Other Games / Pokemon Insurgence: High-Quality Fanmade Pokemon game
« on: August 26, 2017, 12:31:51 pm »
Hello and welcome to the world of Pokémon Insurgence.

https://p-insurgence.com/

I am aware some of you have played Pokémon Omicron and Zeta, but what if the same team worked on an even better game? What if that game was better constructed, had less fakemon, and the story wasn't half-troll half-serious? Well that is Pokémon Insurgence.

Features
-All Pokémon from Red and Blue all the way to Black 2 / White 2. Sorry Sun and Moon lovers but the Devs spoke.
-HM Items: Don't want to cart around HM slaves? No more!
-Trade Pokémon can be evolved without trading.
-Delta Pokémon: Their appearance, types, and moves are rearranged making them a familiar yet different beast altogether.
-New Megas
-Don't want Non-official Mega Pokémon OR Deltas?: There is an option for fidelity that will avoid them.
-Online Features: Mystery Gifts, Trading, Wonder trade, Battling, Friend Safari
-Challenge Runs: Nuzlock, Randomized mode, Egg Mode (instead of catching and using pokemon, you replace them with random eggs), and more
-Difficulty Modes: The game is tougher than typical Pokémon games but rest easy there are three difficulty modes: Easy, Normal, and Hard.

Don't care about Spoilers? Here is the Official Wiki
https://wiki.p-insurgence.com/Main_Page

---

Want extra pokemon for your start?

I can obtain any pokemon, MOST with any ability you wish, and trade it to you at level 1 or higher if you so need.

I cannot trade Delta Pokémon yet. I'll edit and post when I can.

Don't feel guilty about asking for your favorites, as great as Pokémon Insurgence is, it can hold off on pokemon far longer than it would have been useful to.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1723653856/re-legend-co-op-monster-raising-rpg/description

Sorry for posting this so late but I tend to think of my tastes as rather esoteric... so you only have 24 hours to decide.

---

Re:Legend is a monster raising focused RPG with features such as farming, fishing, crafting, village building, multiplayer and more on PC!

Washed ashore on Vokka Island without memories, you start a new life and find ways to recover your lost memories. However, you must first learn how to live on the island by cultivating the land, befriending villagers, expanding the village and raising your very own magical creatures known as Magnus.

Venture around the land of Ethia where Vokka island resides to reclaim your memories, but this is no easy task as the world is filled with dangerous Magnus and threatening challenges.

---

Taming and Raising Magnus

Mythical creatures known as Magnus roam the land of Ethia, and every single one of them is tamable. They will aid you in many ways such as during combat, farming, fishing, traveling and more. They will also grow and evolve depending on your care, so each of them has unique evolution conditions. Once the Magnus has grown enough and you have gain their trust, you can mount them and use their abilities at will. These abilities will be helpful in your adventure in many ways so make sure to take good care of them!

---

Multiplayer

You can enjoy the game alone, but why not share the fun with your friends and family? Carry out the activities together and share precious memories!
Gameplay wise, there are plenty of activities that you can experience with your friends. One example would be farming, where you can split the workload between the players and everyone could master a specific part of the job. Different Magnus are better at different jobs, so each of the player can choose a different Magnus suited for different parts of farming. If having Magnus do your chores seems too cruel, you can always do it the traditional way by farming manually. Having friends will speed up the progress significantly.

Most of the features in the game are built around multiplayer so you will able to enjoy your friend's company throughout the game.

We believe that games are meant to be played together so we’re focusing on multiplayer since the early stages. These are just some of the features that have been confirmed and there’s still plenty of room for improvement as we are still experimenting with different ideas. More will be added in the future.

Number of Players: 1 - 4

---

 Life Skills

Practice makes perfect! You gain life skills as you practice them frequently. They level-up passively as you carry out the activities so it is crucial to practice the skill that you want to master as much as you can. Example of life skills: Mining, Fishing, Logging, Cooking, Crafting, Farming, Weaponry and much more!

---

Ok that is enough copy and pasting (there is more on the kickstarter page).

The game has ALL its stretchgoals met.

Life Advice / My left mouse button sometimes right clicks
« on: August 01, 2017, 05:59:56 am »
It is annoying but I cannot seem to find a solution to this... MOST of the advice I can find are for when a mouse permanently switches the buttons.

Edit: I miiiight have fixed it...

Edit edit: Nevermind the problem comes back...

General Discussion / (Poll/Joke) Liberals are Vampires
« on: July 22, 2017, 10:46:55 pm »
Please answer the poll honestly... but no one is policing you.

Now one thing I love as a topic is people taking statistics and morphing them to mean whatever it is they want. When I saw this kind of poll I immediately knew "YES! this is like the king of fake statistics!" (Oddly enough the scientists who used them KNEW this, It was people who used their data who co-opted the results)

let us see what statistical analysis we can make (Ignoring that our poll size is small, the results would be tainted, and this isn't a professionally done... This is just for fun not scientific accuracy)

Honestly I should make this a contest to see who can pull the most extreme results. I just have no prizes to give.

