It's what SquirrelWizard said. Items are being snatched out of the kitchen before he can complete the meal.

Just make sure that food/drink is closer to the main mass of dorfs than the kitchen and the brewery.

Could always try an underground road in the soil layer, and a very small road on the surface leading to a ramp down.

I can't recall exactly but I think you need to look for cages, not animals. Then look for your Tower Cap Mule cage instead of just tower cap cage, etc.

Typically I would make a copy of your save directory, then abandon your current fort, then use the reclaim feature to find it. Then restore the save. Just not sure if you can take a 39f save and play it in 39e.

Also, dorfs tend to grab the nearest food or drink, and if you kitchen is in a bad spot they will take it from there. Try putting your kitchen further away from where dorfs congregate, or make sure a food/drink stockpile is closer than the kitchen.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Stone in the way of stockpiles

Personally, I make a one square dump zone in the middle of the room I want to clear, then mark each stone for dumping. With the dump zone in the middle of the area it goes quickly. Once it's complete lay down your stockpile.

If you make most of your stockpile rooms the same size like I do, you can use a program like AutoHotkey to rapidly mark those stones for dumping.
