Sorry, no update tonight. Forgot about it then ran out of time.

Autumn 23

13th of Limestone:
Six bismuth bronze plate armor sets have been made. Our champs are nearly fully equipped.

15th of Limestone:
Today was hectic, A dwarven caravan arrived and was instantly set upon by goblin ambushers. I have ordered the champions out to defend Spearwonders.

16th of Limestone:
The Goblins were killed but not before they could scare away the caravan. Also a peasent was possessed by the demons again today.

24th of Limestone:
The possessed peasant created a horse bone buckler called 'Columnlures the Father of Wasps'... Can't say that I approve, but at least it's something, I hope it doesn't do what it's name says.

25th of limestone:
More goblins arrived. The champs who, quite luckily, I had told to guard the front gates made quick work of the foe.

10th of Sandstone:
Everything is going smoothly, production of the entrance aquarium is underway.

7th of Timber:
The guard is now being trained in hammers before learning the use of a crossbow. This will hopefully help the guard if they ever have to fight in close combat with their crossbows.

25th of Timber:
Nothing much is happening around here. Ordered miners to dig a few exploratory shafts, and told then to dig me a nicer room.

26th of Timber:
I installed some nice cinnabar cabinets and coffers in my room. It's looking much better already.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... dyin' times here!

We actually have something kind of similar at our school except the teachers don't know about it (but I'm, not supposed to talk about it *wink wink*).

God dammit, your not gonna derail my thread into as discussion of Necrons.
What I meant is not: "I don't know what a Necron Lord is" I can easily just Google it.
I meant: "How am I going to animafyze it?"

=Combat=
Simo shoots at Ace twice: 1st rolls 1d4 to hit->1, Hit. 1d2 to damage->1 No damage. 2nd rolls 1d4 to hit-> 3, miss.
Simo loads two bolts into his double barreled shotbow. He fires in the direction of Ace from the hip. One bolt misses Ace completely while the second glances of his armor.
(Total chance of killing 1/2, I guess Ace is having a massive streak of luck.)

Ace attacks the immobilized Harold with his whip. Rolls 1d8->3, +2-> Total=5
Harold the warrior defends with Axe: Rolls 1d7-> 7, penalty of -3 (-3 for facing, -1 for immobilized, +1 for warrior)-> Total=4.
5>4
Ace finds his back up whip and enters the fight between himself and Harold with renewed vigor. He flicks his new whip at the back of the immobilized Axe warrior. Harold turns and trys slashes to cut at the whip but instead fails to the ground. He is unable to support himself with the damaged knee. The whip cuts through Harolds back as he lays face down in the bloody mud. Realizing that suicide is going to be quicker and relatively painless then the whipping coming, Harold uses his last ounce of strength to pull up his axe and chop of his own head.

Harold is reset at the red base with one less life.

Phish stabs Ninja in the back with dagger, rolls1d4->2 +2 bonus (dagger back stab bonus)-> Total=4
Ninja defends with dagger, rolls 1d4->1 -4 penalty (facing, immobilized)-> Total=-2
4>-2
Phish runs at defenseless Ninja. He stabs in one swift motion, quickly and efficiently disposing of the invader.

Ninja is reset back at the blue base with one less life.

Zako attempts to stun Fishhook, Roll 1d1 to hit->1 Hit. 1d2 to damage->1. No damage.
Zako draws energy from his surroundings to send a stunning bolt at Fishhook. The bolt knocks Fishhook off his feat and on to the ground but Fishhook quickly gets up from his feet, uninjured from the attack.

Frelock swaps his dagger for a whip.

Summer 23

9th of Hematite:
Humans have arrived on the far corner of our territory. I have ordered Deathy to get ready at the depot and for the other dwarves to haul some of our more valuable junk to be sold.

10th of Hematite:
It seems the only dwarves in this fortress with nothing to do are the miners. I'll sort that out.

11th of Hematite:
I have designated a large area on level -20 to be dug out for the catacombs. This will hopefully keep the miners busy.

12th of Hematite:
The miners today struck cassiterite, this is great news as now our forges will be able to work the large deposits of copper around here to a more durable and powerful bronze.

20th of Hematite:
Deathy seems busy with other things and hasn't yet dealt with the traders. I'll have to go tell him to hurry up before the Humans leave.

23rd of Hematite:
The magma has reached a level of 3/7ths full. Soon I will be able to start production on glass blocks and bronze armor.

