I think that the latest version (July 13th's) has this issue.  Try the one before it.  (The new one JUST came out, noone is quite sure what's up yet)

I got drowsy, so I decided to get some (Z)'s... turns out that's a big, slow, mistake.  Advice seems to be to travel, but it took me forever to find the entrance to my fort and get in this far.  I'm guessing if I travel out, I'll have to hike back in.

Is there any way around this, or am I doomed to get part way into the fort before having to leave?  How long can I be hungry or thirsty or drowsy before I suffer for it?  Can you die of exhaustion?

I love this idea... It would be a big boon to the legends mode players (A.K.A. the people who don't play but read legends for the stories)

Is 60 megs really that big anymore?  There are 1 terrabyte harddrives out right now.  Say an average world is 200 megs.  That's .2% of the hard drive space.

Although it seems like an XML flatfile with a light ASP/.net front end would be the way to go.  The DF code could continue to use the XML flat file 'in game' while the front end could generate a live click to browse interface.  Nothing would be duplicated.  As a side note, people could also tweak their legends ;) (as an unsupported savescum level type thing)

Anyway, if the dump is XML I'm sure community people would pick up the interface.  There's enough students out there in need of a school project.

a brief survey of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_battles_601-1400 shows between 20% and 50% casualties being the norm for decisive battles in the time period.  However, this is a fantasy setting, without the concept of expendable foot versus heavy cavalry.  Also, many battles are likely not the 'decisive' ones we read about in history books, more skirmishes and raids.

Hopefully there will be some culling of raid info (rather than name every raid, just call it 'a raid' unless history deems it important.)  "My husband was killed in a goblin raid a few years back" sounds a lot more realistic than "My husband was killed during OracleTinker, the stinking tarpits of sweltering", when talking about a goblin assault by 6 goblins on a town of 10 people.

My two cents anyway.

I figure only lacquered wood would be usable for coins.

Apathetic...  It should be easy to do as an item improvement using... resin(?) that only works on wood

I'd be happy if it didn't create the jobs if the materials weren't available.  That way, my smelt 30 hematite would only give 1 'no coal' error once per job manager cycle rather than 30, constantly, every time my forge worker decides to show up.  (Also, the forge wouldn't be spammed with 9 out of 10 useless jobs)
