You can still cook with it. Its just, well...

Whatever you do, don't add fire. Instead of melting it sort of... ummm.. explodes.

DEAR GOD. I am using that seed. So many of those maps are epic. I might not get the old map, but I will certainly be getting a lot of very high quality regular ones. Thanks you man. Thanks you.

I already tried that. I did manage to find one with a regular river, volcano, adamantine, and chasm, but they're all spread out.

Its just not the same, and that took an hour.

I was hoping one of this forum's apparent millions of geniuses had already had the same thought and whipped up the code.

DF General Discussion / The old map

As nice as the current randomly generated Z-axis capable maps are, I have to wonder what it would be like to play on the OLD map with the NEW system. You know, the one with the bare cliffside that stretches for miles in one direction, the river outside, the cave river inside, the magma just past the chasm... all of that with a Z axis, with the seven segment water, with goblin sieges and giant Zombie eagles...

Anyone know how this could be done? Anyone else at least think this would be cool?

I was browsing the forums for the half-life 2 mod "Zombie Master" (a fun little RTS) there was a dwarf fortress topic. Gradually it grew on me,

When act as if fire doesn't exist and simply go to bed if you catch fire.
When, to help cope with the recent death of your wife, you buy an expensive table and are thus content.
When you build a flood trap and lure hippies into it.
When you cover your yard in cage traps for the extra food income.
When you try to farm in your basement.
When you appraise things by calculating base worth times material and quality modifiers.
When, as a defense against muggers, you carry some water, confident you can pierce his eye with it if need be.
When you assume that, once angered, every policemen in the country will hunt you to the death.

Thats precisely the problem I got after I tried DLing companion 8. I downloaded it, pasted it into EVERY SINGLE FOLDER THAT MIGHT POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED, and then it just told me a different one was missing.

Siigh... doesn't work for me. Window just instantly vanishes. Tried running it from the command window, that vanishes too.
