DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Population grows too quickly?

I have experienced something similar. I think this is a good thing and a bad thing, at the same time. It makes me more willing to start over a fortress, but makes the game harder in a frustrating way. Of course, no matter which way you look at it, this does produce more Fun.

I feel honored to have been such a large part of this incredible necro. Thank you, everyone who made this possible.

Awesome!

It's a little on the 'disjointed' side and I'm not always sure who your pronouns refer to but the story is good.  Also, I'm pretty sure my character is supposed to be 'Mad Mardigan' and not 'Lyrax'.

Yeah, Jervous.  Don't worry.  I'm riiiight behind ya.  And I'm the greatest swordsman in the world.

I find it works really well if you allow them to planted in summer and in autumn.  They'll be red all of autumn, but that's just when you harvest.  You plant in the summer.

Alternatively, if you prefer them to be harvested in the summer, enable spring.

I love this story.

I make blood crystal all the dang time.  Of course, I have a noble who LOOOVES the stuff.

I make a fair amount of Void crystal in my fort, too, because it's pretty nifty stuff.  The crystals are not as labor-intensive as steel, and require far less fuel, so I like them.

For a very, very, very long time (up until the 19th - early 20th century) the word 'robe' meant 'clothes' and 'to clothe' and only very recently has the word lost those meanings.

On the other hand, I don't think the clothes of goblins should be very valuable to dwarves without reprocessing.  And much of their clothing ought to be pretty worthless after the goblins are done with it.  But some of it has to be worth saving.

Dwarf clothing should probably be buried with the dwarves.  After all, these are our people.

He's talking about market saturation.  If these traders just bought three bins with stone crafts, and you offer them more stone crafts... realistically they should not be very enthusiastic.  How many stone crafts do they need anyways?

Right.  Market saturation plays no part in the 'value' of things, just their 'price' within the fortress.  Perhaps if the actual value of things were determined in the same way as price...?

Looting corpses, historically, was a fine way of obtaining arms and armor.

The clothes of the dead were generally worthless/unsanitary/unclean/untouchable and therefore were left on their former owners.  If goblins came into battle stark naked (except for armor) I wouldn't mind.

It's probably something like a granite quern.  With granite designs.  Menacing with spikes of granite.

I would like a swordsdwarf.  Call him 'Mad Mardigan,' and note he wants to be the greatest swordsdwarf in the world.

I end up forbidding most/all of the gobbo clothes because there's just too many of them, and they mess up my game.  The 'auto-forbid' option works wonders here, though.
