Bori takes mask from Mister Ticking Noise if possible, though what good it'll do at this stage Bori doesn't know or care to know.

"Funny machine thing, have you ever read Dickens. He say something about best of times and worst of times. Maybe this is worst of times, so let's make tomorrow the best of times."

Bori pries the pod off 82-B, then pushes it eastward along with others.

Yessir-- Both counts.  Nothin'd please me mor' an settin them woods aright, I keen assure ya o' dat. Whate'rs causin all that out there is gonna get more an' it bargained fer, ifn I gets muh hands on it.

Jack made a wrinkled up, and clearly deeply aggrieved face, then sucked in a deep breath, and put the cheery salesman smile back on.

How much did ya want? he asked, setting the basket down, then opening the lid on one side to start extracting contents.  If this ain't enough, I still gots more at home.

"I'll take the lot, seems a fair trade to me."

The halfling transfers the mushrooms to a platter, then hands the eggs and flour to Jack.

"Barnaby Wainstobber muh name. If ya ever need anything or find anything particular out inna woods ya want to trade away, ya welcome to c'mere. Preferably durin' business hours. Better retreat inside fa'now, best not be outdoors too long these days I tell ya."

Jack put on his "Cheery salesman" smile.

Good evn'in, muh good sir-- Muh apologies as ta th' hour, I'da come sooner, but then I'da run outta daylight workin'.  I'm needin' about a dozen eggs, an' a pound a flaar.  Sadly th' librarian done fleeced muh pockets, but I think I can makes it worth yer while--  Been right busy, and managed to score the moth'r load on some fine mushrooms-- Gots way more an' I needs, an' I was won'rin ifn' ye'd be willin' ta come ta a trade.

Jack pulls the very heavily overstuffed picnic basket into view, exposing the very large sections of fine edible mushrooms protruding prominently out from under the hinged lids at either side of the basket.

Whaddya say?

"Smushrooms huh?"

The halfling looks uncertain, his eyes darting between Jack and the basket rapidly.

"Alright, wait here a sec."

The halfling disappears inside, then comes out with the requested goods.

"You one'a them adventurers huh? Hope ya get ridda them animal nuisances goin' bonkers and all, sits not good for business I tell ya. Anyway thissis all?"

The halfling looks at the basket expectantly.

Bori can only think of one drastic way to get the royalty out of danger. Maybe plan crazy enough to work.

"Bori have plan."

Bori takes out special blank ammo, which fires a projectile but doesn't explode on contact. He places the mortar close to the pod.

"If pod no go forward, maybe Bori make it go forward."

Bori aim the mortar at the rear of the pod and drops the ammo in.

"So I could summon an army of weasels and become the weasel master or something, that sounds awesome can I take that book as well?"
Take the summoning book as well if allowed.

"Sure, in fact let me take out an edition that might suit your purposes better."

Flo hunts for another book, then hands it over to Burt.

Burt gains Summoner's Sanctum - Volume 0.

He hoped the store was still open, given the late hour of the day, as Jack rapped on the door to the general goods store. He would probably have had better luck with this early in the morning, rather than late at night, but this was how things were.

((One Eye'd Jack rolls 11/20, +1 for LCK, final result 12/20))

There is initially no response to Jack's knocking. After a few moments a thunderous stomping of boots is heard as someone makes their way to the door.

"Who is it, this sisn't no time to be bothering decent folks, store's closed pal-"

The door opens abruptly, revealing a very irate halfling glaring at Jack.

"Yessir, something must've been grating at ya badly for ya to come knocking at this hour, can I help ya some?"

Dularach would come out of his burrow after eating through his supply of food he had gathered and wonder around the village looking to see if he can help anyone

It's close to sundown and most residents have retreated to their dwellings. Dularach proceeds to the tavern, where Laemmle and Dixie are discussing the whereabouts and fate of the missing Oltwell progeny.

