« on: April 12, 2014, 02:46:57 pm »The only anime I know of that's actually themed around mahjong is Akagi. And Ten, but I think that's only a manga. But they're less about the game and more about psychology. And lots of cheating.It's not gambling unless you cheat.
I haven't had the time to read The Legend of Koizumi but I certainly should, maybe this year.

They scanlate almost all of the Fukumoto stuff (except Zero and Kurosawa because Hox got them first) and they're pretty great in general.That's amazing! I can't wait to continue watching Akagi. You know.. We should make a Mahjong game, with the ability to cheat and whatnot. Or the dice game from Kaiji Part 2.Has anyone watched Kaiji? I just finished season 2 and I'm addicted. Moved on to Akagi and Ten is next on the list. There's actually a LOT of anime with gambling as the premise. Love it.I've read every Fukumoto series in english, including those.
Kaiji is great. It's my favorite gambling series yet. It will take forever before part 5 is scanlated.

The room is refreshed. Two "objects" can clearly be seen lying on the ground.
One is of Notquitethere, his brain brutally damaged beyond repair. Insects gather around his corpse.
The other is Shakerag, his body clearly worn and shaken. A bruise can be see around their neck. The back of their shirt has a piece of paper taped to them, reading "Kick me!".
The five (or six?) remaining entities in the room stare quietly, coldly.
The visor man whispers. "The death has begun. Can you find the King Mafia before they kill the lot of you? Kukuku..."
Notquitethere was a Jedi (town).
Shakerag was a Nonvoter One-Shot 0% Role Cop Depressed Mafioso Lovestruck Sleeper Unlynchable (town).
There is no deadchat because dead players may rejoin the queue as soon as they die.
Day 2 has begun! Day will last approximately 48-50 hours, not including weekends. Because of this, Day 2 will end Tuesday April 15th around 9PM EST.

Eight players, eight games, each player is a mod of a game and player in the rest. If a player dies in one game, the game they're modding is lost. All games happen simultaneously. Bring-Your-Own-Mod ends when one of its games ends in a win for one team. Everything happens in the same thread.
