Excellent, TCM. Looking forward to it.

Pokemonrocks, about your character bio. The camp he went to, let's assume that's boy scouts of america, yeah, so some wilderness survival skills and suchlike. The globetrotting unspecified philanthropist angle needs a little work - let's say he worked through the Red Cross foundation in Sudan. This will mean your character has some practical experience (though the majority of what a teen would do there is grunt work) and we'll say he learned to speak Arabic while he was there too.

Yes, this is so. Six more players can join, though I'm starting it off once we're at four.

So yeah. Game's inspired a bit by X-com and discussions with my little sister, so you know who to blame when the pink crustaceans show up. There will be pictures and stuff, cos' I will draw them and put em' up for you to see. They'll be mediocre. Don't actually worry about the phone number or email address on the form.

The date is 2024 (Remember this when you fill out your application, seriously, it's relevant.)

Over the course of the ten years it has become clear that what was once nonsense is now fact. Psychic abilities, manifesting only in children, are now fact. The cause is uncertain. Telepathy, telekinesis, a strange sort of machine-empathy called technopathy, and pyro-and-cryo-kineses, the rapid heating or cooling of objects or, worse, people. The response was varied, but universally not positive. The ones lucky enough to be born in more forward-thinking societies were simply put on lists, tattooed and not allowed in certain restaurants or to work at certain jobs. Others were not so fortunate.

And then the Crustaceans landed in Indonesia, bringing gas and fire and spitting plumes of corrosive acid. When the mothership appeared in the night sky it induced mass panic. A hasty U.N. meeting later and the nuclear strikes were authorized.

The mothership shot every one down with high precision point-defence lasers. A co-ordinated attack from every major nuclear power was slapped aside like a mosquito. The massive, organic ship rebuffed every sort of scan or weapon aimed at it. Information of the crustaceans is somewhat limited, but by all accounts they appear to be intelligent, intent on conquest, and totally hostile. The United States made an effort to make telepathic contact. In a concrete lined bunker they set the most powerful telepath in a sensory deprivation chamber and had her reach out to the mothership. There was some success - the crustaceans responded. They used a lot of unpleasant terms. Phrases like "Defilers" and "Parasites" were bandied about, and some rather creative insults about the purity of the telepath's parent. All this information was relayed to a dismayed staff before the girl in question keeled over bleeding from the ears. The intentions of the crustaceans have been made clear. Their landing zone has been totally purged of all human life. The crustaceans want nothing less than the genocide of the entire human species.

Now, the U.N. has formed a new organization. A task force dedicated to fighting the alien invaders off with the use of psychic powers. This initiative will receive funding from a number of U.N. members, and will build a secret underground bunker in the far north of Russia - Where the crustaceans will not go. This initiative is the PALADIN program.

Psychic Alliance Locked Against Deadly Invading Nemesis.

But before we begin defending the earth, let's hear a little bit more about you, our plucky new teenage applicant.

So I was reading the character sheets...Alisha is the son of a miner, but is also a woman. This could be a problem.

Another vote for Sheb's plan here.

It hasn't been indicated that anything is in the syringe. I think before we do anything hasty(my plan included), we should check if anything's inside of it first.

Also, hurrah. I can finally access the site again.

Yeah, I was unable to get in for two days :/

The current agenda is
get a mana potion somehow and destroy tree I believe.

Wrong thread.

The hell are you talking about? Makes sense to me.

Loved the narration. Just generally loved this LP. Disappointed that you flee to Argentina so readily.

Perhaps I will find this game in a bargain bin somewheres...And nobly lead the troops on to the Russian Front?

Y'know, we have never really been on a fancy space ship before. We have not had a meaningful conversation with anyone who wasn't a menial laborer or a solider of some kind, ain't eaten no fancy cakes. Let's mingle. We'll hit up the chapel, obviously, and observe our rituals...but after that why don't we honestly just relax a little and talk to all these fascinating strangers? You know what's cool? Women. I think we probably like women and would like to see more of them. And techpriests, but in a different way. Obviously we've got a little bit of interest in machines, right?

There's just so much to do!

NOTE: Normans were not rebels but former French vassals who took Saxon England and kept Normandy for themselves. They then came back and try to take France for themselves.

Just saying because from your writing it didn't seem like you knew.

Er. To explain this, there is no way to setup custom battles vs. rebels, so I basically pretended it was a bunch of rebels funded by the English instead of the English themselves. Also, update's coming.

This is just a preview of what battles will be like. I like my paragraphs unbroken, but if it helps I'll make sure the images are placed in the right place rather than clumped up together for story comprehension purposes.

1080, in an alternate universe.

Milord, as ordered I rallied the militia to round up the rebels and put them to the sword.
A host of one-hundred fifty serf with trident, and a host of one-hundred twenty peasant with bow were arranged upon the field, in addition my men with volgier including myself numbering sixty and one were also there.

When we were finally assembled we saw banners in the distance, coming over a crest in the land.

The rebel party moved on our position and it became evident that they were holding English banners. They wore fine leather and moved with organized purpose and so I am led to think that they were trained by Englishmen. Of politics I am ignorant, lord, but I think the incident that follows may be of some significance. It became evident that they intended to join in battle. Therefore I formed a line of peasantry in front of the archers to protect them, ordered the archers to stand ground and open fire as soon as the enemy was in range with fire arrows.

The volley flew true and we scored fine casualties. Men screamed in agony and flapped like struck pheasants, flaming like torches, before they dropped to the ground, yet morale did not falter and they set upon the line with a charge, closing the distance in the time it took to loose another volley.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The line held and combat was joined, whilst the archers fired overhead. A great deal of the rebels held back, hesitant, allowing us further time to fire into the ranks. After they sustained casualties they, too, charged into the line. At this, my men began to waver, and the left flank collapsed as the peasants ran like women. Peasantmen engaged the archers, and the archers drew daggers and held, while the other body of archers continued to fire.
I spotted, overviewing the battle, a man in plate-mail giving orders and holding back, and so I ordered the unengaged archers to fire upon him. Then, sensing that unless I made my presence felt my men would break, I waded through the archer group and into the melee.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

From here, my recollection is hazy, but I recall gutting a few of the dogs before they retreated. Then they charged back into my men. Then they retreated again. I remember the commander of the enemy charged in, screaming something unintelligible (presumably in the English language, which I do not speak, write, or understand) shortly before I smashed his gorget into his windpipe. Then the remaining rebels fled into the hills. We have not seen or heard of them for three days now. We are still accounting for casualties.
I await your orders.