"Fire behind us will stop enemy coming from rear direction. Bori feel ill, maybe we shouldn't fight these?"

Bori consults teammates (this isn't my action for the turn so no GM action required yet) on how to best progress next. The creatures don't seem to post a threat to any of us except the princess, if we can get her out of there we can avoid fighting the remaining plague walkers.

Bori tried to clear his alcohol-riddled mind, which was easier than usual since the davochka at the Inn insisted on only providing alcohol-less alcohol in her establishment. Bori took note of the tall grass everywhere, and realized this would be the perfect moment to try out the latest improvement on his mortar. But he couldn't just set fire to things nilly-willy, at least not without removing Faberge-egg-princess from barbequeing range first.

"Mister Ticking Noise, Bori has plan. Bori see you have shovel, maybe take mine too, here."

Bori tosses his shovel at Mister Ticking Noise.

"If possible, try dig trench around unhatched royalty. Bori set fire to retreat path and leave advance path clear. Maybe this get rid of enemies behind us."

Bori fires an incendiary round towards (consult the compass, should be the left side where the party came from) the left side, hopefully setting fire to all enemies behind them.

Keep a revolver handy for the monster that's really close to Bori, but don't fire unless the creature attacks first.

Move to Still Alive Inn and order goulash, just like babushka used to make back home.

Laemmle memorized the features of the missing child and began drawing. After some time, it have a neat result.

She then roam to town and ask the townfolks with the drawing.

The town drunk squints at Laemmle's drawing.

"Tha's 'im 'right, owes me a drink. No wai' now."

He squints again.

"Issa laddy wen' missin', I dunnae 'bout him. Gimme a woom munn to pur leaker in mouth, not a boy..."

The drunk starts snoring.

Laemmle borrow a piece of paper and a writing/lining instrument. She asks again the quest giver for the child's appearance.

Torren Oltwell is determined to be a boy in his middle-teens with a lanky appearance, ginger hair and thin build. He last spotted wearing a white-shirt, tanned trousers and a bright orange kerchief.

"I know how guns work I could use that book to become a GUN WIZARD, I need that book so I can learn how to gun wizard."
He then takes the book and stands there for a minute looking at it, before looking back at the other book he'd asked about.
"To bad I suck a building things because I'd take the mech one to if I could make stuff."

As he goes back to looking at the pile he sees the summoning book and he thinks of something.
"Is there a limit to what you can summon with that summoning magic stuff, or can you summon whatever you want like dragons, strippers, and I don't know a box of rocks or something?"

"Summoning strong creatures simply depends on your magic pool, the larger your reserves the stronger the creature you can summon. However, the real issue is controlling the creature you've summoned. Conjuring a dragon won't do you any good if it's just going to kill you and everything around you. Most summoners start small, with wisps or imps, and work their way up to, uh, strippers..."

Flo's voice trails off, her eyes vacantly staring off into the space. She returns to normal after a minute.

"The strongest summoners focus solely on improving their summoning skills, being able to summon and control multiple mighty beasts and creatures of legend. But it's one of the most common secondary spells picked up by mages. Even having a sprite for healing, or a spirit condor to scout an area provides a ton of utility. There's a ton of things you could do with a few basic lessons of summoning. The kind of creatures you want to summon should depend on what you want to accomplish. If you're interested in picking up summoning as a secondary spell, you can ask me for help. Same if you need assistance with gunmagic."

Burt gains Secrets of the Norosan - Lock, Stock & Crystal Barrel.

"Maybe not Bori day for literature. Bori visit other places, maybe."

Bori saunters over to Tuhan's cathedral.

"Magnificent cathedral, remind Bori of Bori homeland. Where is priest, Bori inquire of your ways."

"Thanks comrade, I will be see you later."

Bori makes his way to the Hall of Literature hoping to find any of his favourite childhood classics, like Huntman x Huntman, or Star Battles: The Return of the Samurai, or How to Conquer Loaf.

