DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Draw your adventures

Man I have no idea what a river is doing in the middle of a haunted desert.
Also, first glimpse of Jal's new dwarfy outfit!

@Haspen
Well, I might do something like that once exams are a thing of the past. Right now, having to keep a regular update schedule might just make my head explode.

@Bodygripper
I really like how there's a little girl in a pink dress. Also, that is the second most self-satisfied pangolin I've ever seen.

Hm, using narcotics/starving yourself half to death to get in touch with the spirits/gods sounds awesome. Of course, who knows whether they're hallucinations or real..? If/when divine appearances are in, you should definitely have a bigger chance of having them appear if you're starving/drowsy/high.

I've seen reptilemen on the first layer, but that's all. Curiously, despite everything else being zombified, the reptilemen weren't.

Jalathraydus the Tulip of Famine tries to get at that sweet, sweet, dwarf-made armour.
Presumably, the captain's won over once Jal pulls a two meters long dead spider out of her barrel (and drinks the ale at the bottom, to prove her dwarfiness).
I always thought it was funny how you could retire in a dwarfhold and they'd just GIVE you a full set of armour.

Also, wow, I've got fans O_O

@Troubadour
Heh, flowers really would have dotted the i, there, wouldn't they. :p
Well, it was censor bars or 9-ton naked people. Wonder if giants will ever get clothes?

As for the kobolds, the glowing eyes are actually canon. I figure kobolds who want the slightest chance at stealth like Jalathraydus wear hoods everywhere, since otherwise, the glow would give away their positions.
I use a wacom tablet and GIMP.

Is there a small, hollow hill with openings into the depths anywhere on the map? That's the cave.
If there isn't, it's most likely a bug.
The trade goods are because the "cave" is home to a tribe of ettins. It's all stuff they've stolen during worldgen. If you were to visit a nearby town as an adventurer, they'd probably bawl your ears off about it and send you to off the ettins.

I'm pretty sure anything in a cage dies when you abandon.
As for having items stay where you want 'em, the heavier they are, the less they scatter. Anything over ~150 dwarfpounds should stay in place. Lead bins seem to be the go-to solution.

Elves have beards too.

...and dwarves admit this?
Goblins and kobolds are beardless. Gobbo-chin doesn't roll off the tongue too well, though...

Yeah, made her skin too pale in that one.

She's supposed to be skipping along in that first panel. I swear, how do they even fit all those giants into that tiny little cave?

Well, I do try. :p

Jalathraydus escapes from the deeps!
The game said the sun was low in the eastern sky when I got out, but I have no idea if that means it's rising or setting in that world... ;^_^

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: So, you've got a goblin in a cage...
« on: June 08, 2010, 05:02:11 pm »
Safest way to dispose of them:
Build a room that can be locked and flooded (water has to go all the way up to the ceiling).
Build cages in the room.
Link all cages to single lever.
Flood room.
Open cages.

As for handling caged stuff safely, IIRC, so long as you don't try to move them from one cage or another, there's no way they can escape. If you have to move them, make sure the dwarf can reach both cages (or the cage and the pit) from a single tile. Keep some military dudes nearby, since this isn't a guarantee.

Now then, creative stuff.

Use water to wash them into the Home For Inifinite Losers or other fun places!
Take all their clothes, then set them free in a blizzard!
Make a contraption that will drop them on invaders! (preferably from very high up)

Turns out GCS aren't that frightening when they're zombies and you're a kobold with speed 1684. You can almost outrun the webbing!

Well, it took forever, but they're finished, sort of. Sorry about the wait. :/

First up, Atul, wuradi pikewoman.

Second, Kadol, Biseketur, presumably great hero, who taught me how little I knew of burns (I figured, being a dwarf, his beard would grow back - forgot about the double braids)

And finally, a duo of dwarf and man, Bekat and Kosoth. (I forgot a lot of the decorations, and I didn't have a hair colour for the dwarf so I improvised)

Again, sorry about the wait and unpolished quality. Lots of stuff came up. I probably shouldn't take any more requests untill I've got everything sorted out.

DF Modding / Modifying language raws
« on: April 29, 2010, 04:17:38 am »
I can't get it to work. D:
Also, I can't find anywhere in the entity_default raws where it specifies a language. The closest thing I've found is a place in creature_standard where it says something about dwarf.txt, which I can't find anywhere either. :/
Help?

Just [R]emove it from your backpack.

That's also a warhammer, namely the pointy end.

Actual mining picks might work if you could hit the other guy right, but they're not very agile weapons since stone doesn't move much.
