yeah... booze on fire is dwarven trouble, but smoking on the deck of a ship at night is good gritty historical WWII trouble

Additionally you are trusting dwarves, who cannot put on clothes, to hold a cigarette. I can foresee several new kinds of fun, dwarves not using cigs, dwarves using more then one cig, dwarves not putting down spent cigs. Dwarves that do not stop smoking and stand there forever.  Dwarves smoking in the booze store, Dwarves giving away the fort position by going outside for a smoke in the middle of the night.

Meh, pits are D6 per 10 ft, roll 3-4d6 behind the screen, say '10' (no matter what you roll), and start a fight where the fleshy bits of the party are trying the throw the orcs down to the fighter.

This works best if the rest of the party stays hidden while the orcs gather around the pit to look down at the silly trapped human. 

Bonus points if you start singing 'It's raining men orcs' at any time during the proceedings.

Awesome flash game, good tech demo for a full fledged game.

My strategy was always head for a border and build up from there.  It's basic area vs circumference math.  Expanding along the edge of the map increases your area with a lower circumference increase.

It might be more clear if dwarves already assigned to a squad are listed in a different colour. Maybe someone should suggest that.

Maybe... someone that thought of it?

?  Toady puts a lot of work into maintaining save compatability...  The only reason you NEED to upgrade is to get new worldgen features.

I'm just lazy (and haven't adjusted to the new, more frequent release cycle.)

I tend to play one fort per version, which ends up meaning one fort per world.

Hopefully at some point past forts will matter.  Until then, why bother?

There's no model for consummable crafts...

That could solve a lot.  Creatures eat this for fun.(add syndromes for added fun).

And a tag for 'eating this releases smoke' (miasma?)
