Generally bummed out. I know why, this isn't some vague my-brain-decided-to-be-sad thing so I know it'll resolve itself.

And in a way, after my 5-6 years of depression, it's nice to be able to actually feel sad. Spending a long time with generic apathy's given me a degree of appreciation.

Regardless though, I'm still bummed out.

While I'm upgrading now, I'd accidentally stumbled upon a pretty good Midline frigate setup. Some custom Centurions, a couple of Wayfarers (More because I started with them), a couple of Vigilances, a Brawler and a couple of kites. They wound up being able to punch up very effectively, a good chunk of which was that they had some EMP ability without compromising overall firepower which made enemy frigates and destroyers immobile. The Vigilances could then, once the target's shield was high, spam the hell out of some Gorgons with surprisingly devastating results. The sheer number they can spew out when their fast missile rack ability is full is really good for tearing ships up.

Now, however, I need to keep pushing up the ranks. The Hegemony is at war with all the factions bar the Luddic Church and *winning*. I need to turn this around singlehandedly.

Is High Femme like a high elf? Extremely snooty around other non high-fems, but somehow never overtaking them?

Went bouldering for the first time in about two years today, met people from the university's climbing club. Had a good time in all (Even if I've got some King Charles level sausage fingers now. They always get like this post-exercise)

Also I bought some Squaky Bean "beef" strips. I intended to use them in something, never did, decided to give one a try. They're fucking lovely, even if they're dry. They'll work nicely for beef stroganoff if I ever get some more.

Stress and anxiety again.

I'm thinking I might have mild GAD. It keeps coming and going every few months, although at this time of year the miserable weather and dark won't be helping.

Every time I was engaging the enemy, the AI assumed I could handle it. Every fucking time my fleet would abandon me.

Champion cruiser, wrecked by a destroyer, three frigates and a cruiser because I started to engage and every other ship in my fleet left me alone to chase off a frigate on the other side of the map. Transferred to a Hammerhead, engaged the enemy it was with, exact same thing. I had to start issuing commands to actually stay with me to get them to do so.

Exhaustion, stress, anxiety, a boring subject and a boring lecturer.

It's a nice combo. I've skipped a lecture because I was so zoned out it actually took half an hour to zone back in properly, and that lecture, while a different subject, had the same lecturer. She's in love with tables and graphs, I swear.

At least my other two subjects are interesting.

I was burning at 20. Somehow a pirate fleet caught up, despite not being within the slightest vicinity of the nearest warpstorm. Nor were there hyperspace tunnels, since I was in the core world.

There were four or five other pirate fleets within range.

So yeah, that was a hard quit since I was on ironman mode. I'll take the L if I fuck up, I won't take the L if AI fleets *somehow* burn over the maximum limit for apparently no reason other than screwing with me.

*The Swamp: Run as fast as your computer can render or Die Hard

The load times have dropped a lot since my new GPU, but I still dare not enter the swamp. Something about the vegetation or fog or something made it load every 5 meters and spend ages doing so.

Wait until you see Maratus volans.

Honestly I don't get the massive ick factor with insects. Except craneflies, something about those proportions slam my panic button. I had a practical where we got to handle stick insects and I was the only one in the group willing to. Kind of pathetic for a group of zoologists-to-be.

Hmm, you know I've been seeing some Fun Stuff in the Persean-Orion abyss from other people. I've not got there myself yet, I started a game without the boost from the Galatian Academy stipend so I'm a bit strapped for resources right now, but still looking forward to seeing what horrors lurk there.

EDIT: Yep. Can confirm. Abyssal hyperspace is freaky.

I swear the Christmas holidays has done something to the people in my halls and removed any sense of empathy.

At first I thought it was just one of the girls in my hall. She's hardly been the best at caring for shared spaces anyways (Leaving hair all over the showers, leaving cutlery and crockery out, clogging the sink with sink soup and leaving everyone else to clean it up) but it's gotten worse and the other night she was singing until 2am.

But last night some fuck had set an alarm to go off every hour from 3am, then spent 15 minutes talking at the top of his voice. How heavily I sleep varies, and last night I was sleeping really lightly, so he woke me up. I didn't get to sleep properly until 8 in the fucking morning because of that cunt. Don't know who it is either, but I'm sticking a sticky note on the front door politely telling people to shut the fuck up at night because some of us actually like sleeping.

EDIT: And after they fixed the hot water yesterday, it's gone out again. Great.

So today:

Slept till 4pm since I'd got very little sleep until 8am, missed Jitsu and daylight in general, I'm tired, anxious, and I've had to have a cold shower. Also someone went and left their trousers in the bathroom, so I yeeted that into the corridor. At this point I just don't give a fuck.

They are harmful to humans in the sense that they still sting sometimes.

The tarantula hawk's a parasitoid wasp after all.

And scriver, hope you don't know about horsehair worms. They're like parasitoid wasps with the squick factor kicked up a notch.
