Katrina Hodge.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/newsbeat/newsid_8481000/8481693.stm

the link is a fluff peice, but if you search around, you can find excerpts from her book about being in Iraq and facing beating down a prisoner armed with a knife after the transport truck she was in with him got hit with an IED and rolled over, killing and crippling most of the occupants.

Indeed, keeping people of the opposite sex close to each other is a bad idea.

On a related note, Several snipers on the WWII Eastern front were Russian Women.
Indeed, I believe the most kills sniper record is still held by a Russian women from WW2.

Posting to watch.

Incidentally, I think this is a good thing, so long as the army gets off its ass about the rape issues.  I've read elsewhere that women in the US army are more likely to be raped by fellow soldiers than to be killed in combat >_>
Sadly, I agree.  I wish i didnt have to.  Not a bright spot for the Army.

Eh, I'm no fan of women in combat arms. It'll happen, but it leads to *all* kinds of morale and logistics problems that I don't want to be around when they get dealt with.
Well, in the US, the logistics are allready there.  Morale is something we will have to wait and see on.  I heard the Isreali;s tried allowing women in combat but it failed because the men wouldnt leave fallen female bodies and became to distraught to be mission capable, but I dont know if its true since I heard it on a political news show back in the 90's (I think) when the last time this issues came up.  Can anyone verify/debunk this?  The wiki mentions esprit de corp problems but no evidence.

i am not sure what else to tell you Neonivek.  Its pretty clear that your problem player isnt looking to play fair (nicest way to describe it I could think of  :P ).  Its also clear that other players do want to play.  I think based on what you have told us you could handle a game at around 6th-8th level easily.  It also seems clear that you are grasping for whatever straw you can find to deal with you problem player short of just saying "No".  I hope it works out for you, cuz a fun RPG session is priceless.  I suggest starting at no higher than level 3 to help the party ease into their characters. Lastly, it is my opinion that the funnest part of the game is between level 1-6, with levels 1-3 being the core.  Thats when survival isnt guaranteed by equipment and instead by good roleplaying and tactical decisions.

Wait, we're going back on track. I'm an independant. You guys?
Opps, sorry, carry on.

I think its perfectly reasonable for women to enter combat.  But I also beleive they should be able to meet the same physical requirements as men to do so.  Not because I am sexist, but because the battle field doesnt care what sex you are and the skills required for victory are the skills required for victory.

I hope that made sense.

Women in supporting combat roles is fine.  Many women have allready aquitted themselves with honor on the modern battlefield wearing the US uniform (i say that cuz its the only pool of facts I am familiar with) because a fluid battle moved and they got caught up in it.  I think women should be flying combat jets and attack helicopters if they can withstand the g-forces that routinely accompany those jobs.

Also, I have some great stories about my female Company Commander in the US Army back in 1993.  She was the daughter of a very very powerful military man and tried harder than others to prove herself.  I think soldiers like Coughdrops sergeants are dealing with common societal forces and have a natural reaction to push back harder.  It shouldnt be, but I think it is.

Lastly.  Go Army!   8)

The astroturf thing doesn't really matter.  It's just really, really annoying when people go on and on about it being a grassroots movement as if it validates their movement when it isn't even that.
Please prove this without op-eds.  Please provide the facts detailing the financial transactions.  Please tell me who gets how much money when and from who.  Please tell us which tea party organizations receive all this false funding and how people like me arent really in a grassroots movment, but instead following the dictates of some bogeyman.  Maybe he has psychic powers and forced me to join the tea party.  I dunno.  Convince me of your opinion with facts.

High-fiving a guy for vomiting is a pretty dwarf thing to do.

Did you then track it all over the place

ehh, the "big shopping complex" management company would have just run BSCcleanup.bat
Wait, why would you want to clean up a trail of vomit? It's stuff like that that gives a place character!
Well, the mayor of "big shopping complex" fortress might disagree, and you know what happens then.

*note:  i am going to try to name my next fort this, and build a super mall.  thanks for the idea!

Y'know what, I've got an idea.  Take the list of current Congresspeople, and you tell me which ones are the Tea Partiers and which ones are just plain old Republicans.  Because sitting on the outside, I have no idea which is which, because they all call themselves Tea Partiers, and I don't know the how to tell the believers from the poseurs.

damn, now I got homework. *palmslap

One thing I always tell players is that at first they are just idiots with swords.  They dont start as heroes.  The point of the game is to become a hero.  I cant let them be cool/powerful until they earn it.

IMO tho, first thing that happens, sword is stolen by more powerful demon (or more powerful and angry angel) who kicks the shit outta that players character.  Then he can quest to get it back.

As DM, your primary goal is either to tell a story, or to make sure your players have fun (preferably both).
Fun being the key.  Glyph is wise.

I've seen D&D DMs regularly ban classes, races, abilities and entire books to insure a better game experience.
Gnomes.  Fucking hate them.

Wise indeed.  Very wise.

...If they are merely "fiscally conservative" without ideological leanings, why support, say, Christine O' Donnell, who's socially conservative in the extreme?  Why support Sarah Palin?  I mean, a movement's made up of the people in it, after all.
Thats the point, social ideologies are immaterial.  Fiscal conservatism is supposed to be the only key.

And yet, it just keeps not working out that way.  Big huge influx of "Tea Party" aligned Congresspeople.  Jobs jobs jobs, deficit deficit deficit.  First item on the table when Congress enters session?  Making abortions harder to get.
Remember Aqizzar, John Boehner is not part of the tea party.  He's a boehner.  I wish I could erase the confusion over tea party members and republicans, but the current sitting (pre 2010 election) republican congresspeople are making a hash of it.  They are trying to backhandedly use tea party principles to attack their petty social issues.  Trust me, this annoys tea party members (at least the ones I converse with).
