i don't know but for me it is just too hard to see what happens with only caracters everywhere, but hey i was never played with games with only ascii interface becouse i am too young for it, and on the ather hand some symbols on the text aren't a problem, i mean i can guess and anyway in a fantasy world even a bizar character can be one ...

In fact sometimes they even did. But not allways. Never figured out what made the difference. Might have something to do with the economy running or not running yet.

Overall i prefer running cloth-free forts now, to avoid having to clen up the old garbage. Does not seem to cause any trouble and is a lot less hassle.
i think the cabinet holds some quantity so when it is full no new will be recolted,
the other thing is that the dwarf wich owns the cloth must bring it to his room, but happylie it is low priority so wont be done if the dwarf is too occupied.

for destroying cloads the solution could be also to assign a room with many cabinets to the dwarfs, and when cabinets are full deconstruct them,so cloths will be all around, then crush them with a bridge/ let them fall in lave with a draw bridge

but be warned also that, bins and barrels are forniture too, so if you ask for decorating furniture with diamond you migth want to assure that it wont be on a tower cap barrel (but it is optionelle i like the idee of drinking from decorated barels :D)
the only way to be sure is to make same micro management and a closeable room with jeweller, crafter workshop a zone where you will dump the item to decorate and stockpile of decorating materiells, (and food drink bed table for closing in the decorater)

i would add just two things for the quide Magua have wroten:
  • forges don't need to be on lower levels (but in this case you must fill their source with magma, then close a floodgate wich separate them from magma in bauxite of course, with bauxite mechanics)
  • if you put between your magma chanaling pipes (twe 2 wide coridors)  floors (on the wall) or constructed wals indeed then you can mass designate channeling it is really handy)

I play with your set Mayday, and some other graphics for more creatures, the only thing i regret is that  there isn't a 15x15 version (in this case i could have a full view for my screen for nano fortresses)
but i don't always wait until you redo it for newer versions (mostly works too if i just copy it, and some raws in the directory)
Once more thanks for it ;) it is really nice

No, these ants clearly don't dig through platinum floors, that's just absurd. They're obviously digging through the very fabric of reality, which would explain the levitating anthills. Ant colonies may span the entire cosmos for all we know.
Oh yeah, I've seen those in Amsterdam!

Nah, wait, those were grasshoppers...

many things have been seen in Amsterdam ... it is quite normal ...

Well i made it so Goblins have 10 to 25 babies and they grow up in 1 year. Im going to wait 1 year and see if there are more gobbos.
invaiders don't breed on your map, ... sorry :( (or at least if that haven't been changed)

Don't worry about voting now because you just started, I set up the vote so you can change your's so that you don't have to come up with an absolute average of every fortress you have done.

Most people seem to hover around 30-20 FPS but I wanted to make sure that this isn't volunteer bias.
i dont see how you change it (and i will need to, becouse 150 in my nano fortress in the begining is just too naiv that it will stay ...)

i think you should try to trade in more wawes, don't make just one action of trade (hitting [t] and changing things) but more smaller so they develop their skill better ...

for the wildlife i suggest you make a world with big regions (if you lower the region number i think it will work) so you get bigger regions -> more wildlife in each, and then make fortress in the border of two regions for have even better effect.
for the bose i think spartans never drinked mashrume based alcohol so you will need some above ground farm (preferable outside an above ground city with walls)