---

NOTE: This poll is VERY much not politically charged exactly. I chose Liberals because in Bay12 they aren't really preyed upon or insulted. So no one here would REALLY be picking on them. This is why I didn't put "Conservatives are Vampires" because while that could be funny, they can feel like the outgroup here which "I" haven't helped.

The reason I even used a political party is because I feel like this kind of statistic typically is used politically.

Other Games / Why did you buy DLC? (Poll)
« on: June 23, 2017, 05:38:44 pm »
I am kind of wondering in this case. Since what a lot of companies do to justify even the worst DLC is that "Well, people bought it, thus they are happy with it!"

Not to mention that the gaming community in BAY12 games is openly hostile towards people who have a "Complete" mentality and consider them insane and crazy (no really! if you ever bought something in order to have a complete experience. Bay12 doesn't like you!)

So much so that if that is your viewpoint, it is a good idea not to share it out loud here.

Hello I am Neonivek and I am currently wishing to do a play by post oneshot of “Dusk City Outlaws”.

4-5 players is my ultimate goal.

What is Dusk City Outlaws?

The game is a currently in development pen and paper RPG mostly focused around pick up and go gameplay. The rules are somewhat light and streamlined, somewhat excellent for this play by post format. Abilities and knowledge tend to also be absolute but you do have a set of skills ontop of those that do need rolls. What do I mean by absolute? An Alchemist doesn't need a roll to make an alchemical object, it is an innate ability.

You play as a team of thieves and mafiosos attempting to pull off stunning heists. You each have your own specialty and are members of individual cartels. You need to find information, gather resources, remove targets, all so you will be able to pull off the final heist. Yet beware because if you are loud and sloppy people are going to catch on and might put barriers in the way to stop you.

How do I make a character?

You need to come up with a name and a suitable story, you don't have to be too deep or detailed but a clear motivation for why you commit the crimes you do (even if it is just for the thrills) would go a long way.

You also need to come up with your specialization, this determines your abilities, starting equipment, and skills. You also need to chose your Cartel which comes with an ability, what you know, as well as giving you access to special favors linked to each Cartel.

Regardless of what you chose. You start with 100 luck and 1 Influence

What are the Specializations?

If anyone would like a more indepth look at any of these feel free to PM. I don't know how much I can share so for now these descriptions shall be it.

-The Alchemist: You can create alchemical compounds, objects and devices.
-The Assassin: A Hitman specialized in killing people violently but more important silently.
-The Boss: With a team of minions in toe you inspire your team members to greatness
-The Brawler: A Thug or warrior, but who couldn't use a bit of muscle?
-The Grifter: Master of Disguise and stealer of hearts.
-The Thief: A Pickpocket but also one who has mastered the rooftops.
-The Beguiler (Mummers only): An illusionist who can create vivid and dangerous visions
-The Magus (Circle Only): The minds of your enemies are your to play with.

What are the Cartels?

For their abilities, feel free to PM me.

https://scratchpadpublishing.com/blog/2016/6/3/alcatraz-origins

The Wardens are not available.
The Forgotten are not available.
-Both of these will become available once the Beta gets to that point.

How will this game go?

The Day and Night Cycle is split into two phases: The Planning phase and the Legwork phase. Each day consists of two sets of these.

During the Planning Phase I will give you, I believe three days to figure out what each of you wants to do during the Legwork phase. Even though every person will have their own activity, you may, however, also plan to join anyone's legwork scene if you think you can contribute, even if that means you are in every legwork scene.

Some characters have abilities that can only be used during the Legwork phase.

Legwork will hopefully go at a decent pace but I would wish for it to take 3 days or sooner to finish a legwork as well. Rolls are percentile but you can also spend luck, after you roll, to guarantee a success.

What is Influence?

Influence represent resource and favor. Your Cartel have a number of specific favors to outline their abilities but you can also use it in the way an exorbitant amount of wealth could. It can also be used safely remove obsticles without complication.

One Shot What?

I am running a Adventure Path already created for the game so get a hang of it.

Does this sound like a good idea so far? have any additional questions?

General Discussion / Where can I find more humor like this?
« on: April 01, 2017, 08:56:43 am »
So... Believe it or not my FAVORITE humor... and I can't believe it...

Is actually ordinary conversations... animated.

The Ricky Gervais Show was probably the funniest thing of all time for me... So much so it was the show that convinced me I had breathing problems

However because people don't understand what I mean... I shall collect three YouTube videos of EXACTLY what I mean

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6108TwnWzb0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if3yOaCG8ow

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WETKhUqHM4

---

also my favorite episode of the Ricky Gervais Show for good measure

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVMZN1QzTzY

-NOTE: This is an actual conversation! Karl is 100% serious... and to admit... I'd TOTALLY see that movie.

---

And there is this old Flash animation I wish I could find... it was a radio show conversation about a guy who goes into this store to buy a calendar because it is on sale... But it was mislabeled and he gets mad...

