Er.

I one-shot electric eels with ma bow all the time. I've been doing that for ages (Since about level fourteen, which is about when I first met em'.). Try a fire-branded bow for steamy goodness....of course if you don't kill em' in one shot your view is obstructed.

I just ignored the whole lockpick thing and made a comfortable, permanent living on the shore you wash up on. Did you know you can plant red-berries and grapes like you can plant grain? I make my own hooch and bread, supplemented with kiwi meat and fried fish.

Also, the tent is great for travelling in. Whenever you're advancing to another island or whatever else, take a tent on your boat. You can set it up again soon as you hit the shore.

Also is anyone else irritated by how the rain goes right through your roof?

Well, I got the serpent rune. Time to explore the rest of the lair, and then it's back to the vault. Also hit level 18 while I was in the snake pit. Yay. Got poisoned by Naga mages because I only had poison resistance 1, but meh. I lived. The only real challenge there was god-damned Okinawaru's stone giant buddies.

Wow.

That was seven years ago. Is god dead? That wouldn't be good.

It's not a mountain. These are rocks/reefs and it ended there after a storm: the boat was pierced by a rock after it landed on reefs.

So the storm threw the ship up forty feet onto a perfect point? :P Also, if you're going to the new world on a wooden boat, why is there a modern lighter on shore? [/nitpicks]

Otherwise, it's a lot of fun. I fully approve! :D

The nets near the docks. Some stuff underwater would be neat too, even if it is just pillars and stuff.

Also the boat looks really stupid stuck on that mountain.

Okie-dokey. I'm in front of the snake pit. Time to kick ass and take rune. Any advice before the plunge?

Okay, so I tried out island quest

Volcano village shop is awesome. Maybe they should have more options for trading currency...like 10 worms for 1 shell and vice versa, and also accept gold and iron, perhaps? The only problem is that you can bunk with them and make the whole shelter building thing moot because a water source is right next to a hut. And the abandoned village is even worse for that, with the free fish generators you didn't have to work to build, so you're instantly self-sufficent right when you find it. Oh, and you can walk in the volcano. Something's wrong. I think I saw a GCS in the valley with the sheep. The desert and the artic could use more catci and inukshucks, respectivley.

That is all. Indeed.

Got my first rune, woohoo! The only annoying monster in the swamp was the hydra. I have to switch to bows to hurt the buggers without giving them extra heads. Now, back to the temple, drop off some junk. I hate my old god. He spawns giants onto me. I hope he gets over it soon.

Well holy crap, I dug out Thief 2 with a mind to get those codecs, and the orb of zot and whatever the hell else I needed, and it worked right off the bat.

Heh.

I don't think the replacement keeps stocks at all.
-------------------------------------------
Burninganus the muscular tunnel

The sheriff sat in his office of smooth obsidian, and admired the engravings on the wall as he flipped through the last of the stockpile records. He slowly drew a finger down the list, until it rested on one entry. "Gnomeblight - 2450.50 units, See plant ref. for brewables." Then, he looked up and grinned.

"So, Feb tells me you're looking for a place called Gatesmaw?"
Glacies nodded.
"That's correct, sir. I used to live there before, um, a disagreement, but I wanted to go collect this invention thing."
"Why? What's so important about this invention?"
"Er. It was supposed to make my job easier."
The sheriff stared at him blankly.

"Y'mean, you got shipwrecked, stranded in the raw hills, forced into book-keeping a ton of gabbro for us, and now you want to go to some god-forsaken fortress probably filled with giant cave spiders...to make your job easier?"
"Um.."
"Fine. Okay. Whatever. Feb said you wanted a map, so here you go. Wasn't there something else you wanted before you left?"
"Right. I want a bodyguard. Someone you can spare from duty to protect me while I look for the analytical machine."
"The wha..? Forget it. I have just the dwarf for you."

The sheriff rose and gestured for Glacies to follow him. The walked through the freshly smoothed halls to a grandly engraved barracks, specked with blood and vomit. They edged around two speardwarves and came toan ancient loking dwarf with a peg-leg and an eye-patch, sleeping under a tiny woolen blanket.

"Sarig. Sarig? SARIG! WAKE UP!"

The olddwarf gave a start and reached for a rusty looking copper scimitar by his bed. "Whh? Elf?? Huhn?" He said.

"Sarig, you're going to go with this dwarf to gatesmaw! It's just what you need, Sarig, a nice trip!"

Glacies tried to scuttle sideways out of the room, but was grabbed by his collar and dragged back.

"Up you get, Sarig! You get up now!"

The old dwarf slowly rose to standing position, and gave them a blank, sleepy stare. The sheriff yelled encouraging things at the veteran until he woke up, and then lunchtime rolled around. They all went to Kadol's dining room for lunch.

Glacies said "So, uhm, Sarig, is it?"
Sarig said "Yeah, that's me. Whatcha going to gatesmaw for, yeah?"
Kadol said "Er. Sarig, you're to accompany Mr. Glacies to gatesmaw, to fight the elves."
Quothe Sarig "Elves?! Where!? I'll stick em', I will!" and jumped to his feet, swinging his scimitar wildly and looking about in a paranoid fashion.

Glacies slowly put his hands over his forehead. and groaned quietly.

My favorite was
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
although
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
is also a good one.

Unfortunatly, I can't get Thief to work on my machine. It's the cinematics, somehow, since if I use it in "safe mode" it's just got to mission 1 and skip the cinematics. Yeah. Which sucks. Anyone help me with that?
