DF General Discussion / Re: Massive framerate drop updating to 50.07
« on: February 18, 2023, 02:58:40 pm »
An update on this.

For one, it seems to be related to DFHack. Framerate goes back to normal when I uninstall it.

Also, I failed to mention it in the OP, but it's purely an issue with graphical fps. The internal game fps is unaffected, and the effect is independent of what's going on simulation-wise; I get the same fps drop on a fresh 1x1 embark. Also, it's only in tiles mode; ASCII is fine.
But the weirdest thing (and, I would guess, most relavant for the sake of identifying the problem) is that it only occurs at the standard zoom level (i.e. at the tiles' native resolution). Zooming in or out fixes it (wtf).

Does anyone know where I can contact the DFHack people to report this bug (or whatever this is)?

DF General Discussion / Massive framerate drop updating to 50.07
« on: February 11, 2023, 04:27:02 pm »
Today I updated the game from 50.05 which I had held off on doing until new a dfhack version was released, but, upon loading my old save, I noticed my framerate had dropped from 45-49 (it's capped at 50) to below 20. This already happens the moment the save is loaded, with the exact same game state in both versions.

I don't expect good performance from my sub-shitty PC, but such a drop in framerate looks like it's caused by something in the new update rather my hardware generally being too crappy for DF.

Anyone else having similar problems and/or any insights on what might be the cause?

edit: I should add that only the graphical framerate is affected, the simulation framerate remains the same between the two versions

DF General Discussion / Re: Auto-designation macro 2.0
« on: April 28, 2008, 11:24:00 am »
I'm trying to use this utility, but, having never opened Excel before, I'm having trouble creating a .csv file that the macro is willing to accept.

I have tried to make the spreadsheet as described in the other thread (blank cells for undesignated tiles, D for diggable tiles, etc), like this

but, upon saving the file, excel warns me that the file has certain "characteristcs" that are incompatible with the csv format (?), Still, I save the file as csv (opting to lose those "characteristics", whatever those may be) but, when trying to use the roomdef with the macro, I'm given an error like: "Invalid tile 'D;D;D;D;D;D;D;D;D;D;etc;#' in csv file"

If i try to open one of the example roomdefs provided with the macro package it looks like this (and, obviously, it works as intended)

Basically, I have absolutely no clue how this messy-looking format relates to the first spreadsheet

Help me please :P

DF General Discussion / world generation getting stuck
« on: April 21, 2008, 07:46:00 am »
is there anything that may cause it? on a fresh DF installation it takes me a few seconds to generate a 65x65 world, on the one i use (with a customized tileset and some ini tweaks) i quit my last attempt after more than two hours and over 20000 rejects :/
