads or tails of some of her explanations, even when she's lucid. But what it does is make her almost impossible to harm. Her major weakness, however, is the fact that her weapon is too powerful for her. There's too much information and if she isn't extremely careful with her focus then it overwhelms her and most of her brain's higher functions shut down."

Tarmo and Maddie

"Please, just Derreth out here." Derreth said, "DismaL isn't just my alias, it's a stage name and a character. Not a fella I like being when I'm off the field." He certainly seemed like a different person. He was still confident and intimidating, but there was a genuine warmth to him that just didn't exist in the arena. "I make a point of always checking up on my opponents after a match, especially the ones I don't know the real pain-pushers for, like yourself. I don't want to accidentally cause someone to have a mental breakdown because I unintentionally quoted their abusive father... again." Derreth scratched the back of his head sheepishly. He did his best to learn as much as he could about his opponents before a fight, both to help him find the right buttons to push and to avoid the wrong ones. Of course there were limits to that approach, it wasn't useful for unknowns like EtHun or intentionally kept secrets like Natasha's sex, but he did the best he could. He hoped that EtHun hadn't taken his attacks on her to heart too much. Though there was certainly a hint of truth to them, it was obvious that the girl was very talented, and he would hate to be the one who put her down enough to break her confidence.

Derreth nodded at the Dragon's comment. "You're absolutely right, Dragon. Which is why I avoid them like the plague. Natasha's right about one thing, pissing people off is a good way to make them hate you. Go figure."

Natasha tended to be right about a lot of things, actually. Derreth really valued the young man's counsel, which was why he'd been so keen to apologize for crossing a line in their last fight. Though he knew it wasn't reciprocated, Derreth considered Natasha his best friend. There weren't a lot of people who would put up with him after fighting even once, and even fewer after facing him dozens of times.

Kirari

Doc's tired eyes silently bemoaned the fact that she was the one stuck solving this dilemma. Kirari's openness made things easier, but Doc was still in way over her head. "You said you don't want to return to that." she said, "I'd like to believe you, but it takes a lot for someone to reach the point of attacking the undeserving. I won't ask how you got there, I'm sure that would be far too long a story. But I do what to know what changed. Turning away from that has to be just as difficult."

Not Jessie

Nobody tried to stop Jessie storming off, but Hellia did follow her exit with a curious and slightly annoyed look. Once Jessie was gone, she turned to Lali and raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, don't look at me." Lali said defensively, "I do background checks, not read minds."

"Not your fault, Lali. She's a damn brick wall." Mirth finally made her presence known, "I've tried to get her to open up, but the girl is tighter than Hellia's asshole."

Hellia shot Mirth a dirty glare.

"She's clearly got problems with this mission. Why not make it a test?" Mack said thoughtfully, "We entrust her with a key role, and if she turns on us we take her out."

"Or we could take her out now and be done with it." Hellia said.

"We need her. Changer is on break and this mission needs stealth." Lali pointed out.

Mirth was smirking again. "And we're not just gonna leave this girl to anyone else, are we? We're doing this mission."

"'Course we are." Mack confirmed, "When was the last time we voted no to something like this?"

"Then I say we keep Alice out of the loop. If she doesn't want to fucking trust us, then we won't fucking trust her either. If we don't tell her, then she can't snitch, and we don't have to murder her." Mirth offered.

"You sneaky bitch." Hellia said, catching on, "That's why you've been so smug. You're going to veto Mack's decision."

"You fucking bet I am." Mirth said with a grin, "Sorry boss, but Changer can't get a break just yet, we're gonna need her for my plan to work."

Mack and Lali both looked totally bewildered. "I ain't followin'." Mack said.

"I'll explain tonight." Mirth said with a wink, "For now, just play along. We don't want Alice to figure out that we're up to anything when she gets back."

"I require someone to raise this signal and attract the intended recipient." Sola explained, "You are as yet unaffiliated with me, so you can easily evade suspicion. If we can catch a member of whatever group is crafting these counterfeits, then learning the truth becomes a simple matter of interrogation."

Kirari

"As much as it might hurt to say, I need to know." Doc said, her tone surprisingly gentle given the circumstances, "Terrorizing entire towns means hurting a lot of innocent people. Was that your goal?"

Kirari suspected Doc knew the answer. Despite her initial shock, Doc had already fallen back into her standard range of emotions. She had most likely put enough pieces together to feel confident in a conclusion. Which meant she wasn't asking for the sake of knowing, this must have been some form of test. Not one of honesty, Kirari had no reason to lie, but something deeper, something emotional. If anything, the question was for Doc as much as Kirari. A question of her commitment, a question of her moral boundaries, and a question of her trust.

Kirari

Doc looked rather unamused. She pinched the bridge of her nose, her favorite gesture of frustration, and groaned. "This is absurd." she said to herself. Then to Kirari: "You know this is absurd, right?" She let her shoulders slump in defeat. "What about my life isn't absurd these days?" she muttered. She pulled her phone out of her bag, and for a moment Kirari thought it was all over. But then Doc chucked it at Verna, who caught it with her forehead first before she managed to get her hands in position to prevent an unseemly drop to the floor.

