As I understand it, Discord's been working at a loss in order to build the userbase to sell off to someone else, per the clamor and crisis when headlines declared Microsoft was considering purchasing them (in reality, they were just one of several companies that expressed interest on the basis that Discord has value, as I recall).
As the suspicion goes, though, if a product is free, you are the product, yes? I wonder if Discord could cut that line from their terms and conditions and then retroactively sell off all the data they've harvested from users.

More on topic, there's a finite amount of community available at any given time and an exodus with Discord may disrupt the gentle coze that B12's been riding for years. Can't stop/won't stop/shouldn't stop the splinters of community that embark on their own, of course.
