I'm pretty sure they are, what I'd LOVE to get is a fell or Macabre mood, whichever it's called. Chop 'em up! MWHUAHAHHA!

It'd be awesome to get a series of Fell Moods and have a full set of Dwarf Leather with Dwarf Bone sword and shield.

I recently embarked on a magma map, having prepared 2 proficent marksdwarf with copper crossbow and plenty of steel bolts. 

So, with him set to patrol the magma, I get my miner started on tunneling down the thin line between warm stone and damp stone so I can get below the aquifier and suck out the sweet sweet ores.

I look back and find that one of my marksmen is dead, three of the imps are dead, and none of the steel bolts were ever used. my dwarfs apparently decided that they didn't want to fight with bolts.

What causes this? I've seen it before, but usually they eventually see their mistake.

I am still using 38c and I just got a notice from my firewall saying dwarfort.exe was trying to broadcast to 224.0.0.1(which is the network equivalent of yelling "EVERYONE LISTEN TO ME").

I was not aware that DF had ANY network component and I can't think of a legit reason for it to try to contact everything on my network(EDIT: Maybe bug/error reporting?).

Anyone know anything about this(I might be missing something really simple)?

Holy shit! This is it guys! DF is finally becoming sentient!

Actually that takes a while... Only the Breast of the Platemail can be done in day

For a human. Humans, however, are proven sissies. For one thing, only fully adult humans drink achohol; children drink crap like water and milk. For another thing, they forge with HAMMERS and TONGS and other useless crap. You can't craft properly unless you can stick your hands into the metal!

Other than the economy (which is currently flawed) I can't imagine WHY you wouldn't want high levels of quality.

I love the idea of a gigantic, room-sized cistern of every alcoholic drink available, with a couple taps in the dining room dispensing drunkeness.

I like the dining room being knee deep in booze at all times.

    Or you could, you know, have multiple sources of local food.  I'm guessing that this will affect fortresses that have nothing but plump helmet, but if you slaughter livestock, catch fish and grow a couple of edible crops there is probably nothing to worry about.  (Though hopefully they will vary their diet by choice, and not get upset because they always take food from the nearest barrel and it happens to contain donkey biscuits.)

    So, what counts as variety? How many kinds do they need? Will they take Plump Helmet Biscuits, Wine Biscuits, Wine Roasts, and Plump Helmet roasts as being 4 kinds of food, or 2 kinds of food? Is 2 enough? Is 4 enough? Also, it is nice for finally being rewarded for  doing crop rotation and making everything.

    Not liking the job cancellation part, and it'd be harder to make clothes, also there is a fat tag in the raws. I believes dwarves are 3. That said, I'm against this because it'd over complicate things.

    I just want to point out the irony of anyone saying a single attribute absolutely anything at all could "overly complicate" Dwarf Fortress ;)

    Dwarf Fortress IS overly complicated. That is why we love it. Its the D&D of computer games; full of rules lawyering and weird effects caused by oversights in the RAW.