"Hm... The compass don't actually tell you directions... like normal compass would if that makes any sense? The other items? they are: "
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

"Bori intrigued, Bori would like to take compass, see what compass do."

Acquire compass.

• Heavy Armor : protect you from piercing damage
 • Fur Armor : protect you from bludgeoning damage
 • Silver Gauntlet : your fist hurts more
 • Rope Armor : a fetish suit?
 • Spiked Shield : damages melee attacker passively
 • Rudinal Shield : reflect projectile attacks

"Hm, Bori don't think these help Bori shoot gun much. Bori instead make humble request of making another upgrade for gun. Something make big ogon if you get what Bori mean."

Upgrade mortar shells to set fire to the area it lands, maybe allowing Bori to load and fire incendiary ammo instead of standard explosive shells on command.

Ah see-  said Jack, accepting the note.
So's Ah should bring Mama 'ere?

"Yup yup, we can get started as soon as she's here."

He looked over the note more closely, seemingly fine until his eyebrow suddenly raised.
Ya mean ta' tell me, Ya'll can get Mama ta walk on two feet, wear clothes, an' have finger's an' thumbs?  he asked incredulously.
'At aughta be a laugh!

"Ah umm...  it's not that she grows thumbs, i-i-it's more uh, think of it as ghostly projection from her paws, which can then grip man-made items as naturally as... but if you intended her to wear a dress instead that could work too..."

Flo's voice trails off, the apparent joke going over her head.

Anyhoo... Uh.. I'll run 'is past Mama-- See what SHE wanna do.  Ina meantime...

Jack looks over the books the librarian had arrayed on the desk for the deer headed man, when the book on druidic magic caught his eye.
Ah was'a gonna ask 'bout any books on t'e local wil'life-- see ifn' ere's anythang here as I donts know about a'ready-- but 'at 'dere looks int'restin'. Might' be entertainin'! So many folks' got such peculiar notions 'bout how critters thinks an' feels. Ascribe all sortsa mumbo-jumbo to em. Really, alls ya gots ta do is ask em. Ashame it's so hard ta do, took me years ta learn how. Ah think I'll borrow one a dese-- An ifn'ya still gots somethin less... Magical.. on the local critters, ayd like a looksie.

"Of course, feel free to take the book. You can ask me for help if any of the contents are unclear."

One Eye'd Jack gains Druidic Magic: A Journey into the Highlands.

"We do have several bestiaries here, which can give you details of creatures in general, but they're not specific to this region I'm afraid. These parts are as uncharted as they come, none too safe for exploration and this was before the animal attacks started. But this does remind me..."

Flo clambers over several shelves, going out of sight into the upper reaches of the library, returning after several minutes, lowering herself with silken ropes and carrying a large tome with her.

"We've had this rather curious... book you could say, for ages. What it does is display information for a creature, after you've spotted it. You need the book on your person for this to work of course. Normally the pages are blank, but you can bring up pages for creatures both seen and previously unseen for the holder... sometimes. I have been unable to determine the exact mechanism of how this works. It might be a repository of knowledge inserted when the book was made, but it's entries are supposedly in the many thousands so I find that unlikely. It does use some form of analysis magic, to determine which creature is in vicinity and pulling up the entry for it. It's similar to my own magic, but several leagues higher than my own capability I'm afraid, I haven't had much luck in decoding it."

"Mr Jack, can I make a request of you? Instead of having something like this gather dust here, you could try taking it with you and figuring out how it works. I'm not much inclined to wilderness, I think it might work more convincingly for you than it did for me. Oh, and one last note for if you do take it. Any page the book flips to on encountering a creature, it will always contain details on the left page, and a blank right page. However, you can fill the gaps on the right page, any observations you make on the creature will linger on that page. So it's not just a book, it collects information too like a journal too. I've been able to reveal very few pages within like I've said before, maybe you can find a way to unlock its mysteries."

Flo looks at Jack with an expression which is equal parts pleading and inquisitive.
