Few can survive the mighty miser-hog!

>>Miser: Someone who counts their money constantly.  (Not *quite* literal definition, see www.dictionary.com  for that)

All you gotta do for the dragon cave is mod whatever race this adventurer is to be [FLIER]
Then you can press the up/down Z level buttons at will and get up to where the cave entrance is.

Wrestling clothes doesn't sound too hard...  I mean, it's cloth, not a dragon!

Dwarves can stand much lower temperatures then humans.
However, it should give like 10-20 turns warning like "The temperature is dropping."

Suggestion: High ambusher skill, sneak up to them and stab them in the head with a sword.  Throwing swords or pretty much anything while sneaking is pretty effective too.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Chuck Norris drunk?
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:12:00 am »
So, I was playing around with the Martial mod, recruited a drunk and went into a giant's lair...  I got ambushed by a star sapphire golem, and was stunned.  I figured I was doomed, but then this:
code:
The Drunk reverse roundhouse kicks The Star sapphire golem in the right arm with his left foot!
The right arm flies off in an arc!
You are no longer stunned.

It almost wants me to change his profession name from Drunk to Walker, Texas Ranger...

No, I threw the arrow at this goblin guard, it got lodged in him, so I went over and wanted to pull it out so he'd bleed.  Hmm, I said "the target" and "their wounds" which should have made it pretty clear this had nothing to do with myself...

Ah, so that means I can't be holding my weapons at the same time.  That explains it.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Lodged in Wound
« on: March 19, 2008, 08:09:00 pm »
So, I got this arrow lodged in a wound.
I understand that by grabbing it by wrestling, I can pull it out and cause the target to bleed out?
Only problem is, I grab it, and then as I understand, it should be in the Shift-I menu.  But it's not.  Anybody know what I have to do?
Edit: I'm running 38c, and this is not mutual to stuff I have lodged in their wounds.  Nothing I grab, not even their spear, appears in my Shift-I menu.

if you dismantle all your traps except pressure plates, then you can turn them on and it should be OK.</STRONG>

Or leave a one-tile hole in them and don't use ANY cage traps...  Then just go through that hole to get in, and just Travel out unless there's enemies, in which case just go back out the same way you went in.

Artifact mechanism in bridge is a requirement for flinging now, AFAIK.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: rock sand farm
« on: May 13, 2008, 04:03:00 pm »
Dwarfs who walk through any kind of sand will get it on their feet (if you've ever been walking in sand you know how this thing goes!) and it will come off on your floor.  Get enough Dwarfs doing this and you'll soon have your entire floor covered in sand!
Now, my question is: if you have a masterful engraving on your entry floor, and Dwarfs track sand onto it, does it count as defacement?

IIRC for towercaps to grow it has to be muddy ROUGH stone.
Course I might be wrong.

It looks as if the wagon's hanging off the edge of the cliff, too.

It's gotta be the 164 Dwarfs, of which 50 are children, 50-60 PETS (not just animals, pets) and then the Elven caravan coming at EXACTLY the same moment as a goblin siege AND my entire fort was out in the fields collecting narrow crap from the LAST siege I had...
164 Dwarfs + 20-odd Elves + some 200 goblins = Massive slaughter for both units AND FPS.
I swear it was at 1 FPS for 2 hours until things finally started moving again.
When it was all over..  My 50 children were all alive and well in my meeting area, and ONE marksdwarf who happened to be up in my fortified tower at the time and just picked off the goblins afterwards.
There's nothing like seeing 350 bodies and the armor/weapons/clothing for all of them in a 10x10 area.  Remember all the pets?  They followed their owners into battle.  Guess what happened.  Go on, guess.
Final Count:
1 Dwarf
0 Elves
0 Goblins
1 Cat, owner being the surviving marksdwarf.  Bet you weren't expecting that!
50 Dwarf Children/Babies

And with the lack of anybody to keep food supplies up, everybody starved and Glacierlashed was no more.

I'll admit, losing was fun.
