the case is simple, my starting 7 dwarves have been asleep from summer till autumn. is there a known bug with sleeping?

well i tried it now, the cage appeared in the list but he was worth only 10 :(

i sold him for a tower-cap barrel  ;D

hi, i just started a nice small fortress. shortly after the first wave of migrants i started building a military. i have 2 soldiers now, 1 of them is the sherrif. i builded 2 cage traps. but then i got this message: fikod something-complicated, recruit cancels sleep: caged
now he just sits in a cage in the animal stockpile :S

can anyone explain this?

well if you'd build a place with 2 doors, in a bend in the tunnel. and lock the one which lets the magma through, and then when there is an attack lock the other one and open the magma trap door. you will force any invader to take the trap door. 1 drawback, it could be dangerous for your own dwarves. this might  even work :P.

thiis feature should be there too indeed. and i allready make miasma chimneys, just make a long hallway away of ur castle, make it into a refuse pile and dig out the z-levels above it
