Ohhhh... I mean just because these soldiers are being treated as religious figures... doesn't mean they are condoning the war... They are just saying that our side was the right side.

Can't say I think that's a good thing. Holding people accountable for their public behavior and espoused beliefs is good. Witch hunts are not. And I can't imagine the kind of bitterness and anger people losing their jobs over this will generate. Seems like the kind of thing that would push angry, possibly unstable people to do something rash and stupid and terrible.

Yeah it is almost like an angry mob of a moralizing ideology that hunts people down for dissent or differences might backfire. If ONLY someone could have predicted this result. :P

E: ... though it did just strike me that if the london mayor hasn't done it yet, within the next day or five would be a real good time to bitchslap trump in the face with his own words.

No it would not. Making terrorists feel stupid and ignorant and subhuman and persecuted, however accurate the specific criticisms may be, only encourages them; ideologies do not grow to enable violent extremism without being able to metabolize animosity into a raison d'etre.

Well THAT and it could cause a Left-Based Riot.

I think we have had ENOUGH anti-Trump riots for a while.

Cracked tends to be, well, coarser, than your usual mainstream media and they do entertainment stuff more than politics, but they're decent. The only thing remotely objectionable in the vid is something a Nixon adviser said.

What is the story behind that? Fictional, out of context???

On a side note... FINALLY I found a video that sort of explains the racism in the police system.

The problem with just "Systematic, systematic, systematic" is it doesn't explain anything. A business cannot just racism people away, it needs to actually DO something.

So the video, which isn't about racism and police, actually explains several reasons why Blacks are in jail far more often even if they aren't the ones committing the crime more often.

Should I be linking the video? I mean it isn't extensive or anything and I cannot vouch for accuracy... It is just nice to have some idea beyond just looking at a number and hypothesizing on causes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVTzIZ1ZVYU

It also explains why in spite of Police Quotas being illegal the police still SEEM to act like they are still under a police quota.

Well you know... Basing a society around hunting down, subjugating, and harassing others is definitely a healthy society.

I think we should create a council that makes a list on what we can and cannot believe in or say... and if we violate that then we should round up a bunch of likeminded individuals who believe they have a moral imperative to act... and then enact some sort of retribution for their harm onto society, perhaps throwing rocks or stones.

This list, of course, in an attempt to stem the tide of bad people will need to be loose in order to ensure that every bigot is dealt with. We might even need to enter people's homes, their lives, or subject them to interrogation to ensure they are not bad people.

Now, of course, people will criticize these tactics. This is because they want to dismantle our just society and are clearly sympathetic to the bad people and are likely bad people themselves. We should subject them to the same treatment.

Finally because we need this system in place we should show people it works. Show people the bad men and them being punished. There is no need to show anything else, they don't need to know of anything going wrong, as that would only weaken our sense of justice and make us incapable of handling those Bad people. If anyone exposes these, they should be swiftly dealt with.

At the end of the day we can rest assured that we are very good people and have created a very good society.

So, evidently there are several more events planned next Saturday. I think... 9 alt-right protest marches are planned across major cities?

Honestly I am not sure if I'd leave town... or board up my home against looters...

But I suspect that the news and social media will be as impartial and objective as possible when reporting on the 100% expected aftermath.

I mean, I always found the whole Chosen One trope in anime make me root more for villains. They might be dicks, but at least they earned their powers. I think the interesting thing about BNHA universe is that there's an inherent source of inequality in all humans, which the heroes must work using ingenuity and actual hard work to combat, otherwise they're just as bad as the villains.

Even if the villains didn't earn their powers... at least they aren't awarded a victory through the circumstances of their birth.

The more interesting part about BNHA is that the Villains are, in many ways, the underdogs... and are genuinely trampled on by society. They are the product of a super hero obsessed society that focuses exclusively on quirks.

Never in history has someone EVER created a far worse problem in an attempt to fix another.

Um, George W. Bush and the Iraq war comes to mind. Though he was trying to fix a non-existent problem and aiming for completely the wrong thing. Shoulda invaded Saudi Arabia instead.
smjjames, I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm. Pretty obvious sarcasm at that. I thought Neo was laying it on thick too, but apparently not enough.

I THIIIINK he knew I was being sarcastic (not 100% sure), and was just filling in a situation where exactly that happened.

I was pointing out the whole thing where it's a piss poor pithy platitude when someone can look at it, think for a second, and go, "Hey, wait a second, that actually sounds pretty good?" Even when they're taking the piss. Not much beyond that.

Dang Rwandan Genocide!

Never in history has someone EVER become worse than who they were fighting or created a far worse problem in an attempt to fix another.

Isn't that right USSR... (Wow, there is quite a history of this)