"Call the third number down, tell the man that picks up to put Renee on the line, and then ask Renee to bring Trissy here." Doc instructed.

Verna seemed confused, but ducked out of the room to obey.

"I believe you." Doc said after a moment of uncomfortable silence, "I can't think of any reason for you to lie and I've never heard of a Shadow power manipulating memories enough to brainwash you. Kira...ri, I don't know what to think. I don't have the framework to understand the things you may have done. I spend half of my days babysitting a homicidal maniac, I can turn a blind eye to the past, even when it's awful. But I don't understand your past or who you were like I do Verna. If you honestly plan to change, then I will do everything I can to help, but I need to understand first."

Yava

Sola froze. "A signal?" She said it as though she'd been given a revelation by Nerys herself. "But for whom? And why?" she mused.

After thinking to herself for some time, she returned her attention to Yava. "Say, Magpie, would you like to earn your freedom?" she asked.

Yava

Solamon let out a frustrated huff, more growl than sigh. "In other words, you don't know anything." she said. Her jaw was clenched with a quiet rage, not unlike the brutal cold that she'd shown when she removed Nyna's legs. She tossed the necklace back to Yava. "You can keep that, I've already gathered six. I thought them Nyna's, a provocation to draw out fresh victims, but I've come to suspect something deeper is afoot. At time I think I'm paranoid, but the simple answers simply don't add up. There must be something missing, some clue I've yet to uncover. I just need the smallest sliver of evidence to point me to the larger truth." She had no reason to tell Yava this, there was no trust between them. It seemed less like the princess was confiding in the thief, and more like she was a conspiracy theorist who had finally found someone too polite to run away.

Kirari

Doc didn't recoil in shock or disgust, but Kirari felt a wave of cold from the woman nonetheless. Doc's eyes flicked to her bag, noting the location of her phone in case she needed to call for help.

Verna, on the other hand, seemed to have had her mind completely blown. She stared at Kirari and quietly whispered, "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat..."

Despite her initial response, Doc didn't try to call for help or run away. She was still intent to face the consequences of her actions head on. "You're going to need to elaborate for me." she said calmly, "Kirari was last seen in Lanica, and you don't exactly look much..." she trailed off, as if first noticing the changes to Kirari's appearance. "Are you actually confessing to being the very woman that caused you to lose your home and memories in the first place? Forgive me, but I find that hard to believe."

Kirari

"That's good to hear." Doc said, genuine happiness in her voice. She might have seemed totally oblivious to the somber note falling over the room, but the hint of desperation that crept into her next sentence revealed the truth. "I guess I have a date to set up, don't I Verna?"

Verna, ever tactful, answered, "You have to hear the bad news first."

Doc's response wasn't annoyance, but rather a simple draining of energy. Her face fell and she looked like she was about to cry again. "What bad news?" she asked. She looked directly at Kirari, forcing a determined look into her eyes. Whatever had happened, she was going to face it head on.

Yava

Clank

The bars shut between Yava and the princess. Her legs had thawed during the drive, but by then it was far too late to escape. Her belongings, key included, had been confiscated when they entered the police station and they were now safely locked away, far from her reach. She'd spend the night in the holding cell while paperwork was filed to figure out what to do with her. Afterwards she'd probably be sent to the city court for sentencing. For such a small crime, she was looking at a couple of weeks, maybe two months, of jail time. There was one small positive, which was that Solamon had let her keep the food, it would have been thrown out anyways.

"Such a gaudy piece of junk." Solamon said, examining the confiscated necklace, "Why would you even take something like this? It's practically worthless."

Yava hadn't really given the necklace a good look when she'd swiped it, but a closer inspection and she had to agree. It was clearly a cheap piece of jewelry. Some of the gold paint had rubbed off, revealing that the chain was actually made of a silver material. Given the effort to conceal it, Yava doubted it was actual silver. And the gems were obviously fake to anyone with an eye for jewelry, probably just colored glass. In fact, the necklace was so painfully cheap that Yava was unsure why anyone would buy it at all. Cheap jewelry could be made at much higher quality if it weren't trying to perfectly mimic something more expensive, this looked more like a deliberate counterfeit.

Jessie

"As in integral to the mission." Lali explained, "If we can't get either you or Changer on board, we can't go through with the mission. If the group votes in favor of the mission but you vote against it, then we give you a veto in return for you coming along anyways, which you can use any time in the future to reverse one decision from another person. You can use it any time during a future meeting. Don't try voting no just to earn vetoes, you won't get away with it."

"Speaking of Changer, she's off the table. I've making an executive decision to give her a break." Mack said.

Hellia sighed, loudly, "So we're stuck with the newbie if we want to do this. You almost had me on board with the money, but I really don't think we can trust such a risky mission to Alice."

Mirth smirked a bit, but didn't say anything. She'd been oddly quiet the whole meeting, it was pretty obvious she was up to something.

L and Silvia

Cay nodded. "Yes ma'am." she said dutifully. Unlike L, Cay was totally awake and more than ready to get to work. She would probably be the one carrying the meeting. Such unusual synergies were why the two of them worked so well together.

