Personally I don't like finding NPR at 80% of habitable planets, most specifically the first one I find. :/
But I've never progressed very far into the game so far. :P

What is a reasonble number of systems for the galaxy? (gameplay-wise, not realistically)

n.b. I'd like to RP being inside a big nebula and this comes down to generating alot of systems as nebulae beforehand (without mod-powers).
Having the default 1000 systems makes it quite a chore to generate a significant number of them.

Maybe it was already answered, but is spilled blood a hint in determining murders?
I understand the corpse can be hidden, if there were no witnesses?
Will other un-discovered items be invisible to Armok (me) in time? such as stuff in caves.

(removed a developing derail)
Really? Sorry at any rate. I felt like editing the post, but replies were so fast..
The fan fiction is still relevant though. :) (although also still pretty dated)

Dwarves starve to death all the time, why would vampires without food not waste away
until they prove undeath is only a temporary state?

does missile agility have no impact on its evasiveness vs AMM and CIWS?

Is there a way to add scientists?
(I lost my 30% 20 labs scientist in a pre NT game after she finished the research and am left with 3 10% <10 lab noobs.)
The Add button in SM-ed officers tab, is greyed out for all besides naval officers . . .
(Or a way to edit existing crew besides their superficials?)
(edit, with SM, I'm not going to edit the file)

Cool.
Have you ever had that you had to manually type in names for recruits?
I guess one of the officer name 'flavours' I selected is not working.

One way to get more speed into your hammer is spinning, as they do at the olympic hammer throw and what warhammer(r) Goblin fanatics do. :)
Problem with that technique becomes accuracy... certainly after more than half a minute.

Mendoza
You'll have to be 35 times faster to get the same impact from an Ada hammer(0.23) as from a steel (7.8 ) one. That would be the equivalent of a projectile, I guess. :/
Also, with such low densities/speeds, air friction will also become a major factor.

Just for completeness: What is the ingame density of adamantinum?
(n.b. Iron, copper, zinc, nickel  = about 8-9, lead, silver = about 11, gold, platinum = about 20, aluminum, magnesium, bone = about 2-3, diamond = 3.5, polystyrene = 1)
edit: wiki: ada ~200
alu: 2700 etc
the onlky thing I can find less dense would be balsawood (150). :p

The type of attack is important as well,
slicing, cutting -sharpness (hardness/area), speed
piercing : idem dito, only angle of attack is different (same as a slap vs a poke)
hacking : sharpness, impetus
bashing : impetus, speed+weight /impact area

Honestly I would like someone expert in the laws of physics to determine how effective it would be to hit someone with a pole like object that has almost no mass but with near supernaturally strong durability and hardness (with absolutely NO flexibility).
It would be in practice probably a little more than directly punching him.
Probably a little less because of the extremely low inertia of the rod.
...like hitting someone with a long paper tube, filled with foam for 'sturdity'.

One thing: I would suggest that you recommend staying on the System View screen, as that allows you to monitor ship activity, access every window via the top bar, and view events as they occur. The events in particular are important, as they will alert you to everything from research projects completing to ground combat results to new thermal contacts being registered to new leaders being recruited, allowing the player to easily manage every aspect of the empire each turn. A typical turn for me will consist of me running a five day tick, reading the events log (which needs to be switched on from the Display tab on the bottom left), and addressing each point as necessary, opening the proper windows, doing what I need to do, and closing them. The issue with staying on the economics window for most of the time is that you won't notice things happening until you happen to go to a relevant tab or window and realize that something is different, which can radically reduce both your efficiency and your response time to threats.
Me too. :)
Personally I monitor the game with the systemview in window-mode, set to cycleturn and moved to the right so that the 30-day button has still a bit showing.
At the same time the event log window is shoved to the left so that the column with event information is still visible with the systemview on top.
Most events will halt the auto-turn sequence.

Or go my route and ignore missiles entirely, focusing all efforts on building flying balls of armor with heavy shields and a large number of PD lasers/sandpaper application devices.
Yo Prador! :D
