Sure, I've got sympathy for Sakura of course, obviously, because she's lived her whole life without living.  She had fun with her sister Tohsaka probably for the first five years of her life, but then she was taken in by the Matou family for the next eleven years.  Undoubtedly, those eleven years were hell besides the last four years when she finally saw something worth living for, Shirou.  During those eleven years it probably consisted of Zouken fucking around with her (literally), magic crest stuff, and Shinji's abuse and eventual 'raping' pretty much.

Zouken is just an asshat.  He's a 500 year old penis worm douche bag who has created the most dysfunctional family I have ever seen.  He's a sick man who just wants to live.  I can't say I have any sympathy for him because he looks almost 100% completely irredeemable.  Although his kakaka laugh is pretty good, not the best though.

Now Shinji.  Shinji is the most ridiculous character I have ever seen, and that's saying something.  I have absolutely no idea what Type-Moon was playing here but they weren't writing Shinji as an unsympathetic character, just a raging douche bag, jerk, coward, weakling, wimpy, arrogant, self-loathing, and completely tragic character.  This dude is broken.  However, there are three qualities that makes Shinji much better than Zouken.

• His hair, it's amazing.
• His voice, it's wonderful.
• And most importantly, his inability to do anything.
  

It's hard to hate somebody when every plan or scheme they come up with fails horribly.  Shinji Matou is no magus, he really really really wants to be a magus but he can never be a magus in his life, ever.  This completely kills Shinji on the inside and he hates himself with a self-loathing passion.  Now, if Shinji was a big bad magus who could shoot lightning out of his ass I would hate him for just being an ordinary douche bag, however Mr. Matou has nothing.  He sexually attacks his own sister because that's the only girl he can get.  He is completely pathetic.  He's envious of Sakura because she's a powerful magus and he's nothing.

Maybe I like woobies too much but Sakura and Shinji both get my sympathy.  Zouken however I hate.  He's an old penis worm who has fucked up his own family just to be "immortal" and he's got crazy stupid powers up his ass too!

...Shinji rapes his sister Sakura!?  I know they're not related by blood and that Sakura has been violated for at least eleven years because of Zouken but Shinji has been raping Sakura for probably the last three years?!
