DF Suggestions / GUI text colour

I have just started playing Dwarf Fortress in the last week and so far I am enjoying it extremely.
One thing that I have found to be problematic is the text colours on many of the interfaces.
It is extremely hard to differentiate between white(selected) and grey(unselected). This may be in part due to my laptops LCD screen. A higher contrast between these two colours would make many of the interfaces easier to use.
