Can somebody tell me how reasonably this game performs on older systems? I have a dual core laptop that runs at 2.2 ghz/core with a 1ghz 9800GT graphics card and I'm thinking of putting it on there, but I don't know if it'll just lag so badly that it won't be worth it.
I can't give you a direct answer, but I would suggest downloading the demo and trying it first. I hope it runs for you, this game is incredible.

It'll require a Facebook account to take part.
Any interest I might have had has vanished.

I don't know for sure how many of us are actually active in Summerdale, but it seems like we've had about four sign-ups a day for the past few days (some from Bay 12, others probably just wanting to tag along).

Our immediate strategic situation is a bit grim, I have no idea where our queen went, many of us still do not have an estate (I grumble about that frequently in this thread), we just got massacred in a suicide attack, and I'm almost out of gold. Along with everyone else who hasn't got an estate, which is a pretty big number of people.

There's room for more, though -- the higher-ups just need to sort things out a bit so we can actually get established. There are still regions we control that have no lord, for example. I'm not privy to what the hold up is, or even how that mechanic really works, so I  just sit around and mutter. And hope for the best. (And wonder how I'm going to pay my unit ...)

On that note, if anyone reading this has an estate and is not interested in playing anymore, consider letting someone know.

Just don't join Liberos or their allies, they're mean and nasty  ;)

All I know is that if I don't get some land soon, I'll have to start "taxing" my superiors (everyone) in order to maintain an army at all.

Like a standing mercenary unit. Or just an economic drain, heh.

I really can't wait to have an estate. Replacing my losses nearly broke me, no way I'll be able to pay their wages for more than a few days.

Seems like we have been getting several new nobles in the past couple of days, so competition for land is heating up fast. Hope we don't run out of room, otherwise I'll be bankrupt and homeless in short order ...

You definitely should. It's already very enjoyable.

I started over for this release and I'm already having a blast. It helps that I started with a good ship this time.

I can't read messages suddenly. Shows up empty. Will try with a different browser/clear my cache.

Hmm, just hopped in as "Aldus Thunderwood" and claimed an empty estate in Storms Keep.  Let's see how this goes.  Anybody know Owen Von Neuman?
:-\

Haha, I know the person that the estate was reserved for. ;)
;)

My first battle wasn't exactly a shining beacon of heroic triumph, but I only lost 60% of my men or thereabouts. That's what they get for being outnumbered and outpositioned, the silly louts!

My character came through with only a minor injury.

FAKE EDIT: Nope, different browser made no difference. Still can't read messages. IS MY CHARACTER BLIND OH GOD

REAL EDIT: I can see my messages again after the latest turn. Probably just a glitch.

That archer bug is really irritating. I was surprised it wasn't a priority.

Gaaaaaah, I can't register on Steam. Can someone upload it somewhere please? Since it's technically free, it wouldn't be illegal (unless Steam has policies against that).
I've seen some torrents around for the demo, but I'm not sure how safe/legit they are.

Requiring Steam for the demo seems a little strange to me. I like Steam just fine, but not everyone wants to install it just to play a demo. Maybe they'll add some other options later this weekend.

I'm hoping this plays like a Master of Magic remake, because I'd really love one. MoM is so great. Not real sure about setting it in Ardania, though.

Other Games / Warlock: Master of the Arcane [Paradox]
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:43:48 am »
Posting this now because the demo is available on Steam (link below). The official release date is May 8, 2012. The game is out!

Summary:
From the website: Warlock: Master of the Arcane is a new turned-based strategy game set in the fantastical world of Ardania, popularized in Majesty franchise. Warlock: Master of the Arcane invites players to take on the role of the Great Mage and build a powerful magical empire, giving mightly mages the ability to control armies and wield magic to wage war against another, as they compete with other wizards for the title of Warlock.

Maybe this one will turn out a bit better than Elemental as a Master of Magic successor. I didn't see the demo anywhere but Steam so far.

Edit: Something I immediately do not like is being limited to 3 races. MoM had ... what, 14? Maybe DLC will correct that.

Congrats! Tell us what you think of it once you get some time in the beta, Hugehead!

I'd be rubbish at this, but free is an attractive price. I liked the unit customization in the trailer.

Anyone know how if this is Pay2Win? First glance at the features seem to suggest it is, and a quick check of their forums tells me "yes," but you know how those other forums are.

I'm very interested in this. The 56-player part of it sounds like a lot of fun, thought the gameplay videos I've seen haven't been all that impressive. I'll certainly be trying it out once they let nobodies like me in.

The comp-stomp side made me think of my old days at LANs. We'd play Red Alert, C&C, Total Annihilation ... and since our skill levels were so different, we'd often set up big human vs AI matches so that everyone could have fun. I miss that.
