Well, just about 3 things kinda bother me about this. One would be that it would take an anti material rifle to handle a dangerous zombie next to something you normally don't want to fight, and if you have one then the list of things you don't want to fight get pretty small. The other is that a turret is going to be fighting zombies for the rest of its existence because none of them would ever go down permanently no matter how many chunks fly off them. And the last being I would rather not keep track of every zombie I had to kill but not butcher after big fights.

Well, if it helps any, you can get sense vitals on Woljif as it turns out. I haven't gotten a chance to try this but mixing in some arcane trickster as is may be a valid choice to get him up to buckets of dice of sneak attack damage in a bursty way with a sneak attack controlled fireball powered by sense vitals later on.

Eldritch scoundrel really gives up too much between armor, sneak attack progression and uncanny dodge. I think you even get less rogue talents. It makes sense you wanna give up a decent amount of stuff for spell access on a rogue, but you can compare it to the primalist bloodrager who basically ends up as a better barbarian with less hit points.

And well, adding sneak attack damage ends up being taking one level of vivisectionist to get it and an alchemy bonus to one attribute you want and a smattering of useful spells. I don't think sneak attack damage is as useful as doubled strength bonus damage though. With the right build anyway.

Anyway, weekend is in let me see if I can get farther in than all the beta versions I had to stop playing due to a game breaking bug somewhere there.

From a party building perspective I am having a hard time making Woljif fit in really. I am not sure that eldritch scoundrel offers anything particularly good? 2/3rds caster versus fullcaster-1 Rogue 1/Caster 9/Arcane Trickster 10, worse defenses compared to a magus, bard or vivisectionist. The icing on top is Cameilla fills in trap and door duty better. Get the feeling I will end up retraining him later to "fix" him.

Well, it really comes down to be nice and don't assume the worst out of people because they contribute to a project really. I also kinda let my frustrations boil over a little there.

One thing I kinda wish cataclysm had though was something that reduces the amount of corpse pulping you had to do after fights. Right now it's just based on how over kill your attack was, but it'd be nice if there was some skill interaction with survival top disable zombie revival instead of the all or nothing implementation right now.

... I guess? In my experience though it is kinda hard to get an encounter builder that churns out results that make sense and doesn't get too swingy. I'm also not saying those are the only two ways forward and rather just something I personally suggest for handling encounters in this kinda game. But yes, games like this will more often than not boil down to some amount of system mastery that includes character creation mastery. It may not be impossible to get some system the way you want it, but it's a fair bit bigger of a design overhead for a computer to do that versus a human to do that, and 9/10 times the human would do a better job of it.

The succubus can be tough this early on, but you generally want some method to hit touch ac or make enemies flatfooted somehow. Currently running a Kitsune vivisectionist build I had since the beta and at level 3 I have 4 iterative attacks with sneak attack damage at 2d6. No idea if this will bear out well the rest of the campaign but being able to push your dex to a minimum of 30 is helpful.

Barbarian senator and kobolds have gotten some new abilities and/or units looks like. And druid summoning for ant hills is in looks like so let's see if this game is going to go all in on antpocalypse.

And the oven of sins has been fixed so hopefully that's going to actually work now

I can probably play on higher difficulties but I keep forgetting to update the ai level then get too lazy to start over. I'm not taking the game seriously at the moment though and I'm exploring the classes and seeing what they offer before attempting a serious game. I'll likely start out against count level AI when I get there

Well, mostly just kinda making it clear why I bounced off of DDA. And a lot of these had been kinda issues that my friend group ran into mostly, but we're glad we have a choice in the matter now at least

Oh right, I forgot about the large amount of weight fluctuations and having to eat lard to not lose weight when I had to work on cars for a day. I believe that got fixed up, but soon after we got the proficiencies system where they were implemented before there was a post character creation method of acquiring them.

Ended up dropping the game after those were introduced. It's kinda become clear that dda isn't afraid of putting in new systems without a clear way to mitigate them in their experimental builds. And with how long vitamins are still unfinished, alongside drug use stuff I am really not confident that new systems will get fully implemented. But I have practically given up on runs before due to these implementations

I believe the last time I played they had reduced what bows and crossbows damage by 1/10 or 1/5 then raised their critical damage by the same factor making those weapons useless against anything with even a thick hide (since damage multiplies after damage calculations). Given I care about bows and personally don't believe it's a change that makes sense I kinda bounced off of current DDA and the stuff I hear about how CBMs are handled means I'm likely not going to go back. And well, as far as pockets go, Bright nights just got an implementation that lets me drop my backpack off my back then pick it up and wear it with all items contained in it. Not quite pockets but it does what I want from pockets mostly.

After failing 3 summonings while the stars were right decided to start playing a necromancer and... this is nice? Just being able to spend hands and get something. But if I have an issue eventually it feels by the time you lich, there is not much of a point in raising dead anymore with your income.

If it's any consolation, despite the patches, the game seemed pretty stable even on release. Most of the fixes seem to be related to the networking stuff right now so if you are playing this as a single player game you likely won't notice much unless a typo was bugging you.
