DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Marksdwarves not following order
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:12:23 pm »
if they are in one squad they follow their leader. if the leader decides to eat/sleep/drink at the moment of the siege they will follow him instead of defending you.

All melancholy dwarves will DIE.

Fix'd again

(I do realise only 'melancholy dwarves will' is part of the original sentence. But for being right's sake I fix it!)

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Training children for combat
« on: February 27, 2010, 12:58:15 pm »
If you want wrestlers, try throwing the kids into an area where you can drop food in. Also, on the other side of a chamber dump some wild groundhogs or some other suitably weak animal periodically. The children will fight it, gaining wrestling experience. They should be decent by the end of 12 years.

Trying that later today good idea!  I have some injured werewolfs that should work nicely.

And they must eat the raw meat to prove who is the real survivor of them all!

I'm not quite sure what you mean

I'm basing the assumption on the auto-butchering tower seen here.

Might also tamed animals, where the small animals also try to run when they're mature.