24th of Hematite:
The champion wrestlers were sent out to kill the damn monkeys out there that seem to insist on stealing our stuff.

28th of Hematite:
Wow, the miners down in the catacombs are finding all sorts of wonderful minerals. Today they found some bismusthinite, which can be alloyed to the bronze to increase the efficiency of the process.

2th of Malachite:
For goodness sake, where the hell is Deathy. He hasn't shown up at the depot, even though I told him to a month ago. This has gone too far. I am going to have to do something about these dwarves not doing any work.

3th of Malachite:
I have figured it out. I will assign a captain of the guard and a group of guards to enforce the rules around here. They will also double as a fall back defensive force should our champions fail. I will also order the miners to dig out a jail to house any criinals who think they are above the law.

9th of Malachite:
Deathy finally got round to trading with the humans. We bought a whole lot of wood and food but couldn't buy an anvil as there were none. On that note, the magma is 4/7th's full now. I have told the furnace operators to start smelting down the bismusthinite into bismuth. Once they are done with that we can get started on the bronze.

11th of Malachite:
Wow, that was close, the traders left today.

21st of Malachite:
Everything is going as planned. I have ordered a sand collection room to be dug out and more cloth bags to be made. Hopefully we will have glass production up and running soon.

1st of Galena:
Sand collection has begun, soon glass making will be going at full speed. The dumping of stone into magma is however holding a lot of things up, luckily there isn't much stone left.

9th of Galena:
Here was I worrying about anvils from traders when there is one just down the hallway installed in a charcoal power forge. I have told the armorer to reinstall the anvil in a magma forge.

20th of Galena:
Bismuth bronze suits of armor are now in production. Hopefully we will have the military armored before autumn and the coming goblin ambushes.

General Discussion / Re: There are far too many Penguin avatars.
« on: March 21, 2009, 02:23:53 am »
I love my avatar just the way it is...(O.K. it would be better if it weren't distorted) No penguins are needed for me.
Now that Karlito changed his avatar, I'm actually thinking of changing it to this gentlemanly Stumpy-wumple:

Also, the VN game is getting old for me as well. Strife: There are about four or five people here with sig pictures, you just need to turn them on in the forum viewing settings. I made mine with DFpaint...

640
Why does it mark Karlito as "stunned" in the update? I'm pretty sure nobody stunned him.

Oops, Accident.

641
=Combat=
Simo shoots a iron bolt at Ace, rolls 1d5-> 5. Shot misses.
Simo fires a single bolt at Ace. It flies through the air going no where near the target.

Ace shoots a stunning bolt at Harold, rolls 1d2-> 2. Shot hits. Roll 1d2 to damage->1. No stun.
Ace summons the power with in him to stun Harold. Harold takes the energy like a raging bull, absorbing it and turning it into anger.

Zako shoots a stunning bolt at Ace, rolls 1d5->2. Shot hits. Roll 1d2 to damage->1. No stun.
Zako works his hands in a specific pattern, however at the last moment his concentration slips. A bolt of energy flies though the air slowly, it hits Ace but has very little power and does nothing.

Harold the warrior attacks ace with his Axe, rolls 1d7-> 5 + bonus of 2 (warrior + axe bonus). Total= 7.
Ace defends with Whip, rolls 1d8-> 8 + bonus of 1 (whip bonus - facing penalty). Total= 9.
7<9
Harold runs at Ace, axe held high.  Ace is however ready and whips his opponent before he can manage to bring the axe down. The whip licks Harold's axe hand, drawing blood. Harold drops the axe in pain and shock. Ace whips at Harold again, this time aiming to immobilize the warrior. The whip wraps around Harold's left knee. He is tripped up and falls to the ground. On the ground Harold finds his axe, he grabs it with his left hand, then cuts the whip connecting him to Ace in half. Ace backs off, knowing his advantage is lost.

Harold is immobilized due to his knee injury and can only defend.

Phish shoots a stunning bolt at Ninja, rolls  1d2-> 2. Shot hits. Roll 1d2 to damage-> 2. Stun
Phish reaches into the dark depths of his heart and conjures a bolt of energy. He directs the energy at Ninja and unleashes it. Ninja is hit by a powerful blast immobilizing him for the rest of this turn and the next.

Ninja trys to move and attack Phish, but finds he can't.

Org shoots the wall precisely at the point where Ninja would have been had he stabbed Karlito.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Remember, players can walk through the square of a stunned enemy. Sorry for the long update gap. Got a lot of things to juggle and not a lot of time to do it (ie succession game and animafizing).

