BTW, @The_RyujinLP (and someone on page 1 or so) is correct that this was originally a leftist meme, specifically, a fascist one. Fascist in it's real meaning, not the silly caricature people have of fascists. With the exception of the pot legalization group, the original memes had no problems with authoritarianism, at least when the boot was applied to the right. I have not seen any recent use of it in any fascist context, left or ersatz right.

What is the real meaning of fascists that puts them to the left?

DF Suggestions / Re: Monotheism vs polytheism

My point is that the transition between Polytheism to Monotheism is not harmonious and evolutionary, it a pretty disruptive and violent thing.  At a certain point people have to actively reject the old gods, they do not gradually fade away peacefully.

But that's not how missionaries work. No sane or sucessful missionary would try to convince people that worshiping their god is part with murder, stealing and adultery. Except they can do so by raw force. They gradually cooperate the new believe system into the existing one, and try to show the new god as more powerful than the old forces that work against humans, as can be seen in Fairy tales that use Christian symbolic against forces that antagonize humans. There may be a demonization of certain forces that used to be good, but I've never read of a demonization of old gods.
Also old religions tend to sneak into new ones.

And the Christianization of Europe took Centuries, with some people arguing it still hasn't really happened.

This of course is focused on Europe, and colonized countries with an enormous power imbalance got not so lucky.

Correct me if I'm wrong as Bible study is hardly my field...but to my knowledge, while it doesn't paint them in a particularly positive light, the Bible (the Old Testament, at least) also doesn't outright preclude the existence of beings that would be called gods by a polytheistic culture. It's just that they're all subservient to the one true God and not worthy of worship in their own right (hence Monotheism).

There's Mary and the Saints that are worship in their own right, have their own side altars, pilgrimage site,
and sites / objects / professions that are dedicated to them (e.g. St. Florian and firefighters)
In a polytheistic religion they would be called minor gods.

Different religions influence each other all the time, e. g. Artemis/Frau Holle/ Mary and I'm quite sure we'll find a lot of polytheism and animism in Christianity.

So without getting to know what is a God, what is religion, how does it change when gods are really visible in everyday life (although there are irl religions that have those too) , I think superimposeing a Mono- / Polytheistic structure on procedural generated religions might be more restrictive than it needs to be.

It's not even about the genes of your own species. Even another species dying out may cause your extinction. I think a lot of religion developed out of creating stories that prevent overhunting and unnecessary environmental destruction.

Culture is not a human only thing. It just seems to be a faster path than just biological evolution that many species use.

We should be contributing member of society, not contributing member of human society only.

Why not directly jump to a  procedural calender to fit the amount of celestial object generated in the future? I think with the map rewrite and the Myth&Magic Update a single moon per world may not be the default.

A law system would be huge, not only how offences are handled, but also what counts as offence.
Dwarves may petition for certain laws. The mountain home may try to force you to adopt some new cruel laws they introduced. Scholars /Books on Ethics and laws may have a huge impact on the fort and daily life. Agents from other civs, religious cults, all trying influence it.

Being able to hide UI Elements like the map or the top bar with the Happiness Indicator.

Tabs in Advanced Worldgen would be nice, at least to seperate all the Biome Variables from the rest.

It sounds great, but I don't think that it would fit in the 1400 Timeline cut-off.

For the Information thing, that could be done by the Mayor - Dwarves go venting there now anyways.
Free days and Holidays could be petitioned by guilds when the Fortress got big enough.

For everything else there is Gutter cruor ;)

Getting beaten with a hammer sounds like a harsh punishment. Maybe it should only be applied in cases of expected death sentence - how about adding whiping or some form of ducking of backers (which seems quite fitting for not meeting production goals) as punishment. Medieval times were quite ingenious when it comes to punishment.

Edit: I think public shaming was also quite often used. Could have a nice impact on social dynamics in the fort. And punishment might also become an event that other dwarves want to watch.

The cat and Spiders in my home. The ants that come visiting when it's warm. The gnats that dance under the living room lamp during summer afternoons.

And all the bees, hornets and flies that I can play tag with.

It's quite busy here.
