DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

There's this one dwarf who has made 4 statues so far (one of which being the result of a possession) of this one necromancer experiment called Nekol being killed, no clue why. It's even overflowed into another dwarf making a statue of the same event. I don't really know who this guy is or why he's so notable for getting killed once, maybe he's some kinda Dwarf Jesus, I guess I'll find out when FUN hits and I check out the legends.

Also I've been trying the new beta, and it's going great! Native Linux is amazing and runs so much better, but it does crash when I try to open the announcements log and I also don't have access to DFHack, but oh well I'm still happy.

Or endless statues of dwarves founding your fortress and maybe some statues of their gods.

Yeah that's what it usually is for me, if the events are from the region's history then I suppose that would make sense, I never really thought about how the dwarves chose the random instances they make into statues.

I still find it weird that they have holidays for almost every damn thing now days.
Probably always had a heap of holidays, they were just super niche and nobody heard about them without the internet

In what I'm sure is a complete coincidence entirely unrelated to the recent Unity pricing policy changes, Humble Bundle has just now released an "Everything you need or want to know about using Godot" bundle :P

I still need to try out Godot, I never used very many game engines but always thought Godot was the most interesting (primarily because of its Rust support I'll admit). Any good tutorials?

Those are dwarves that had failed strange moods in worldgen/npc forts. They'll wander the wilds until they die if old age. Because thirst/hunger isn't checked except for player fort pops or adventurers...

This would be cool to see in fort mode too, your dwarves simply running away after failing the mood.

A lot of small dwarf details like this are missing in Steam, like the one that I really miss where you could look at relations and select their deities, then from there read a description of the god, it'd be helpful because I'd have a description of the god I could use for inspiration when making temples.

Just lost a dwarf get stricken with a melancholy about 10 seconds before we breached the caverns to get the silk they needed for a strange mood. Kinda mad about how close the timing was, but oh well. RIP, she will make a fine first entry in my newly built pyramid tomb.

Heya, I built a limestone block pyramid without any idea of what to actually put in it, any cool ideas? So far I've been suggested a tomb filled with treasure, some kinda battle arena, and a temple (also filled with treasure), but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas out there :)

You might be able to get something similar with bridges? Or maybe cause a cave-in just under the floor when they reach the other side, but I'm not really sure how you could do that  :-\

Well my problem was solved through Putnam's suggestion of manually setting the render mode to 2D or whatever it was in the init.txt but I'll have a look at that too

Just in general the latest version has some jank with modifying graphics I've found, like if you change the colors.txt it can give every bit of text a solid black background rather than keeping transparency
