... "The Inconvenient Furnaces"...
You absolutely have to nickname someone "Al Gore" and throw them into that volcano.
As I recall, no matter the artifact made, doesn't the mood increase your highest trade skill (which seems to include mining and engraving)?
of course after a few hundred years of child stealing i doubt there would be a single pureblooded goblin being born, the only purebloods would be the first few generations who managed to survive
Wait....If elves don't cut down trees, how do they get wooden equipment?
I want to know what races seige, ambush, pilage and rape..
Does toady have any plans on making invaders do more viscous stuff to the defenders? I like the elves devouring things. Maybe the humans could raep, and the dwarves could use the bones of there enemies to make crafts. (Which they trade to the the enemy civ after the war) Kobolds could, i dunno, dig a cave in the enemy town or something.
How did I know a Soviet Russia joke was right around the corner?
I can imagine malware that disguises itself as one of your most often used or most recently-used executable. That executable would probably be something that goes online, and so you'd just click "allow" without thinking about it.
You know, how most computers will have at least an online game or a chat program, and chances are those are the ones that stay on the most.
I agree with Dwarfu... It'd be nice to see a separation... In real life, we don't usually give graves to unknown tamed animals. I suppose it happens occasionally, but usually no-one cares.
I'd bury any tamed animal.
Sure, you might, but what about the billions of other people? :/
Aw, I hate it when a dragon gets killed by a guy with no name.
I had a thousands year old wyrm who was killed by a schmuck who got eaten by an alligator next mission.

I'd like to generated a world with a war against someone BESIDES Goblins after I embark, but for about six worlds in a row now, it seems that's all I can get.
Is there a particular range of years that are good for embarking during a war with Elves or Humans?
Or am I just horribly unlucky to have the same boring outcomes time after time?
Edit: Also, I'm assuming the red wavy lines next to the species in the Embark screen mean "At war with" - and it's always the green-skins. ><
Make sure that the dwarves are set to use their crossbows in their preferences screen. I've had Marksdwarves and Hunters inexplicably start off set to fight unarmed instead of with crossbows, even though they had crossbows and bolts in their inventory.
The hunter in my desert fort got the nickname "Camel Clutch" because he would wrestle the camels and ignore the perfectly good copper crossbow he was equipped with.
