Apperently the ban has been revoked now: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/11/ea-retracts-game-ban-for-forum-violation/

EA says it was a mistake. I call bullshit.
I've got to hand it to RPS here: their background is plastered with Dragon Age 2 advertisements, but they still, albeit diplomatically, report on things that don't put EA/BioWare in the best of light.

And I'm agreeing on this being bullshit. That moderator basically confirmed that this wasn't an innocent mistake, but was, in fact, written policy.

Too late, EA. You thought you could punish the dissent by silencing the rabble and taking away their game access, but the Internet saw it all and was not pleased.

Still waiting to see what they say about SecuROM.

Just wanted to say thanks to Vactor for offering some insights into a historic moment for Wisconsin (and the U.S.).

So, thanks Vactor. You put in some serious hours there.

It's funny; I can handle hard liquor like a champ but I've never been any good with carbonated stuff, so it took me years to adjust to beer, and it still gives me unwarranted dizziness and hiccups far past its alcohol level.
Exactly the same situation here.

I don't have a problem with (most) soda, so I can drink mixed drinks or straight liquor without a problem, but just about all beers make me feel strange after a single bottle. Belchy and bubbly in the ol' stomach.

I've gotten drunk a few times in my late teens, early 20's while overseas. Never been drunk since. I have a drink once in a long while, though.

EA logo = interest level reduced dramatically.

I'll watch from a safe and disinterested distance to see how the game turns out. It'll have to be incredible in every way to get me to drop money on it, though.

Summary bans on (anyone's) whim and SecuROM, too! Fantastic.

No, I'm not even going to rent this game for my XBawks. Or bother with a torrent. I'll just pretend DA:O has no sequels. Reconsidering Mass Effect 3 now.

Wow. Customer has complaint? Ban customer and prevent him from playing the games he paid for! Brilliant example of sinister corporate overreach.

O_O must download again....
You and I both. Looks like an amazing improvement in planetary textures.

I was really looking forward to this after spending over 100 hours in DA:O. I purposely stayed away from spoilers and trailers so it would be a complete surprise, but before buying it I took a look at some spoiler-free reviews ... and nearly all of them admitted that the story was not very good or focused.

Then I get on the BioWare forums and see the polarized rage exploding everywhere.

DA:O was a successful and good game. It was a nice compromise between the old school and the new. But I think they've created a game that NO ONE likes. Dragon Age fans can't seriously like this, can they?

I am disappoint.

It has some non-standard things that make me a little curious, like ecology modeling and turn-based combat, but I'd have to see a Bay 12 opinion of it first.

And figure out what "free to play" means in this case -- is it free until a certain level, is it pay-to-win, how does the PvP system work (if there is one) and so on.

I'm always on the lookout for entertainment that doesn't cost me money, but I haven't found too many free MMOs that interest me for long.

I just want this to be good. Oblivion was not good in my opinion, though mods made it enjoyable.

I really just want a modern Daggerfall [dreamyface.gif]. But this might be fun, too, especially if there's actual diplomacy and not the typical "do five quests for me and I'll join my hated enemies immediately." Could be (PLEASE be) interesting.

Thank you for all the information. I'll be keeping an eye on this and make sure my MMO-addicted wife takes a look at it. The idea of the Rift attacks seems fun to me, because I really enjoyed the public quests when Warhammer Online launched.

Hope you guys continue to have a good time in Rift!

So, as someone who is very gunshy of MMOs, can you guys tell me if this has the potential to really compete with WoW? This isn't a troll post by the way, I'm just honestly curious. I suspect most of you have played multiple MMOs and are therefore veterans at the genre. My wife is pretty much addicted to WoW, I can't play it for longer than a month without getting sick of it again.

Things I do not like: gear progression is the entire (only) point of WoW. Everyone is a hero. Everyone is "epic." Is this game pretty much the same idea?

I admit to liking the idea of the Rifts, as that sounds really fun, but does it get repetitive? Or are they exciting and interesting enough that they're more fun than typical quests?

Thanks.

Just posting to say that I really liked that trailer. Not sold on the game itself, but that trailer ... man.

Is an isolationist that logs in for a few minutes a day of any use to the alliance? The wiki says alliances like isolationists since they can't be attacked.

No idea if I'll be playing for long, but I'm trying it out for a bit to see if it's interesting.
