Which kinda makes me want to have what they are having when they come up with this sort of stuff.

They put lead plates into their wine when it was fermenting so it would taste sweeter.

No, really.

Woah, people actually view PETA as something other than delusioned fanatics? I stand horrified.
They aren't all delusional fanatics.

There are the people at the top who are making loads of money off the delusional fanatics.  It's just like Scientology.

Well Qmarx's dwarf used his pick to pierce the earth, and even though he wasn't using his drill to pierce the heavens, its still pretty appropriate.

It's pretty much the exact opposite of Gurren Lagann.

This pick is the pick that has already pierced the hells.

But, yeah.  A Gurren Lagann mod would involve the following changes:

Gen a world with trees dramatically less prevalent, and deserts everywhere.

Rename elves "beast men", and give them some positive damblock.
Give them a new metal for armor called Ganmenium, which is dramatically better than all others.  Remove all weapons from their civ except spears, maces (which are renamed robotic fists), and crossbows (which are renamed machine guns).

Remove all weapons from dwarves except picks.  Move the damage up by 30, and rename them "drills".

A Ganmenium drill will pierce just about anything, especially if equipped by a legendary miner who's never seen combat before.

Well, he did have the most improved update.

That is, dwarves went from fatal hibernators to caffine junkies in a single update.

You could also put down DF as the most ruined game of 2008.

Hey, PETA are extremely dwarfish.  After all, they kill 90% of the adoptable animals they "rescue".

Collapsing ice to the bottom level and melting it to create a chasm: BUSTED

The tiles melted into "  Floor" tiles
Probably should be reported to Toady, if it hasn't been already...

DF Suggestions / Re: Gnus!

Wait, the guns topic wasn't a joke?  :o

Seriously, though, more animal variety would be nice, and I noticed gnus were missing.

And I know Toady loves adding gnu features.

Mechanic 1: "Don't worry Sir! We will install this AWE-INSPIREING AND ALLMIGHTY PICK to defend your chambers."

Mechanic 2: *nodding* "It's the best choice!"
Well, a pick IS a spear that does 30% less damage.
More importantly, it uses mining skill.
Not when installed in a trap.
Which is why it's more worthwhile to be used as part of a legendary miner militia.

Portabello mushrooms with a touch of low quality wine - that is, a little grapey and a little vinegary.

DF Suggestions / Gnus!
« on: January 01, 2009, 07:24:17 pm »
The dwarves of dwarf fortress need gnus! They need to witness the power of the bovidae! They could be as strong as current crossbows when/if they get balanced out.And when the gnus are set on fire, they release a unit of smoke(whats a wildebeest without smoke?).The dwarves carrying the gnus would need either pulleys or several stones, with gnupowder made with grass. You could also have the other races call them "Catoblepas".

Apart from the rampant tree chopping operations of course :P

Yeah.  I'm pretty sure that Nist Akath has chopped down 400% of all the natural foliage.