"Garta is the same as always. She's currently between assignments so she's available, but I think it would be best to let her be unless we really need her power.

"Thaala strikes me as more of a strategist than a strike team member, and her weapon fits. She controls water currents are a large scale, making waterspouts, waves, and whirlpools. She can suck water from the air to use, but it's much quicker if she has actual water to work with. While she's gathering her strength she can make much weaker air currents as well, but the way she mentioned that I believe it's more of an aside than a useful technique. Her control itself is actually rather fine, she can very precisely determine exactly where and how she wants to make her currents, but there is one major issue: No matter what she's doing, her weapon is always operating at maximum capacity. In other words, she has no control over the scale of her abilities. This makes it very easy for her to catch her allies as well. She doesn't actually cause many injuries, to friend or foe, but sweeping her allies off their feet and funneling them into a pile of enemies is generally not productive. I think her abilities would be very useful, especially in conjunction with your own, Major. However, if we decide to recruit a stronger frontline and do not plan to rely on your ability as we usually end up doing, then I suggest passing her by.

"As for Emmery..." Cay hesitated. She knew that what she was about to say would go over poorly both with her team and with Emmery herself, but she had to try. "I would strongly recommend we take her. According to recent medical files and her own words, she is lucid more often than not now. Her power would be immensely useful as a defensive tool. You remember the girl that ran really fast that we had trouble with during our first assignment together? Emmery can easily deal with powers like that. With her ability she can instantly analyze any threat within 4 meters and just as quickly dispose of them. The biggest issue is that during the few times when she's not lucid, she's more than dead weight. If we do bring her, then I believe we should ensure we have some way to protect her during her downtime. She also has excellent potential for stealth operations, perhaps even more than she would have on an open battlefield. I believe between her and Silvia we might well be unstoppable during infiltration missions. She's a bit higher maintenance, but I believe her immense strength is more than worth it."

Cay made sure to omit that Emmery had asked to stay locked up. She knew that what she was doing was wrong, and she didn't expect to be thanked, but she wouldn't, couldn't, let Emmery rot in a padded cell for the rest of her life.

Kirari

"She'd want to know you're okay." Verna said, trotting over to Doc, "So good news first." She poked Doc in the face a few times, eventually prompting the tired woman to open her eyes for an annoyed glare.

Doc looked like she was going to say something, probably a bit of cutting sarcasm, but she stopped when she saw Kirari. Unexpectedly, she started crying. "Thank Katrina." she said, "I was so sure I'd killed someone again." Although Kirari had gotten used to Doc's unusual emotional range, this was still new. For the first time in what Kirari was sure was months, Doc looked genuinely relieved. Telling her the truth was going to be that much harder now.

Yava

sorry but your princess has a fucking chainsaw theme

Nyna took the initiative and charged Solamon. She didn't try to attack, just ran full bore in an attempt to close the distance. Thanks to her power enhancing her legs, she was shockingly fast. But Solamon was faster. She swung the chainsaw in an upwards arc, spraying silver in a line straight towards Nyna the instant the frigid sadistic started her sprint. Mere moments later, Solamon was behind Nyna. It was a blink and you miss it sort of maneuver, Yava couldn't even be sure she'd seen it at all. Solamon had turned into electricity and dashed forwards along the silver trail, reappearing on the other side. Nyna seemed to have anticipated this, and was already whirling to block the attack. She didn't attempt to parry the chainsaw, the weapon was far heavier and more powerful than her narrow foil. Instead, she stabbed the ground, transmuting a chunk into ice and using her control over it to rip it free and create a frozen wall. Solamon's chainsaw cut through it like butter, but it bought Nyna time to set up for her counterattack. She dashed to the side and jabbed at Solamon's shoulder with her weapon. Dodging was out of the question for Sola after committing to such a heavy attack. Or at least it should have been. Solamon turned to electricity once more, jumping into the silver that had sprayed out as she attacked the barrier while Nyna's attack struck thin air. Solamon reappeared behind Nyna again, but this time Nyna wasn't prepared. Solamon pressed her chainsaw to Nyna's back, but didn't activate it.

"I know this is a predicament from which you can easily flee." Solamon said, "But rather than drag this out indefinitely and allow the criminal to escape, I would kindly request that you yield."

Nyna growled, but lowered her weapon. "I thought you weren't holding back."

"I'm not, don't think I've forgotten our last draw." Solamon rapidly dropped the chainsaw down and cut Nyna's legs from beneath her while she had her guard down.

Nyna yelped in surprised and dropped to the ground in a sprawl.

"Don't dawdle, you're no healer. Once they revert you'll lose them for good." Solamon said coldly, turning her back to Nyna.

The princess then walked over to Yava, the chainsaw now held fairly harmlessly at her side. "As for you," she said, "Well, I suppose you can't go anywhere on your own, so you'll just have to come with me for now. Is that alright?"

Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be a thinly veiled threat in the question. Yava didn't really have the option to say no, but it almost felt like Solamon would honor the answer if she did.