Well a lot of these are either going to be very difficult for me to do or for me to interpret. I mean Necron lord, come on...
Hawkfrost: What exactly do you want your avatar doing, all I have managed so far is have it's arms move around.

Any way I did this one:

It would go well the lines of (from Toady One's game): You are holding Sir Harold [Use any name], married. He was smoking a pipe [use any doing thing] right before he was rounded up at your command.

If anyone else wants an animated Stumpy-Wumple, just tell me what type of Wumple and if you want any specific text.

643
It's fine, although to be honest, I can't see many people playing a mechanized version of it. Sure you could give better combat system and life system but most of what makes this game good is that people can play it across different timezones. Also combat description won't be the same.

Anyway, go ahead with it. You never know it may turn out great, especially if used by players on IRC.

644
Get back here Strife, Karlito's going to spawn, so he doesn't need your help!

If Siquo fails, which he will, then Harold' turn:

WSSS face south ATTACK THAT FILTHY BLUE!
Are you saying that Harold attacks Ace? Because you aren't really in position to do that.

I believe he could attack me, after my move.

Whoops, Ha I run the game and I even forget how it works sometimes. Anyway no update tonight. Tomorrow instead.

645
Anyway I have the Spring update, more will come soon.

Spring 23
1st of Granite
A_Fey_Dwarf, Mason, glass maker and animal trainer signing up for duty. I have been tasked the duty of looking after Spearwonders for a year while the leaders have a rest. I hope the power doesn't go to my simple peasant head.

2nd of Granite
Today I just carried out hauling rocks like everyone else. It's all anybody ever seems to do round here, I woulda thought my new found power would mean something. No more hauling? A day off? Breakfast in bed? Nope nothing.

3rd of Granite:
As first order of business, I ordered Terra and the other miners to stop hauling stuff around and get to work mining out a magma shaft for much needed workshops.

4th of Granite:
Aaaand... No one listens to me. Terra has gone of to sleep on me and the other miners are no where to be found. Perhaps I should give this place some stricter rules. Teach the Dwarves here to respect their leader.

5th of Granite:
Ah Ha. I found the problem with everyone moving rocks around. For some strange reason, the previous adviser decided that all rocks be moved outside. I didn't even realize this was the case. I was just moving rocks because all the cool dwarves were. I have removed the stone designation, hopefully that will speed the dwarves up with other things.

6th of Granite:
I checked the food stores today, it appears we have a tonne of various food items but are running low on drink.

I will tell our brewers to brew some more of that sweat dwarven nectar that everyone loves.

7th of Granite:
The miners have finally started working on the magma shaft and furnace rooms.

9th of Granite:
Elves have arrived. I wonder what they have to offer... I will only trade if they bring an exotic animal. Also I wish someone would tell me what these levers by the front bridges do.

15th of Granite:
The Elves brought loads of wood, one of the first times I have ever seen a useful Elven caravan. I decided to hold back my hate towards their species and trade. Hopefully next year they will bring back more wood, or even a rare animal.

27th of Granite:
Nothing much has happened. I have ordered a garbage dump to be dug over the 'soon to be filled with magma' shaft. Hopefully that can sort out our stone problems.

3rd of Slate:
I have told the farmers to stop farming one of the plots. We are currently getting too many plump helmets for our barrels to hold. If we continue farming at this rate, we will run out of empty barrels, then we will get a problem with brewing drinks.

14th of Slate:
The mining of the shaft is still progressing. The defensive masonry work outside is done. Now I have to think of what to do with all of these idle dwarves.

16th of Slate:
We have struck Cinnabar, There are rumors among philosophers that this stone contains a magical liquid metal. For now it is just a pretty red stone, I reckon it will make good mugs.

20th of Slate:
A fishery worker went crazy today. He ran around babbling about needing to create an artifact for the spirits that reside on our dig site. He claimed a craftdwarves workshop and collected some stuff to build his artifact out of.

28th of Slate:
The possessed fisher finished his work today. It turned out to be a turtle shell chain. How that works, don't ask me...

9th of Felsite:
The dungeon master arrived at Spearwonders today. He arrived at the perfect time seeing as our forges are almost ready.

15th of Felsite:
The magma has filled 1/7 of the way up.

22nd of Felsite:
I have told the miners to dig some shortcuts between areas as currently everyone is taking the long way around, I have also ordered the idlers to start dumping any stone that is in the way down the rubbish chute.
