DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / JK Rowling-esque dwarf King

Was mucking around in legends and found a dwarf King

Well Queen really.

She was a potash maker, rose to the position of King, and well... wrote a lot:

  • can the dwarf save the world? ,
to the dwarf and the shadows and glory!
    doom is the way
    the tree questioned
    the book: fact or fiction?
    the dwarf and nothing more
    the end: principles and practice

and my favorite:  victory by death.

She wrote a few more.
Her name? Catten Minepaint.
Fittingly, First King and founder of the The Massive Inks.

Just a note here: You could make good rains that only appear in good regions, use a custom materials, lets say: "Tears of Angels" and that has a benefitial syndrome, for example more strenght, or speed for everyone that runs into it. no problem
I would not want to be present at a fort under siege during a rain like there. Your dorfs might get the benefit, but surely the elves would as well.

Haha that would be so fitting. "the blessing of the earth rains down upon the field."

Elves gain tag: made of stone, immortal.

That needs to be there.

Here's what I've tried so far, with a modified necromancer in the arena...

....

I found that IT_REQUIRES:NOT_LIVING was the culprit, and I thought it was a neat way to target all undead, but even after getting the interaction to work and paralysing a mummy, it still jumped away from an attack the very next round.  And I tried adding the cannot undead this time too.

Is it possible to remove the undead tag and just have the creature just collapse, followed by a do not resurrect tag or something being added?

Halp. Currently the worlds being generated are, chaotic evil, with no force of good standing in balance.

Is it possible to create a priest job, which gives dwarves the ability to bless/turn undead/holy nuke the undead?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Zombie survival!
« on: February 16, 2012, 02:14:33 pm »
This version demands the creation of a zombie survival fortress.

The world has ended, the dead walk the cringing plateaus, armies of necromancers and their thralls consume what remains of life. The very planet creates vile rain and malignant clouds of toxicity stain what may have one been sylvan lands.

7 dwarves survive, after escaping the sack of a city, or perhaps as part of a determined move to create a new outpost. Refusing to die, as stubborn as only a dwarf can be.

I've had this happen on a much smaller scale before in older versions, around volcanoes and oceans for some reason, some small chunk will be generated detached and free-floating and collapses upon being observed.

Schrodingers Catastrophe.

OP never posted a screenshot? I thought this was impossible.

I think OP was, erm, how do I put this delicately? I think the the OP may have been unfair to the truth.  :P

Oral histories were quiet prevalent in older cultures - pretty much the only way to transmit knowledge from generation to generation.

Depending on how long re-animation takes, you could quantum dump the corpse pile into a zombie warehouse underground. Siege shows up, throw a few dozen zombies at them, dump all the bodies into pit. Re-animate. Repeat.

And this is why, these forums, are a source of unbelievable fun.

Now that I think about it, why didn't people treat undead like this all the time in movies/fantasy stories.

Why are you atom smashing - you could use drowning chambers and massive amounts of coffins, then you're set.

Btw - cool fort!

screenies?

[random] Rope + Raising undead = thread necro [/random]

Lycantrophy, Berserker strength, Dopplegangers, Immortal Dwarves! Stone form. I don't know what I would teach the First Dwarf.
That said, this makes it almost like civilization, where each starting race has some special knowledge or units (like war elephants, roman legions and so on), and then you see how it all pans out.

Wow, all this makes me just wish it was easier to run the game to its utter limits on a normal pc. :(
