You could also download some of the larger tilesets available on the Wiki - I'm pretty sure there's a few that run at your resolution.

I'm glad that this forum stays so level headed when the topic of belief comes up - some other forums just degenerate into poorly spelled ragestorms that gets out of hand quickly.

Which is ironic in a way, since it's a board dedicated to fortresses of beings that go absolutely mental if their cat falls down a mineshaft and they haven't had enough sleep.

I thought Havelock was the manservant... oh well, pardon me for the lack of funny.

Havelock is his first name; his secretary's name is Drumknott.
:D
Still funny, nonetheless! I applaud!

Well, it appears that they were stuck fast in the muds. Might as well scrape a living here for now, until they could get some help from the passing merchant caravans later on in the year.

He needed someone to manage the outpost while they were here on this interim. A few of the others worshipped their false, non-watery gods, and so he needed another follower of Ner Teling Urmim... Dante seemed an ideal choice: he was a miner after all, so he would know the way to tunnel best for their living.

Mac was certain Dante would fit the post, and relied on him for safe tunnelling through the damp mires for their fort here.

Name: Elros Stinghelm
Age: 78
Crime: Wordlessly Slaughtered 8 Dwarves in his Squad while on Duty.
Skills: Proficient in Double-Sworded Combat. Incredibly dangerous at close range, but the +snooze plant juice-tipped darts+ took him out no trouble. Prefers outdoor work, so he could be a valuable hunter-gatherer.
(Swordsdwarf, Ambusher, Wrestler skills)

You wouldn't fall out in some places though; you'd hit either an elephant or Atuin's shell!

Reminds me of a quote from one of the books, "Any more of this and we're going to give an elephant a bloody nasty shock!"

Oh man, I feel sorry for that guy. He's going to go through a lot more than this...

Well, now that he had left the Mountainhomes, shortly after the... thing... whatever it was, he couldn't remember it. In any case, he was feeling as fresh as a daisy. He set off along the riverbanks, in humble servitude to his deity. He was sure he would be pleased with him, but for what he could not tell. Everything seemed a little blurry, but for now he had meat, water, clothes, and a good knowledge of self-defence. Everything was spot-on.

Travelling alone, he pondered his thoughts. Why couldn't he remember what had happened? One thing he knows, he was busy stoneworking and then... was it a fey mood? Apparently some people forgot how they made the artifacts, and so did not become master craftsmen. Yes, that must be it. In view of his accomplishments, they must have sent him to gather followers to start a fortress.

He paid no attention to the 'X' mark on his forehead. Must have been an injury, from a rockfall or something. Traditionally, it was the symbol of excise for something utterly evil - but that was not possible. He was a Dwarf of good standing, wasn't he? Yes.

Whilst he was travelling, he came across a caravan of five Dwarves. Covering his forhead lest they get the wrong idea, he joined them - and, as luck would have it, they were going to found an outpost. He told them the self-thought tale of how he came to be wandering - the artifact story thrilled the rest and they soon elected him as leader.

Happily he rode in the wagon, looking at the wonders of his deity. The rushing waters, the clouds over the distant horizon bearing the mark of the sea! While they passed the haunted lands, they were joined by some sort of wild Elf. At first, Mac prepared to defend the caravan from this attacker, but it turned out all he wanted was some company and some flour.

Mac urged on the mules, and they continued to found a fortress - HIS fortress - Mansionfaith.

First though, they'd need to get past this swamp... and already they were axle deep in mud. Not to worry, he thought, we'll get through this lot no problem...

Ooh! Pick me! :D

Name: Mac McMick
Preferred Gender: Male
Preferred Activities(up to 3-5 in order of preference): Masonry, Craftswork, Butchery
Preferred Personality/Likes/Etc.: Happy-Go-Lucky, Upbeat, that sort of thing. Unless the word "cuisine" is mentioned. A grim reminder of his dark past haunts him in the gleam of the butcher's knives. Once upon a time, he had a Fell Mood...

Dwarf Therapist just won't open for me.
Nothing unusual is in the logs (i.e, it says it's open. Trace just tells me it finished loading the english translation). I've tried with Dwarf Fortress open, with Dwarf Fortress running an actual fortress, and without Dwarf Fortress.
Nothing happens upon attempting to run the executable.

On Windows XP SP3 here, by the way.
