Hey it is interesting to see how your super powerful adventurers will do over time. I wish they did more then they currently do or the give you a "speed up time" option so we can see him take on the world's Megabeasts or become king

"If Toady made Fable, it would be game of the millenium"

Id hate to break it to you... but unless Toady secretly keeps million dollar bills in his shoes... I don't think this is exactly true.

Lets be realistic here... Afterall it takes more then good ideas to make a game or else Black and White 2 would be Lionhead's best game. However as B&W2 has shown us it takes Money, A great team, and most importantly Luck.

Toady is someone who mostly works Solo in programming, does little to no Art work in his games, and works with a rather small budget.

You can blame Peter for Fable in how he overhyped it... however he is innocent when it comes to Black and White 2, everything that could have gone wrong during production did, and he ended up paying for it. (To sum up... Half-way through the game he had to restart production... and he ended up running out of money).

Back to the subject at hand

I like the idea of "Retire as"... While I do agree there shouldn't be too much control as it would be neat to read that your "Retire as Peasant" ended up eventually becoming king or took control over the Worship of a Hydra in which he ended up slaying it and claiming himself a god.

"Make anyone with a motive and a reward be a quest giver. Not just mayors"

I agree, the advantage of asking the Mayor should be that he should give quests that concern the town rather then just himself making it easier to ask the mayor then to hunt down villagers. I don't agree with the "And a reward" afterall don't expect anything from dirt farmers.

"Add conversation options to townspeople that give names and directions of questgivers"

Already in the game... if you ask "Service" they point you in the dirrection of someone who they believe needs your help.

"Add thieving/recovery quests"

Requires the Carivan Arc... AKA the Arc in which everything becomes possible. Actually the number of times Ive heard "Requires the Carivan Arc" or "Ill put it off until the Carivan Arc" is kinda funny.

"Make reward items be trinkets, weapons, armor or artifacts that are already in possession of the mayor or the quest giver"

I want to add to this... The Town could add a part of the total wealth of every person the monster killed... and Adventurer gear (if the body was found). So you kill the Dragon that has been harassing the town for 500 years... you may find yourself with 500 years worth of loot and gear.

1) While I could enjoy the idea of secret techniques that Dwarves hoard to themselves and don't tell anyone... Like a skill that always makes Iron objects one level of quality higher... or one that gives Gold the strength and quality of steel. The idea that I can't make my Cheese Maker into a Blacksmith (which is already rediculously difficult to do as it is) without going through a ton of pain is a step back.

2) What?

3) Generally speaking I feel that this is overall unneeded... if you want them to start at the lower left then don't select the whole forest to be chopped down.

4) The only limit should be if you can handle the labor requirements... If materials ever come into play... then that too should play a part

5) The common problem with this is that once again it could very well ruin your fortress layout. You did however suggest an interesting way to handle dwarven homes which is to copy player built rooms.

"Mad lib conversations are the height of irritating in all of the roguelikes I've ever seen"

Doesn't Dwarf Fortress already do Mad Lib names that tend to be pretty bad already?

If Toady going to be working weekends for now on (to have a week + 1 day vacation at the end of the month) or was this a one time deal?

They should have the ability to have their hidden talent be their skill when they come to a fortress... EVEN if it makes it their talent

"These aren't the most beautiful statues but they are made of solid gold/silver and took pretty darn long to build"

Kinda makes it a shame it only has one real texture and color for the statue... I wonder how hard it would be to add more... So a giant gold statue doesn't look like a giant mud statue

"I consider that silly as wood isn't any more comfortable than rock"

Wood is very comfortable... just not in its solid block form... Wooden Sponge (don't know the term for it), Sawdust, and Cork can be very comfortable. Let us not forget Weave and Wicker which are both also made of wood. (In Weave's case it can be made of wood... usually the bark of a tree).

The best you can do with just rock I guess is turn it into sand or beads and sleep on that... Even so called "Rock Beds" are really just heated slabs with blankets ontop.

Stonefall traps are in general much weaker then properly constructed weapon traps... So they don't need to be Nerfed... or at least they need to be nerfed with all other forms of traps.