So he goes back like 11 days later, sees it is on sale, believes it is... but nope! they still haven't changed the labels!

Life Advice / I seem to have no emotional stability.
« on: March 29, 2017, 10:15:40 pm »
Well... I know I am overly sensitive, I am someone easy to made sad, angry, or what have you and I take criticism too close to home...

But I also seem to get bored quickly and my response to constant stimuli makes me reject it much quicker than most people. I've been known to get bored of things a few minutes after starting or even before doing so.

As well... If I feel anything close to a strong emotion it not only affects me profoundly physically (to the point where it is almost panic inducing) but it often will shift my emotions down to depression, lethargy, or sadness hard.

I wonder if anything is wrong with me or if this is typical depression stuff...

Life Advice / Consistant Glitch (IE and Firefox won't maximize videos)
« on: March 25, 2017, 06:43:12 am »
Ok this is kind of sucky but here is my problem in full...

Videos in browsers do not maximize, actually that isn't true they do... but the task bar is always over them.

As well if I highlight something in the tool bar it will NOT go away unless I click on something in the tool bar.

Usually this is fixed by resetting my computer, but it managed to be persistent twice in a row.

Ok so you wake up one day and are given a box.

Inside this box is the cure for cancer. You have enough doses for a thousand people... and there is a series of books inside this box that teach you how to make and produce it inexpensively. Though they are written in a very thick scientific and medical jargon making it nearly impossible for ordinary people to read.

As well the cure is a magic bullet having absolutely no downsides and curing relatively quickly.

For the sake of this hypothetical... For whatever reason you KNOW the above information to be true.

So how do you manage to get this cure on the market as soon as possible using ONLY the resources you have right now at your disposal.

Creative Projects / Interest Check: Neonivek Reviews stuff
« on: October 21, 2016, 01:46:52 am »
So I watch a lot of movies, Shows, and series and will often binge watch them only to have a lot to say about them afterwards.

I am not particularly funny or jabbing so that isn't my goal, but I certainly would love to try something like this. Give a synopsis of what I've just watched especially esoteric series and dramas.

Yet I get the impression people are kind of disinterested which is probably the case.

But what do you think? Is that an interesting enough prospect to try?

Other Games / Should Eternal Early Access Go By a Different Name?
« on: September 21, 2016, 07:00:35 am »
Ok so we have Early Access right now.

In theory early access is a bonus for people who buy the game early because they can experience the game as it is being developed, they can also essentially alpha-beta test the game and often have an impact on development as well.

A lot of the time though Early Access is either an attempt by developers to get people to buy an unfinished game... OR a defense mechanism because they believe that Early Access is unreviewable as "Hey, we are in early access! don't judge us" (There are even finished games that stay in Early Access for just this reason).
-I laugh that the whole "You can't review Early Access" has entirely blew up in people's faces as yes... the gaming world caught on... forcing people to actually HAVE to review Early Access games. Ha ha ha!

Yet I am not talking about either of those situations I am talking about the "Eternal Beta" or "Eternal Early Access" games. Games without a real intended stopping point that want to update the game continuously, along with the freedom to do so, without ever really reaching a finished point (or at least until they get bored).

Yet these still go by Early Access which implies a end point. Your not having "Early Access" because by all intents and purposes the game has no end and thus you are no more "Early" then anything else (One cannot be early for an appointment that has to set time).

Mind you this ultimately won't work because they don't want the Early Access stamp for accuracy. So even if they did have a new title like "Flexible Development" or something like that. They wouldn't use it. In fact I'd go as far as say most eternal Betas wouldn't even admit they are eternal betas.

Should we have a new system for Eternal EA games?

---

Personally and I know how people will disagree with me... but I don't like Eternal Beta games. They are a lousy excuse...

"Ohh but they are always changing the game!" Who ever said you couldn't add on and change a finished game?

Eternal Beta games often just end up broken messes that are missing vital features... And they will never EVER add those vital features because those are hard work.

It is kind of the thing about Eternal Betas... They are eternal because they add fluff and superfluous systems, while the required core gameplay rots.

General Discussion / Would you want your SO to Fight for your honor?
« on: September 18, 2016, 06:19:32 pm »
This is such a large trope in fiction and let me get this straight.

I don't necessarily mean to the death. I mean someone just calls you a mean name and your SO just clobbers them!

This is typically shown as desirable... In fact even if the character is a pacifist this is seen as desirable.

In fact I've seen the whole "I refuse to fight" as being a terrible thing FAR more then I've seen it being depicted as the mature method of solving a fight.

which is odd because one of the very first things I was told by my mother is not to fight because someone insults her. :P

Other Games / Who here would refund their No Man's Sky?
« on: August 14, 2016, 08:38:00 pm »
Because some people don't want negativity in the No Man's Sky thread... I am just doing the poll here.

Who here would refund their No Man's Sky? Or would if they bought it.
