Linking the siege engines to mechanical energy sources would actually work really well, from a dwarven standpoint, I approve of that idea. Especially with the potential to also link the ballasta to levers or pressure plates.

It was on purpose.  Eating things you've killed is Nature's (read: the elves') way.  They also get real pissed about the things they've always complained about before.

I think we have a word for that: Bunk.

I do not approve of this direction to take elves in. Not at all. :(

Hmmmmmmm... Now I kind of want to start an Elven Fortress. Hell, an "All Civlized Races" fortress.

Human warriors with two-handed weapons, Dwarven hammerlords with tower shields, elven crossbowmen...

And of course, the ability to [P]ull the Lever! in times of dire need.

Yes, but those were special crossbows known as arbalest, and they were basically the (dwarven) Ballastae's lil' brudder. The medieval Knight in full plate was the tank, and to counter that, the Arbalast was the medieval TOW launcher.

Lesser crossbows could be reloaded faster, but did much less hurt. Not that they still woulden't kill a Knight if you somehow managed to get one through his visor.
