Waterfalls. The bigger the better. Currently my record is a 15tile level wide 7z tall waterfall on "small" major river. (note that major rivers can vary from between 15 and 40+ tiles wide depending only on how water has flown into them upstream).

Yeah, i'm really hanging out for a 30 tile wide waterfall.

Too be that atm i can't build a chair over a retractable brigde :( , so i have to wait the noble to step on the right spot.

As far as i'm aware, Floor grates retract instantly. So do this

Basically, you have a long drop with a pedestal located higher up above your temple. when the beast falls, it hits the pedestal and explodes. body parts go flying. any that fly outwards then sink down to below where your temple floor is, but the corpse stays on the pedestal. Its a good colander substitute, but i dunno if its funny.

1x2 rooms can be as good as ever, so long as you provide your dwarves with appropriate art. I can't tell when my dwarves are sleeping, though...

Ah, now, if you all started at once as one big group it would be a lot more fun. things get done faster, you could go off together so you'd be safe but also far enough to find trees etc. that's what we did with infinity, and it worked (well for a few months).

Actually, once the siege is lifted, their only objective is to escape. if you released them outside their walls, they'd leave the map.

Be careful, with your coffins... wood and other materials might float :D

Which would be pretty cool if it actually worked.

Sorry, but no floating (...yet. as with all things)

They do get pushed around, however. The bones that is, due to a bug. Best to say, seal around to the coffin with windows or something.
